Had this problem too, my solution is to set it to sleep after a minute so it shuts down itself.
That way it doesn't wake up on it's own.

I'm still using windows 7 and will continue to do so until I do a full system upgrade in a year or two. I'll pretty much have to switch to windows 10 then and I'm really not looking forward to it, might just do a dual boot with some linux distribution and keep windows just for games and microsoft office.

I can't ever put my computer to sleep anymore. It always hangs at a black screen now. Sometimes it'll even do that when I shut down. I'm always forced to do a hard shut down. Only time I can shut down now is if I restart first.

If you use any modern processor your shit is wide open to LEOs and alphabets and no amount of hardening will secure them
Most modern processors are basically systems unto themselves and can do things completely independent of the rest of the system and in some cases have limited wireless communication capability, so even airgapping wouldn't really help if such capabilities were exploited

viruses can spread in a lot of ways, most aren't just executables. CCleaner had a node that delivered updates compromised a while back, so updating software you already had could lead to compromise as they just bundled it into the normally (still fully functioning) process.

Macro enabled excel/word files can do weird shit, normally listening functions on your OS can have exploitable loopholes that can be found by random ping sweeps by remote sources.

One of the many straws that shattered the camel's back for me. Just went to consoles. This shit isn't worth it. Considering most of the time you'll end up playing a console port and will have to deal with segmented bullshit and DRM. God PC is so fucking trash. Then again, one of the pioneers of PC gaming, Valve, has gone to shit too so I lost hope after Episode 2. Console is a better overall experience. Games work and it's fun. No bullshit. Hardest part for me was getting used to controller because I know I'll never have the precision of a mouse back, but I don't give a fuck. Controllers feel better than keyboard and mouse to me, aside from aiming.

Just make the switch. Almost all of your games will still work. Uninstall all the shit you don't want and get classic shell to replace the start menu. Windows 10 isn't perfect by any means, but its darn sure more convenient when it comes to driver support and performance. The underlying shit you can disable most of.
