What went wrong?

What went wrong?
And will it ever return?

Capcom is retarded and likes to constantly make poor decisions and not listen to fans

Canadians, and no. There wasn't even a hint of it in that huge Capcom leak awhile back, it's dead as a doornail. Just be glad we got a pc port of 1.

Keiji Inafune and CAPCOM got to arguing and Inafune was subsequently fired. Dead Rising is then whored out, it sucks. The end.

not letting the actual devs make a true sequel. I'd rather have nothing than what the canadian capcom shat out

>what went wrong
A fucking leaf
>spoiler
I hope not

1>2>3>CTYD>ZERO>4
i have not played case west/off the record
i like all but 4 a lot, 3 is good just a little too easy to level up
i've been hard on 2, but a recent play though softed me on it
CTYD is a fun little sidegrade, really not worth getting a wii for it though, not sure how it emulates

So Canadians ruined something again, that makes me hate 4 even more

I adore Dead Rising but it's okay for things to just end

I replay the first one every October, such a masterpiece.

2 3 and 4
no

I don't get how someone can like 1 but dislike 2
Sure it's easier but it is a true sequel unlike 3 and 4

Capcom was too trustworthy of those stupid leafs. Microsoft also had responsibility in this mess as well.

>tfw taking the long way to avoid going outside
Those guys scared me until I figured out their weaknesses.

the only thing that went wrong is capcom got westernised
they stopped allowing japanese sub-development groups to work on entire games for the most part, and began forcing cross mixing and outsourcing upon it
soulless pricks who had no prior care or attachment to the franchise came to work on it, they were paid actors pretending they knew what fans wanted to sell a pile of garbage to them
pretty much american bullshit, as usual
everyone knows when you say "western" you mean america, and when you say america you mean california and jews
fuck 'em all

weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeell

play off the record, it's the second best in the series and offers a sandbox mode for when you want to just screw around for hours at a time without any story/timers. it had the best of both worlds and not enough people played it.
otherwise your list is correct
>1 > Off The Record > 2 > 3 > Chop Till You Drop > Case West > Zero > eating dirt > 4
I'm tempted to put 3 above 2, just because there's really no reason to play it with OTR around, and 3 is a fun sandbox game.

What do you mean how?

It's like a cheap Chinese knockoff compared to the original.

not him but i kinda hated it when i tried it
>animations are Saints Row-tier, nothing has any weight behind it whereas DR1 had incredibly satisfying animations
>combo cards while seemingly a good idea are taken way too far in letting you just break the game's balance and atmosphere by making star wars lightsabers out of combining gems and flashlights
>boring main character whereas Frank is one of the most likable protags in all of vidya
>over-corrected in regards to survivor escorting, now zombies can barely ever hit them on top of the more competent AI. In DR1 escorting was always tense and you had to keep track of where people were at all times. Sure the AI sucked but at least it resulted in tense gameplay. Escorting in DR2 is braindead. DR2 lets you get away with just running into giant zombie hordes with multiple survivors and making it through without a scratch

I disagree

I'd say just kind of general flanderization, except on a total series-wide span. 1 was goofy but it took itself mostly seriously like a cheesy b-movie, and despite the silly means you could use to defend yourself it still managed to stay mostly grounded. then 2 decided that you can just make fucking wacky looney tunes ducttape weapons and the series just got wackier from there.
even apart from general tone they also put too much focus on the zombies. they went from a hazard you had to operate around to targets you got to blow up before you felt like doing another mission.
basically they picked off the more eccentric side elements and disregarded what made the whole thing work. I feel like it has a lot in common with the saints row series, just kind of ditched the more serious tones for the wacky dumb action and the games suffered for it

The series needs a reboot. Give me a new Dead Rising with a new protagonist in the RE Engine and, most importantly, put a Jap team on it.

If you are warm on 2, I highly recommend Off the Record. I held off playing it for many years and recently played it, I enjoyed it way more than vanilla 2.

