Playing Doom 3, almost at the end. Finishing it for the first time.
It really grinds my gears because at times it clicks and feels like a really interesting take on Doom, but other times it's just so lame

I prefer Quake

What's the best difficulty to play Colorful Hell on? I try UV but I just get my dick surgically removed.

It's the comat. The aesthetics and atmosphere are top notch but then it's brought down by really slolw paced and boring combat. The slow pace isn't even inherently the bad thing but the weapons and enemies just have boring behavior.

Just finished barrels of fun on ultra violence. Jesus christ that level is a nightmare, speaking of which I can't even imagine how bullshit it must be on that difficulty.

Doomfag here. Ill post my list of Doom mods that are either personal favorites or ones I at least consider worth playing once (see Brutal Doom). R8, h8, and recommend others I may have overlooked. If you're new to Doom then download the base games, download your source port(s) of choice, then download ZDL to load up multiple mods at once as well as generally having a loader for all your games, mods, and source ports.

got this from Yea Forums some time ago, might be useful

Posting the best doom vid created.

youtube.com/watch?v=HJcf0aOwmiA

Death Foretold 2.5 through Whispers of Satan.
It's pretty fun, but I miss the Shotgun-Tier Reaper from the earlier versions.

Where's Action Doom 2?

Never knew about this so might try it. UV is the intended difficulty on everything so keep on going

Playing The Plutonia Experiment on Nightmare. Fun as fuck, I dig it.

Brutal Doom is objectively the best way to play Doom. Otherwise the original games have aged like complete shit.

great list, I've got to check these out.

I like Colorful Doom.

complex doom will always be the superior doom wad ever.

I really gotta stop overloading myself on WADs, I at least want to finish Eviternity before Eternal comes out.
Speaking of Eternal we recently got some new gameplay of the Doomhunter boss
youtu.be/oJQHdamo_BY
youtu.be/BDcY5InUAJY

I'll be replaying soon Doom 3 on Veteran and then on Nightmare. How hard is it on Nightmare? I'll be savescumming so I doubt it will be very frustrating, but was just wondering

so when replaying the games before eternal its canonical order is?
>doom 3
>doom, knee deep in the dead, shores of hell
>doom 3 resurrection of evil
>doom, inferno, thy flesh consumed(optional)
>doom 2
>doom 64
>doom 2016

I'm not convinced Doom 3 is canon, or at least to the point that it's important

>doom 3

based, super fun in coop

Im considering playing through Doom 3 using the VR mod. It seems like the atmosphere and sound design would really make the experience immersive as fuck

Play it on UV user you'll make it. Are you playing with any weapon mods?

Good on you for pushing through user, I think Barrels o Fun is bullshit but still a memorable shitpost level

Which mods you playan through today user?

That reminds me, I still gotta check out Samsara

neat.jpg

>Where's Action Doom 2
In my mod list now. Ill check it out after some ProDoomer user

Fuck yeah user glad you're having a good time, top-tier wad

Try playing through something like Thunderpeak or Back to Saturn X using Guncaster or Trailblazer, or just play through Anicent Aliens without secondary mods then see if you feel the same. Or dont, just a recommendation

Finish Eviternity then play through a couple short TCs like Ashes 2063 or Strange Aeons

Attached: 1582594394642.jpg (720x450, 52K)

Just started Brutal Doom 64. Never played the original but so far it’s sweet. Kinda hard though.

They did my girl dirty again. Looks useless aside from breaking shields, and using the same ammo as the gauss again just means there's even less of a reason to use it.
Having both a machine gun and chaingun was a mistake.

Attached: file.jpg (900x507, 48K)

I want to finally beat Plutonia on UV but honestly can't be bothered, those maps are just annoying.
Is Sunlust worth playing on HMP?

Attached: tumblr_ov0xiaZPss1szcxzqo1_1280.jpg (1280x876, 312K)

idk I might use it still because the popping sound is so nice.

I dismissed it as mediocre and forgettable at first but I came back around to like it, maybe even love some parts.
I just hate that when it finally feels like the game is putting on the big boy pants and feels more like an actual Doom game, it stops to give me the fucking lamest iteration of the Cyberdemon as a final boss. Some fodder you kill easily and 4 Soul Cube uses and that's yer lot.

Resurrection of Evil was far better although the Artifact does grow to be fucking ridiculous by the end
>bro wanna have invulnerability, slow time *and* kill enemies in one or two punches
>you thought it'd be precious? nah you can just recharge it with the corpses lying around everywhere

I'm now replaying 2016 on Nightmare, and fuck if I'm rusty. I die even on the rune challenges.

Attached: 1574547221662.png (250x233, 69K)

Nope, plain old Doom.

3 > 4 > 1 > 2

Its a bit different but I really enjoy Doom 64. Havent tried the Brutal Doom 64 version though

I hope they can surprise me and give me a reason to use both

Im currently playing Sunlust with Smooth Doom on UV. It can be bullshit at times but its still enjoyable, go for whichever difficulty you feel though user

I havent actually played Resurrection of Evil yet. Maybe I should add that to the list before Eternal comes out

Based

Attached: 1582591159162.gif (320x240, 80K)

Every bit of good Doom 3 did is negated by chaingunners that take 2 direct rockets to kill.

>Based
I realise I didn't make it clear to which I was replying to, but it was to the "playing with weapon mods" question

>I havent actually played Resurrection of Evil yet.
It does the combat and action a lot better than the main game, IMO.

It's basically "shit, HL2's physics were cool, let's do that", with included great value Xenomorph monsters included. It also re-introduces the Super Shotgun which is marginally better than the combat one.

It does the combat and action a lot better than the main game, IMO.

