She then jokes about making the next bomb stronger, then proceeds to fuck up the passes later on. Again, no blood is directly on Barret's hands. He didn't plant the bomb. Everyone does the dirty work for him. Cloud plants the bomb twice. The change the remake is taking still leaves the moral ambiguity there. The plate is still Avaoanche's fault for playing right into Shinra's hand, and Barret will definitely catch shit for it by the Wutai main sect of Avalanche that Shinra is trying to frame.

FFVII was a game released so many years ago, it's not even funny. Very few people play classic jRPGs on a PC, decent amount of people on consoles, and the most - on portables. Switch is the same as PSP was ages ago -- remember when hacking made it work and suddenly we had threads about Vagrant Story? It's just that - people discover games by chance. Probably many heard of a FFVII remake, wanted to try the original, and here it is - released and "updated" on PC and consoles. Obviously for such an old title a portable is the best way to go, I did the same with my PSP Go and finished most of my PSX backlog on it, even when I had a PS2 with a chip and a way to burn PSX games for myself - it was just better to play it whenever.

DMC3 is on people's radars maybe because many of the people who talk about it usually go for Nintendo systems and (I think) this is the first time DMC came to a portable and a Nintendo console, so an obvious new group emerged?

My biggest concern is that, honestly, there is no point plot wise for spending 60 hours at Midgard. The only actually important events taking place there are meeting Aerith, Jenova escaping and hinting that somehow Sephiroth had returned. That´s literally all there is to Midgard story wise.
I mean, maybe they could use the extra time to explore the men in black capes or the relationships of Cloud with the Avalanche members so we would care about Jesse and the rest but that´s it.
However according to the trailers it seems there are other terrorist groups and we will se Cloud´s mind breaking up far sooner than the Nibelheim flashback to the point we will see Sephiroth fucking around in the reactors BEFORE Jenova is released and we find his sword. Add to that that there are other rogue SOLDIER members (which Shinra would never allow. Making a member of SOLDIER takes a lot of money, they wouldn´t just let them walk on them. They would send regulars and the Turks to deal with them) and that they said they would explore Cloud´s jack of all trades mercenary life (which means shit tier WRPG fetch questing) and you really have enough elements there to make this game a drag.

I love FF7 but I wouldn’t call it flawless in any sense of the word, it’s by far the most easy FF and FF isn’t known for being a hard series in anyway whatsoever except for the Cloud of Darkness I fucking hate her she is such a fucking bitch. It’s easiness far beyond excels even post-ultima FF6 in many areas - it’s very easy to simply not die at all for well into the first hours (the entirety of Midgar is very hard to die in) even if it’s your first time.

People don't realize how Square fucked this up. Sure, Shinra being the ones to blow up the reactor doesn't technically remove the fact Avalanche had every intent on sacrificing lives for their goals, but it DOES remove the idea they have blood on their hands. Ie, at worst, they realize they ALMOST made a terrible mistake if this ever comes to light that Shinra did it and not them, but fortunately, it was taken away before they did, so it's back to Shinra being the real bad guys.

In a sense, they should even thank Shinra now for saving them the more detrimental guilt they would have face later if they had killed innocents.

There is an abysmal difference between expanding over the original plot, characters and setting in a significant way and filling a world with meaningless secondary quests and characters that add nothing and fuck over stablished events, characters or can ruin the narrative pacing.
Considering what SE has done with the IP over the years it is safe to assume the second scenario is the one more likely to happen. The dark forces chasing after Aerith, the new terrorist group and new EX-SOLDIER members are some of the things that hint to an unfocused game.

Bullshit. Pacing is very important for story driven narratives to work. In order to work, the new stuff needs to fit with the stablished legacy that has defined the characters, the world and the narrative. SE has shown time and again that they don´t get why some things worked in the original FF VII.
Making Cloud open up and care about Midgar people or the planet early (which is what´s going to happen if Cloud ends up fetching flowers, rescuing kittens and whatnot) is as retarded as giving Sephiroth friends. Cloud didn´t care about the planet or Avalanche members or whatever, his obsesion with Sephiroth was driven by his desire of vengeance. He then progressively starts to care as a result of his journey and ends up finding himself.
Samewise Sephiroth didn´t have friends, he was always alone, isolated, unable to understand stuff like home or family. His desire to belong somewhere is what allows Jenova to deceive him in the first place and use those feelings to fuel his misanthropy.
The way i see it what SE is doing with FF VII R can have 2 possible outcomes. Either it rewrites character progression changing who Cloud is by making him closer to all those nameless grunts or have a 60 hours game where the character doesn´t grow at all. If you think there is a third option i would welcome some insight.

In the original game it was implied Sephiroth was manipulating Cloud to get close to Jenova who then acts as his body for the majority of the game. There are several scenes early on with a disembodied voice manipulating Cloud which is later revealed to be Sephiroth in his head.
