Final Fantasy XIVs writers

How so?

EA Sports, Cawadooty, Souls, and any other franchise that shits out low quality rehashes on the regular.

>Shits stuff on the regular and is highly praised with only just a couple good stuff
Junichi Masuda.

Kojima

Do you mean as a director or as a composer?

Kojima, because he's a hack fraud

>talentless hack riding on his wave of success in the 80s/90s
Yep checks out

Kojima

How is he wrong though, Putin and Trump were bros.

Why did he lose his mind?

I honestly forget aris is a real person and not just a a beard with a face.

YO DONNIE

Steve Danuser

He's an old white man who lives in a 95% white community. He's also rich and has never worked hard labor in his whole life. Of course he'd lose his mind and become like (((that)))

>never worked hard labor in his whole life
Wrong

Stephen King lives in a cabin in rural maine with no internet connection.

Hes not human.

because he was from a better time and place and the world broke him.

who made silent hill?
that guy, whoever he is.

i think i hit that exact amount of drunk where i go from being hilarious to maudlin.

time to check out fellas.

He ascended.

Bloated and shit.

well he's obviously implying that Putin didn't move because, uh... Trump was weak I guess. So... that's why... hmm...

Sounds comfy honestly. I'd live like that but I need the internet for my job.

an overrated piece of shit that peaked on the 80's? idk man

I'd live like that except I'd probably start collecting a nest of dead animals in my cupboard.

So Atari?

i get that its fashionable to hate communists again but ukraine was committing ethnic genocide.

Who is the Tommy Wiseau of video games?

do you believe that, or are you just making it up to support your position?

I don't know, what videogames feature gangbangs of 13-year olds?

Tetsuya Nomura, probably. Early FF had consistent if outlandish designs, but now things are swinging wildly around. KH has parallels with Dark Tower including visiting reality, and both of them are mostly known for their early works.

Seriously addicted to drugs, was clipped by a van, scared sober. That's some major life whiplash. Most artists with his former lifestyle necked themselves.

SWERY

i don't remember.

i remember there being some conflict on eastern ukraine, but not whether it was before or after the ruling party was deposed.

I wouldn't blame eastern ukrainians for joining the seperatist movement after the current regime had the opposition leader arrested for trumped up charges on a crooked oil deal.

>was clipped by a van
i think he got sober way before he got clipped by that van.

he was writing about AA in the shining, guy is pretty transparent as a self insert.

>stopped working and lives on Twitter
Noah Antwiler.

>tfw I found Tom Clancy's twitter the other day and it's still up with his tweets just abruptly ending in 2013

Kek

if only he was a game programmer who got addicted to porn instead, his life lessons and story would have been so much more poignant and impactful on my life.

I had to reach adulthood just as literature gave its last dry heave, didn't I?

Just want to point out I've been reading through Stephen King's books chronologically since my brother is a big fan and I had never read them before and I'm up to Cujo and I have no idea how this dumb fucker ever became popular. His books are complete and utter shit, the only decent one was The Shining and even that has tons of problems. All of his books are just pure meandering bullshit.

i wish i could have been a novelist.

My first book got me d-noticed, it wasn't particularly political or graphic, it just raised a lot of disturbing questions that must have kicked up a hornets nest.

there are powers, man. and when they shut you down, you cease to exist.

Mr. King, please. You are a well respected author in our community and you self deprecating humor is not needed here.

yeah

Could be I'm mixing things up, but I recall him talking about how that 'brush with death' gave him clarity which helped him get past his drug use. Might be me misremembering, might be King post-hoc authoring himself a more dramatic life story.

>pretty transparent as a self insert
'Oh boy, how will I finish Dark Tower? I know! Their world is made by a writer who is me, the villains dimension-hop with a van to try and kill me, and the heroes divert the van, saving me and their world!'

Also I bought cell, you owe me 7.50.

Well at least you admit your making shit up.

Half-Life writers

Like most mega successful people he was just in the right place at the right time. Horror novels were HUGE in the 70's with The Exorcist, Rosemary's Baby, etc being big his. Carrie came out right at that perfect time when everyone was gobbling all that up and launched him into superstardom. He's been riding that wave ever since.

Elden ring

Kings a lot of things, hes dry, long winded, goofy, corny, outdated.

But he generally had something other people lack. He had belief. Thats what made his worlds real, while he was in them, they were absolutely, 100% real, they suck you in because somehow, he just believes, so you do to.

Thats rare. Thats not something you can find everywhere.

What percent of the posts are just going to be I don't like writer therefore game dev who I don't like is the vidya equivalent?

Kojima doesnt mass produce games

All the main characters of the DT absolutely fucking hate Stephen King for his bullshit.

