I just don't get it. I used to mod Halo 1, and applying textures is as simple as googling a render and pasting it into the texture slot, and boom your cliffs suddenly look better. Why can't they just take the gearbox Halo 1 with server browsers and good audio and working spawns, and literally just slap files of the Xbox textures and call it a day? What is the error in this logic? Why did they stick their dicks in the code for no reason other than to mess up the audio rather than just work with what they already had? Why don't remasters ever just WORK WITH WHAT THEY ALREADY HAVE? They always fuck the code up somehow

One has superior mods over the other.
There is good remasters such as ICO and Sotc on the PS3 where they literally ripped the files off a game disc/got the source code then tried to make it as accurate to the PS2 versions as they could.
343i has a proven track record of being complete shit. Halo 4 was shit, Spartan Assault was Shit, Spartan Strike was Shit, Halo 5 was shit and the original releases of the MCC was also completely fucking awful. Expecting them to release a good product is absolute lunacy

The issue isn't the textures, it's the use of particular effects (especially distance fog) and things like bump and specular maps which were highly specific to the Xbox version and flat out don't on PC at all, they would all need to be recreated and re-implemented from scratch.
It's more likely that the port was done from an unfinished beta.

No. Halo CEA is built on Halo PC and if they wanted to fix everything, they would have to start over from 0

The Refined Team's work can't fix the broken bump mapping and things like bump and specular maps which were highly specific to the Xbox version and flat out don't on PC at all, they would all need to be recreated and re-implemented from scratch.

Halo CE on MCCPC is a port of Halo CE Anniversary from MCC on Xbone, which was a port of Halo CE Anniversary for the Xbox 360, which used Halo CE PC by Gearbox as a base.
The only way you will EVER play the REAL Halo CE the way it was meant to be played is by using an original xbox disc on an original xbox.
You can hack your Xbox and pirate it, so you don't have to use an original disc.
