Anyway it being a children's series didn't stop me from looking up and finding porn of charizard cumming to the hilt inside of ash more than a decade ago.

It's a huge shame, PLA is a giant step in the right direction for the series.

Actually the story in Pokémon games is so minimal they should just ignore it to give more freedom to the players.
Make the Pokédex, rival, gym/league, evil team, legendaries, etc. to be separate arcs that can be pursued in any order or all at once.

Since turn-based combat is inherently dull and easy the games cannot fall back on gameplay to be considered good. This means they need to look at other avenues such as graphics/artstyle, narrative/storytelling, characterization. Unironically their best choice t9 getting more consumer's either into or to like the game would be leaning into Persona territory to try and take their audience. Turn-based will never be good games, but they can atleast be good times, see every FF

Even as a huge Pokémon bootlicker I was amazed by how little PLA added yet how much more the formula becomes with just a little freedom and open-ness.
It's easily my favorite 3D Pokémon game. I really don't think I could enjoy going back to the old formula after this.