*big hits
I also forgot to mention The Amityville Horror among others.

hyperbole often carries a ring of truth.

Definitely Kojima. Both of their works walk a fine line between genuinely good, and absolute garbage.

all of them.

Midwit writer for midwit readers plus EEUU being on the eight of their cultural domination.
It's not rocket science.

"The real challenge and the real opportunity is keeping our focus on gameplay. That is what is unique, special and appealing about games as a form of entertainment. When we forget that, and decide it's monetisation or other things that are not gameplay-focused, when we start to forget about making great games and start thinking about games as a vehicle or an opportunity for something else, that's when we stray a little bit further from the path."

Sid Meier

that, or i'm just a terrible speller.
>so you do to.
*too

Sounds more human than the rest of us.

are they really games though?
can you really call something that complex games?

they were meant for education, that has always been their purpose, not entertainment. you never stopped to ask what you were teaching our kids.

I finished reading The Exorcist last night. Not bad but holy fuck the detective character was so annoying and pointless.

just use release it under pen name in internet?
after you gain some popularity they won't be able to refuse

What is d-noticed?

Didn't this guy write about a bunch of lolis having an orgy? Yea Forums should worship him

neanderthals were probably more compassionate and easy going than homo-sapiens, but we crushed their heads in with a rock.

Suda 51 somewhat. Kojima can't write well enough.

I have only ever read Misery by him and it was ok.

mandatory dick inspection list

We you spend decades snorting 100% pure Columbian snow and writing books about kids gangbanging you tend to over correct later in life.

Seething brainlet

Dreamcatcher

Sid Meier is based beyond dobt.

11/22/63 because I fell in love with the woman in it.

I'm not sure I could explain.
Its like one minute, you exist, the next, your like a ghost.
anytime you try to talk about it, anytime you bring it up, people just kind of look away, like they didn't hear you or something.
If you persist, they get uncomfortable. There is this wierd dissonance, you feel like your being gaslighted or that they are purposely ignoring you, but they are not, they just sort of stare off into space..

its fucking weird. you know all those scenes in those old movies where something fantastic happens and the protagonists is tripping over themselves trying to get themselves or the people around them to get past their denial?

its like that, only in real life. My book flopped because there was something deeply unsettling about the concepts i wrote about, something that made people put the book down because they were uncomfortable.

it wasn't sex, it wasn't politics, it wasn't racism or anti-semiticism or misogyny or any of that, they just didn't like the idea that the mind could be programmed, it was too true to life in a way.

holy shit, kek.

more of that dry wit. love it.

John Romero

John Carmack

Stephen King is known as one of the greatest horror writers of all time
Meanwhile Robert McCammon somehow faded into obscurity. What a fucking travesty.

The Stand is very good. So is IT, and 11/22/63 was surprisingly solid for a later King work.
I'd go
1. The Long Walk (pure dystopian schlock, I love it)
2. Nightmares and Dreamscapes (LONGER THAN YOOU THINK DAD!, the raft, etc.)
3. 11/22/63

you know how disturbing the Manchurian Candidate was when it came out?

Well, just imagine a whole book about that, only on a societal scale. I admit it was a bit clumsy and amateurish, but i don't think that was why people kept putting it down. I did manage to cannibalize it for a couple of very good short stories though.

no one read those either.

>writes books
>hasn't read George Orwell
user, it's called unpersoning.

Thanks for the blast from the past. Most Kojimadrones dropped the formulaic response "you're too dumb to understand Kojima" after 20 years of it continuously not working but you're keeping the tradition alive.

>what is irony

The Stand is probably my favorite book of his. Its a grind, and the dues ex machina was a bit frustrating but not entirely inappropriate.

I bought Nightmares and Dreamscapes for my mom as a present to myself for mothers day, classic dickhead teenager move. Loved the short stories in that book, read it cover to cover.

I haven't read all of his bachman books, The Long Walk specifically, but I liked Rage, think it was the only thing I ever read by him that wasn't sc-fi / horror / fantasy. Really struck a chord with my asshole teenage self.

Might have saved me and a couple of other kids from a bullet too.

The Stand is like 1/3 really good. The rest of it is fucking garbage boring shit. When they finally all gather at the town and have their little town meetings and other bullshit for 300 pages I nearly threw the book against the wall.
The Long Walk was okay. I enjoyed the character interactions, but I thought the entire concept for the story wasn't very believable. Also the ending, like most King endings, was horseshit.

Am I the only one that liked Revival?
Pretty good ending reveal for a Kings book

King would not make it into the tip 200 list of a best writers list in History.
Imagine having 5.000 years of written Human History and you pick fucking Stepthen King.
