Those mushrooms look like dicks
imagine playing this shit instead of vanilla wow lol
>you will never meet 12 year old asian girls from california while grinding all day to get a fucking worthless mage shield again
Why even live
I still play on a private server.
J>PQ@@@@@@@@@@@
I did and I don't regret it. My brother and my friends and I all made some awesome memories playing it.
Shame the general doesn't exist anymore on /vg/.
Anyone wanna try and make a new general for an old MMO? Preferably a game anons haven't played together with.
>tfw waiting on the Destiny event to come back to Maple
Why can't I quit this dumb game?
Imagine playing World of Borecraft instead of Priston Tale, MapleStory, Ragnarok Online, and a couple others.
Elsword is better
No, I played Runescape and Counterstrike back then. Only person I knew who played Maplestory was a Philipino schoolmate who also played Counterstrike.
I miss the days when everyone had a fucking free to play mmo, and they were all decently populated.
mmo's were better when they were 2d.
>He isn't playing maplelegends for the classic nostalgic experience that fades after level 40
NGMI.
the main theme always gets me in tears everytime I go back I play for an hour before realizing how shit it really is and just let the good memories rest
imagine playing the same game for 18 years
I did and it was glorious. Wow ruined the genre
>Not playing Mabinogi instead
Kek, I never met someone who played vanilla WoW who wasn't a turbo autist. That applied to RL friends and guild mates. Maplestory had a better player base.
Time for your nostalgia pills

imagine being yourself for over 10 years
>wanting to play the clunky ass old game with shitty leveling pacing and no end game
No thanks. Talking to strangers online lost its charm a while ago.
>Not playing Combat Arms instead
>translation: I was a poorfag and had a potato PC at the time
>paying a monthly fee to play
lol retard
Jesus I have so many sweet memories about maple story, all that fucking grinding and I was happy
Life was simple as fuck, father didn't drop us yet, mother used to smile...shit fuck you
Baby now remembers Gaia Online! Aawwwww, why don't you come here and play with your old Gaia account?
That's why you gotta stop at level 40. The game is absolute shit if you play any longer then that
>Not playing Toribash! instead
Sorry but I have the better MMO soundtracks. You can thank me later.

It was super easy to mess up your character back in 2007. Long term issues without even knowing it. However, that didn't really matter with the people you played with. So many of the items were fun to have and find.
The game now is so barren. Guilds are really the only community, effectively clusters. Why train with other people, you lose out on exp. Why fight bosses together, you should focus on soloing it. Make 40 characters get them to 210 only to have 1 have slightly more damage.
Damage used to be capped. Big Bang was not the problem. Hidden Potential was the problem that ruined the game.
Do you remember that feeling? That feeling when you boot up the game and login?
LOTRO user. Let's do it.
For real Combat Arms wasn't as bad as they made it out to be
>that soundtrack
I heard they made a bunch of content that was previously subscription content for free now. I actually did try it a year ago and it was kind of a slog.
I was addicted to nexon games back then
>Maplestory
>Combat Arms
>Dungeon Fighter
>Mabinogi
>Pop Tag
>Dragon Nest
>Vindictus
>Audition
>ywn watch balrogs tear retards to shreds on the flying ship that took you to the party quest in the legoblock place
i remember people would just afk on the top side of the ship and trolls would summon a bunch of monsters to kill afk players so that they would respawn on the mainland and have to pay for a ship ticket again. god the memories.
Fun memories but holy shit the grind. Me and my friends almost wasted an entire summer grinding.
Remember that feeling of arriving at Lith Harbor for the first time?
Remember being filled with that sense of adventure?
Remember feeling excited for the journey you were about to embark on? The friends you would meet? The memories?

You can never go back.
I miss Combat Arms.
>144 kill elimination
>junk flea one man arny
>grave digger sniper only
>fireteam cabin fever and desert fox
>quarantine free running
>abundant amount of hackers
>clan wars
>voice chat trash talking and trolling (got mad when they removed it)
>broken NX only weapons and gear
>it's 2003
>living in an apartment complex on the third floor
>it's raining and cold outside
>can see the city downtown lights outside my window far in the distance
>boot up maplestory on my computer in the corner of my room with a blanket over me
bros...I want to go back
FUCK
I got bullied a lot growing up and the Korean kids in school took me into their group as the honorary white kid and playing maplestory was the best time of my life.
>arriving at Lith Harbor for the first time
>got on the black cab and arrived at Sleepywood
>died repeatly and couldn't get out
>a kind stranger gave me 10k mesos and some teleport scrolls to get out
I regret that I didn't remember his name but I will remember this memory forever.
Anyone ever try the Maplestory clone?
Which class did you choose?
>Cleric
>Most wanted class in PPQ
>Save money on health potion
The chad thrifty cleric of course.
you just unlocked memories I didn't know I had
Hunter, eventually moved to crossbowman when creating a new character and rolled 12/5 dex/str, I also found a +7 battle crossbow (60%'d) for 200k in the free market, got it to around level 90, got a dawn warrior 100, years later I got a mercedes as my first 4th job, and later 5th job when it released. I'm level 244 at the moment on that same mercedes
I've played on and of for more than half my life.
>do the quest thing that require 3 other players
>BRB smoke break
>be poorfag back when I was a kid, family couldn't afford to buy vidya, movies or any entertainment really
>parents finally buys the family 1 computer to share
>i remember my siblings fighting to see who gets to play maplestory on that 1 computer
>remember the good memories
Life is objectively better now after graduating, getting a good job and having everything sorted out but man I kinda wish I could go back
post mushroom
good memories with this game desu
hanging out in kerning city and watching the people drop rare items and watching them cope after some chad swoops it up
good times..
It's crazy how many MMOs existed, came and went and imploded or got eaten alive by WoW between the mid 00s and mid to late 10s before MOBA shit and eventually fortnite all but consumed any chance for getting a new newfag surge for MMOs.
Since odds are this is likely the only chance for some of you to bring it up, what are some MMOs you played that stuck with you even today, even if most likely not that many played it or it wasn't a typical MMO?
Logged 100 hours
Got 1 chara to lvl 30
And 1 chars to lvl 50
Both mages
One FP one IL
Never managed to leave the main island
Simple as
>Logged 100 hours
>Got 1 chara to lvl 30

>Both mages

>Simple as
I do and it got way too grindy when you hit level 30. And this is coming from someone who played Tibia. Grinding in MMO's is the worst thing you could ever do with your spare time.
Age of Wushu was awesome. The combat in that game felt really satisfying and the lotus palm combo was just fucking stupid good at juggling people to death.
>eaten alive by WoW
I'm relatively sure that maplestory still maintains a larger playerbase than WoW does. It really only 'died' overseas and even then it's not exactly dead. The people going 'remember maplestory' are more akin to veteran WoW players waxing nostalgic for pre-cata.
How many of you actually played in the 2005 days?
It was too big. Climbing the tower was a fucking awful experience. And while descending into forgotten time was an acceptable walk, navigating the factory assembly lines was an abysmal experience. But the worst part was the fact you had to walk five entire fucking maps to even get to the tower from fresh off the boat.
That's exactly how I look but with a worse hairline. How did you know?
what happened to it?
