Bleed this, frost that. Holy fuck has nobody played around with other status?
Scarlet rot only gets used with decay breath and madness is a one trick spear/frenzied burst.
Anyone every use poison or sleep?
The OTHER status effects
I run dual poison daggers. It's fun but poison is pretty meh when the bosses have a fuck ton of health.
Don't worry you'll be seeing a lot of sleep soon
I don't mean that as a physical threat just that it's the next broken thing after they patch RoB
Sword of st trina is a great side weapons for PVE.
i feel like the green goblin with how many sleep pots i throw in pvp. but trinas lilies are FINITE kek
you can cheese a lot of bosses with poison with 0 effort
Figured a dot would be decent at gradually getting hp down but since bosses just have so much health it could seem negligible.
What's your set up? Standard daggers with poison ash?
normal poison is terrible damage. the only one worth using is 'heavy poison' off stuff like serpent arrows. sleep isn't used much because the only non-consumable sources are a torch and the St Trina swords
rot is the better poison but still is a slow death with all the health enemies have.
I killed Godfrey with the Black Bow. I'd use poison arrows until he's poisoned, then switched to normal arrows afterwards. Poison is great for bows since you can easily buy them.
I know you can sleep fairly quick in pvp. How is it against bosses? Is it even worth it on them?
Poison is scarlet rot but worse. It takes infinity time to kill any hosts.
Sleep is decent against people who use shields, which is noone. But you can switch to double sleep swords against anyone who does.
The cheesiest bullshit is just poking with spears over and over. Just double bleed spears. Even more cheesy then moonveils.
some like godskins go take a nap, others just stagger so i dont count on it. although dual trina swords can annihilate normal shit. caelid crows get staggered, riposted, and then slept
>Sleep is decent against people who use shields, which is noone
So you don't play?
Right hand is a poison great knife with parry and the other is another poison great knife with a random ash that lets me use poison. I run the Kindred of Rot's Exultation with it for more damage when it procs and sometimes apply rot grease to one knife for more damage.
poison sucks i use antspur with bleed, id use frost if it didnt remove the scarlet rot
Poison is used to cheese bosses with poison arrows etc.
I'll have to give that sword a go. Wanted to make a status effect build, rotating between them but is seems that if its not bleed/frost it's not overly with it. Minus specific situations
>sleep
I have not found a single cook book with sleep related items all game so not once have I had the occasion to use it. And it was supposed to be a cool new mechanic, shame.
poison is great at lower level invasions, most players won't have a cure and it puts constant pressure on them, easy enough to apply with a bow and arrows
>tfw I just realized the rot butterflies dont respawn
Fuck
>poison Mist
>Rotten breath
>Rivers of blood spam
Heh, nothing personal kiddo
on my first playthrough back when i was still a noob i used the serpent katana with a poison moth flight uchi
it sucked ass and i learned my lesson
That setup sounds fun, I'll give it a go. Thanks user
Only 2 weapons apply Rot
Poison does good damage but it takes a while to do it. It's pretty good in PvP as well because a lot of people don't have boluses, I wouldn't use it at a high level though because most of those people cheated in consumables.
Poison's damage not being MaxHP based makes it completely useless. Bleed and BlackFlame blade are superior in every way as high-health melters.
I suppose you could use to cheese some troublesome NPCs, but still...
The amount of times I've died to a powerstanced bleed spear
nah, there's all the corrupted crystal weapons, there's a eldtree avatar mace with it, the rotten duelists weapons, antspur, and the scorpion dagger
Sleep is situational. Godskins can be put to bed. Trolls are VERY susceptible to sleep- one hit of Trina's mist thing and they're out.
There's one cookbook that gives you pretty much all the sleep recipes. If you go into the main academy gate, you can walk past the sigils in the air to actually go down the path for a while. One side has a part of Yura's questline and the other side has a merchant that sells that cookbook plus an important spirit ash for a puzzle later.
Why would anyone use poison? They have nerfed it into the ground both for enemies and for players.