HE AIN'T MY BOY BUT THE BROTHER IS HEAVY

The first game had the mega buster, a lightsaber and let you disembowel zombies with your bare hands. But sure it's much more grounded in realism.

>more aggressive looters
>jumpscare instant-grab zombies
>beginnings of "I've covered wars Ya Know" was a meme so lets make that Frank's entire personality" shit rampant in 4
Off the record was two steps forward, one step back

>special superweapons you get for beating the game several times = being able to make a unibeam with a microwave
you're fucking retarded, you know that?

Kek

Thanks for acknowledging that the first game did in fact also have nonsensical shit. The goalposts will remain where they originally stood though.

To be fair those are both impossible to unlock.
But yeah it's dumb to say realistic, the grounded part I'd say is that titakes itself a bit more seriously. The wacky shit is mostly your doing, but everything else played more for tragedy & horror.

There's a boss that puts a bunch of sharp shit on a shopping cart and uses it to run you down. The game is full of wacky shit.

I didn't say it didn't, I just said it wasn't the focus. the nonsensicality in 1 came from you willingly dressing frank up as a robot in drag and hitting zombies with frying pans. the games proceeded to make that tone more the focus later on. you're genuinely fucking stupid if you can't tell the difference between voluntary nonsense and having it forced on you.

2 was a decent sequel, everything afer that was poor quality

It IS more grounded, you fucking retarded faggot. Did you even bother reading his post?

that's miles away from the teleporting santa claus boss in 4

>man goes insane, weaponizes whatever he can to defend himself in an apocolypse scenario
>OH MAN THIS IS EXACTLY LIKE A FAT CHICK ON A HOVEROUND THAT VOMITS ON YOU

>NOOOOOO IT DOESN'T COUNT BECAUSE I SAID SO
Cope

So one step forward?

how do you cope with the wackiest game in the series (4) killing it off for good?

I feel like theres better series to post lame bait in the threads of than fucking dead rising. theres like twelve people left and I'm pretty sure one of them is dead.

Do you have the eyes of a dog? Can you only see in black and white?

guarantee you are a fucking leaf

In a very inefficient way.

Rascists

>Canadians are their own race
I agree

They dropped any pretext of having a storyline and embraced absurdism. Also DR4

Dude you're telling me that you didn't like "FrankWestIsBack" in 4???

I've covered wars was a meme from the moment players experienced it in the first game.

>Frank West
More like wank fest

Do you mean Fred East
I enjoyed 3 but then again I played it duo with a friend so I never experienced it solo.
Just thinking about 4 makes me want to vomit

i've played the first one at least a dozen times. i tried 2 for few hours and hated it. im too bitter to judge the sequels in a vaccuum because i adore the first game. it's in my top 5 greatest of all time

Lol no, there's unironically a better chance at getting Dragon's Dogma 2 that another DR
>They tried to make DR but the last of us
>DR but Assassin's Creed
>DR but Dark souls
Glad It's dead, 4 was bad enough

Attached: 1649041514370.jpg (483x554, 48.08K)

It was wrong from the very beginning. The first game was the jankiest pile of shit I have ever played. A horrible beat 'em up with the bulk of the gameplay being time limited NPC escort missions. It's an absolute stinker. The only thing good about it was the humor and whackiness.

>They tried to make DR but the last of us
Are you talking about DR2? Do you realize that came out over 3 years before The Last of Us lmao

Attached: 1524013196111.gif (236x224, 1.89M)

No, those were the hypothetical sequels to DR4

What

Capcom Vancouver was planning different sequels to DR4, one was a full on reboot inspired by The last of us, another one was a Soulslike game taking place in Mexico, and another one was supposed to include AC-like parkour

So, if you were in charge of making DR5, what location would you use and who would be your protagonist?

Wow if that's true then that has destroyed my faith in a proper reboot even further

>Location
Either a luxurious cruise ship or a theme park a la Disney world
>Protagonist
I would rather have an original character

>location
Another fictional, gigantic mall
Why would anyone want anything else?
