Baten Kaitos and Baten Kaitos Origins are the best RPGs from their generation.
Will we see Baten Kaitos 2 some day?

This thread will die but I must tell you that you have great taste user.
I hope it'll have a little success
Bless you Anons, noone else I know has even heard of this game, but I loved it when I was younger
I remember trying this out. I dunno why I didnt play it for longer. I might have borrowed the game.
Gonna try and remember to emulate it in the future
good games, while origins felt more streamlined (and had an excellent english dub imo,) the gameplay of the first game was a lot better feeling once you get cards with multiple numbers on them. i loved getting straights and i wish that one armor that gives you confusion and makes the numbers move around in a circle could be obtained earlier, it made battling so much more engaging
savyna best girl

Once Nintendo lets Honne out of the asset-making dungeon that is Monolith Soft Kyoto. If we're being pedantic, Origins was already called 2 in Japan.
Both games were great, bought them both day one and still own them, the towns are really fucking comfy and the graphics were great

I doubt it, it's kind of sad because some guys at Monolith wants to do it, but it seems like the series is completely forgotten.
When you talk about it in those shitty smash threads, literally no one know about it.
I remember that it was still popular for a lot of RPG players between 2008-15, but now, it's clearly dead.
>Tales of Symphonia
>Paper Mario
>Skies of Arcadia
>Fire Emblem: PoR
GC had few RPG's but they were great
Had it, didn't make it that far in. Stopped around the time that dude said he put a spell on me, the player, to forget some shit.
Wouldnt mind finishing it on an emulator. It was a surreal kind of RPG with its art style and presentation.
This game voice acting is FUCKING HORRIBLE. I'm unusually not picky about dub because i'm too lazy to read all the text but this one is so BAD that i have to turn it off
Its same level bad as The House of the Dead dub
Remember when there were rumours of a Baten Kaitos DS game?
SAY CHEESEBURGER
Undub version is perfect.
It was actually announced but shelved.
I genuinely liked both equally. I really like what they did with the combat system especially. Changing it enough to be really different but very reminiscent of the first one at the same time.
Tales and Paper Mario are among the comfiest jrpgs
My only gripe with the undub(unless it got fixed) is that a prayer Xelha recites is off, leading to Kalas speaking during the final line. It would be fine if it only happened once, but that exact dialog is reused at least twice.
I kind of want to play it again but I can't be bothered with an emulator.
Still my favorite JRPG plot twist entirely because it implies that YOUR memory of everything that happened between meeting Kalas and waking up in the farm village was wiped
Can't forget the dungeon design.
Fuck the shampoo
Bump.
I tried to emulate this on dolphin but I could not get past the 'tubular voices' audio glitch where it sounds like ever character is talking through a tube.
This was the jp version, not going to play the cucked translations
Not a glitch, that's just how the audio was recorded. The english audio did the game thing.
damm I guess I'll try and struggle through it then, its quite disturbing
I played the first game about a year ago, and this is the most memorable thing for me. The main girl party member was especially atrocious. I also recall a really sweet bassline in the song that plays in one area, I think it was some sort of black space-like place.
Other than that, I found the game okay. Kind of long and winding, and I hated digging through my cards and finding some had changed without me knowing.
put the music setting on surround, it might help
Origins was a lot better in the audio apparent, even the dub was miles better than the first game.
>Other than that, I found the game okay. Kind of long and winding, and I hated digging through my cards and finding some had changed without me knowing.
Origins also improved on this as well by letting you know when something changed.
>prequel
so just play that one instead?
Release order ya fool
Is it that bad?
I was always really interested in the original, I like the idea behind the world and the battle system intrigues me, but can someone tell me more about either?
I like the wings and floating continents of the first game a lot, pictures would be nice to see
The tube audio? Its not really as bad as people are making it out to be.
