I never cared for spear even after I unlocked most of its skill tree. Sword, Tonfa, Splitstaff and Fists were my go to weapons. Honorable mention to Dual Swords and Kusa.

Maybe the default fov doesn't suits you. You could try changing it using cheats, I could also advice you to try playing in ultrawide by making a custom resolution, that always helped me a lot against dizziness but Yea Forums act completely retarded about ultrawide ratios lately so I guess you'll have to just deal with feeling sick? lol.