I beat both of the gargoyles while being poisoned for like 2 minutes, didn't even have to heal that much more. And player inflicted poison is even worse. The damage is so minimal that it's useless on regular enemies because you will kill them faster yourself and on bosses it does nothing. Takes years to apply too.
Unfortunately there are only a few melee weapons that apply scarlet rot. Maybe frost is okay, have not tried it.
Sleep can actually be very effective, depending on the situation. I've heard it's great for Godskin Duo.
Late retard, I've been seeing it for ages. Sleep pots are good but auto crossbow with sleep arrows is the way to go.
>bbbbut the mats are limited
LMAO even if you aren't using CE, you can mule them or just back up your save.
Poison just seems like a shitty rot. Maybe if you had a dual rot + poison setup that could be cool though
>auto crossbow
auto crossbow with bleed bolts is absolutely insane, probably all the effect arrows work great with it
poison can be applied with just about anything, that's the difference, rot is very scarce and comes with an investment cost
I feel poison is 100% intended to be used with the talisman that pumps up your AR.
It's not a bad setup, poison is real easy to apply, and against bosses is pretty much a free damage buff for the rest of the fight.
I use twin poison antspur rapiers, seeing people start panicking when their health starts rapidly dwindling is hilarious.
i have never been inflicted Sleep in all of my 2 playthroughs. What does it do?
You can farm lilies tho
I was hopeful poison was useful again but I had doubts. Hasn't been worth using since ds1.
>scarlet rot
So few weapons with it and I don't think any scale with arcane. Seems to be used as a "tacked on effect"
>frost
Frost is decent. It bursts and reapplys like bleed but it procs slower and less damage to a frostbit enemy. It still slows stam regen but I think that got nerfed slightly
there’s that mushroom helmet that gives a damage buff too. still inferior to bleed talisman/mask + seppuku though
What the fuck's the difference between the Poison Pot and the Fetid Pot?
the buff only lasts like 20 seconds
nope
What level do you invade at with your poison build?
fetid is toxic
The rot knights in the swamp drop them.
with a .0001% drop rate. call me when theres an actual farm
hey buddy...
you can use poison mist ash and black whetblade to make a blood antspur rapier and then use the skill to apply poison to the weapon so you have the only triple status weapon in the game.
Isn't Scarlet Rot ER's toxic?
Sleep seems so tacked on, do any enemies do sleep damage?
I feel like they will never buff poison in ER as it shares the same niche as scarlet rot, and since that's the new thing they wouldn't want poison to overtake
Scarlet Rot is toxic on steroids.
So they can be farmed.
>sleep damage
some crabs, weirdly enough
"no"
they could make poison easier to apply with less damage and it would basically have the same niche but in a different way.
So in other words I'm right and you're wrong
You can use poison as pretty much free DoT you know. Apply it, then switch to a stronger weapon and continue to fight as normal while you get some extra damage build up. It's typically not that hard to apply. Like when starting a boss for example, enter the room and use a shortbow to pump a few serpent arrows into them with barrage.
5 enemies in a scarlet rot pool with abysmal drops are not a farm kek
why do they even include poison if they always have an alternative that's the same but way fucking better? i didn't even find a way to use poison until everything had at least 1000 hp in ER
Why the fuck can't you Ash of War Serpent Bone Blade
It uses regular smithing stones to upgrade
Those floating balls made up of stone faces. I think their aoe fog attack is sleep
You can. If you want to go full meme, powerstance poison infused antspur.
If anything poison could get nerfed. Depends on how they decide to nerf the OP statuses (bleed, madness).
you're right but it's the most cancerous farming in ER
Probably because you can't infuse rot on weapons.
Just a couple big crabs in the Academy afaik.
The question there is if the poison damage is worth it vs. having just hit them with a stronger weapon. I was a faith build so rot breathing most bosses at the start was always worth it but rots DoT is insane.
I like frost buffed katanas for double proc
AHHHH IM POOOOOOOKING
Reminder that poison bundles will instaproc poison sometimes if you get a full hit on people.
There's another method but I'm not telling you until you admit I'm right.
