Kind of. It has a guy named Pate with leather armor and a spear that actually warns you about dangerous situations, but it becomes clear he's trying to win your trust so you can help him fight Creighton, who is chasing him and wants to kill him. Evidently, canonically, the bearer of the curse sided with Creighton, considering that he shows up in DS3 and Pate does not. And as it turns out, Creighton was probably lying about having good reason to want to kill Pate, and is just a regular murderer.

He's not actually patches, because he has a different voice actor and patches survived all the way to the end of DS3 while Pate is implied to have been killed in DS2.

Never finished ds3. I wasn't a fan of the direct continuity connections to ds1 and its inability to go 30 seconds without reminding you of the other games. I honestly really liked how 2 might have been set in the same general area or maybe not, and its plot was mostly stand alone