It was basically "shit, the Gravity Gun in HL2 was cool, let's do that" with added budget Xenomorph monsters and an actual final boss, although I still wonder why we kill Betruger in a DLC instead of the main game.

>What's the comfiest town or settlement in Tamriel?
The Ebony Flask tavern in ESO, when theres people RPing in the corner and the bard is playing this song.
youtube.com/watch?v=_JxVY1skkUA

user, are you having a stroke?

I figured user, Colorful Hell is one of my favorite gameplay overhauls actually. I like to pair it with DoomRLA

Thats good to hear, ive always hear positive things about RoE I just havent played through Doom 3 in years so ive never had the chance to check it out

For me, its The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall

Attached: 1580167435778.jpg (1500x1617, 466K)

Doom 3 exists in a parallel timeline so it isn't directly tied to 1, 2, and 4/eternal but it is in the same multiverse. It's basically just another timeline where the UAC opened a portal to hell with a different doom marine.

I put BTSX ep 1 on hold as I finish Doom 3. The base game was a fucking slog, but RoE has been actually fun so far. Time slow+super shotgun actually make the game fast and fun to play, though it's too easy and on the default difficulty.

It looks fucking perfect though.

The Call of Duty one is pretty cool

Max size, Max Enemy, 32 map OBLIGE wad with difficulty cranked up in DoomRPG/RLA.

I will never get sick of this shit.

Do you guys think opinions on the Doom series, which games are best, favorite maps, and favorite wads correlates with age? I know a lot of Doomfags are ultra boomers who came out of the womb playing this shit, but I'm 19 and only got into this whole series last year with Doom 2016.

Nobody playing Hell Forged still?

No, as with anything it's just based on taste. I'm 30 and grew up around Doom but never played it until my late teens for whatever reason. I love all the games in the series though and find pros and cons to all of them. I think Doom 1 is the best game in the series though and is one of the most perfect games ever made.

I agree with you. Doom 2016 was my first, and it's a great game, but IMO:
Doom 1 > Doom 2016 = Doom 64 > Doom 2 > Doom 3.

I got introduced to the series in 2016 with nuDoom. Pretty much all games i've played are at least good but the original one is easily the best for me. I'm super excited to play Doom 64 after Eternal, it's gonna be a great month

>I like Plutonia

Been trying the Sunder map pack with GunCaster

I havent tried it yet but ill add it to the list, thanks user. Ill admit I was a little put off by the realistic weapons. I just think it meshes too much with Doom's pixelated graphics but ill give it a chance

Fuck that sounds like a great time user, ive messed around with Oblidge but never with DoomRPG/RLA. Im gonna try it out right now

Im 23 but my uncle showed me Doom and Doom II around the age of 6 then introduced me to the modding community as a pre-teen. My favorite base game is the first Doom although ill admit its mostly due to the memories of playing through it with me uncle as a kiddo, but ive always came back to Doom II for the custom WADs and TCs

Just did my second playthrough of it last month, still as enjoyable as I remembered

How is it user? I played Sunder using Trailblazer personally. Guncaster feels overpowered but god damn it can be fun with the right map pack

Attached: 1580171162642.png (469x359, 72K)

Brutal Doom is objectively better than the original games in every single inconceivable way, and only nostalgia ridden boomers holding onto the their failing youth would disagree
>no free aim
>no recoil or gore
It's shit. The level design and music is fantastic though.

Attached: 1583120392384m.jpg (1024x635, 81K)

bait

First level is a rough start since you’ll only have access to a few weapons, but by the second you should have enough guns (and gold) to gear yourself up

Making my way through Project Brutality with Whitemare 1. I really admire the entire thing being snow based, but only a few of the maps are really fun. Could've trimmed out six maps so far.
You should absolutely be playing Colorful Hell with a PWAD like Combined Arms, Dakka, etc. Otherwise, good fucking luck.

it's basically the same thing as being a piratefag, pirating a shit ton of games and then never playing them

>Project Brutality (like above but more difficult and with its own variations)
Just want to add to this: PB adds loads more weapons, with upgrades to find throughout a given mappack, and loads more enemy types. Think of it as an expansion pack for Brutal Doom. All of these are configurable via the incredibly extensive options menu. There are innumerable versions of Project Brutality, and of the ones I've played, the August 2017 version is the best with the most amount of content and the barest minimum of fluff. Current versions of PB are doing some weird shit with the movement system to further differentiate from Brutal Doom, and it's pretty good, but August 2017 is damn near perfect:

Just start with something short and sweet user. You can play through a lot of really good WADs and TCs in 2-4 hour sittings. Ashes 2063, Thunderpeak, Strange Aeons, etc. Or just pick something like Pirate Doom thats fun to play in short bursts for like a week until its finished

Ill check it out if I get the itch to play through Sunder again user. Glad you're having a good time, I loved going through all the spells and upgrades my first time playing Guncaster

I havent had any issues with motion-sickness if that's what you're referring to but holy shit does it get spooky. Ive devoured my fair share of horror media in my lifetime but horror games in VR reduce me to a little babby sometimes

Holy fuck, thanks user

Well summed up user, my last Project Brutality playthrough was with the Japanese Community Project and it was a blast

Attached: 1581924156838.jpg (640x1408, 242K)

What do the upgrades replace? Blurspheres?

Nah blurspheres can be replaced by reinforcement doomguys, same as Brutal Doom. This can be turned off. Weapon upgrades (triple minigun, magazine pump action shotgun, quad barrel shotgun, etc.) have a chance to replace a weapon spawn on the map depending on your settings. i.e. if you run Chaotic, you can get a quad barrel on map02 of Doom II. If you run Tier 4, you probably won't get a quad barrel until map15.
