Spear/longsword/falchion

Can someone name some games that do this? I'm a sucker for weapon/build variety; I have like 600 hrs in Dark Souls 2 for this exact reason

Punching daggers are so cool, but almost always have shitty movesets. I gravitate toward magic when possible but otherwise prefer Rapiers. Dex based swords with medium-long range.

Also, I really fucking miss the 3 and 3.5 core books. The aesthetic was so much better than the bland garbage that was 4 and 5e.

Greatsword, so I can feel like a sick duelist. Or Elric.
Bastard sword works just as well. Daggers are cool, so are kukri. No video game has a sling, prove me wrong.

prolly a lance or a spear, I dont know why but i like them a lot and they dont have a lot of representation in games (that i know of)

Almost everyone in existence is going to go with a faggot sword of some kind because people are sheeple who the media fooled into thinking swords are cool

the chad chikage, thanks for asking

Attached: 1555230523365.jpg (1920x1242, 381K)

for me it's the poleaxe

Attached: pic_spot_poleaxe17.jpg (800x600, 52K)

>Two-Bladed Sword
>Dire Flail
>Gnome-Hooked Hammer
Only retards actually used these """weapons""".
They were just made for intimidation or as decoration.

Pretty sure plague tale has a sling

t. faggot mace user

>two bladed sword
>dire flail
>Hooked hammer

Attached: 185431354.png (868x609, 855K)

for me, it's the Dire Flail, because it optimizes my chances of dying

HEAVY PICK

>be goblin
>have goblin leather armor, a rusty dagger, a short bow and four arrows
>dwarf wearing a helmet and a human's chainmail hauberk has cornered you in your warren
>he's spinning rapidly while dual wielding light flails

Dungreed I guess. Once you've upgraded the town a bit you will always have a decently sized variety of random weapons to start with.

Usually a knife.
Otherwise a spear or a flail.

>try to hit someone with dire flail
>somehow turn both penis and asshole into ground beef in one swing

DLC Update

If your character can use them all equally as well, then pick the one that hits hardest or hits fastest.

If there is a skill imbalance, then pick which ever gives the best balance of movement and dps.

>No spear

monster hunter i guess

Spiked chain looks like a well fun way to fuck up your day.

legend of mana

I'm not really into cinematic/stealth games, but the girl is cute. The helmeted guy looks rad.
Maybe I'll write this one down.

dual wield flails

Path of exile for build variety.

There arent many games that give you different weapons and different skill sets for each weapon.
One I tried recently is black desert online. It tries but falls short due to imbalance.

>Two-Bladed Sword
>Dire Flail
I also like exploding my kidneys on accident.

What a stupid image.

>martial classes can use all the weapons in the game, like 50+ weapon types
>Weapon Focus feat trees are for literally one specific weapon, not weapon families (ie ONLY greatsword, not swords or 2handed weapons)
>optimization encourages you to specialize in a single weapon
>GM gets to decide what weapons drop as loot, what weapons shops sell. Enjoy being stuck with your +0 Warhammer while +3AnyOther Weapons are being doled out like candy

Why do they do this

Attached: images (2).png (654x469, 26K)

javelin. I like the flexibility of getting to use it in both ranged and melee.

spiked chain is super busted for 3.5

if they actually followed the rules as written, it's supposed to be pretty easy to just use money to upgrade your weapons or commission your weapons. However most DMs are shit at understanding the fantasy world economies and make blacksmiths or enchanters capable of making gear insanely rare, even in major cities. Or they just wont give parties time in towns to go shopping, which fucks over melee character players way more than magic users who basically just need to sleep to be at full strength for their level

Mace, mace and mace
Warband

based poleaxe

Polearms of any kind.

Swaxe.

Is a dire flail real? How is it used in game/irl?

For me, it's balanced courtblade.

Baldur's Gate has a sling

We here in high society don't usually mention peasant weapons, but here you go.

Attached: DNDWeapons3rdEd1.jpg (2001x1439, 269K)

Horizon Zero Dawn has a couple of slings.

A man of culture.

Flails are the ultimate chad weapons

halberd for first playthrough, spiked gauntlet for second

>peasant weapons
t. butthurt noble

Attached: Cavalry.jpg (1024x724, 288K)

Summon Night Swordcraft Story lets you pick from swords, spears, axes, knuckles/claws, and drills and your backup weapon is a hammer. But that's a JRPG/side-on action game hybrid.

Attached: Swordcraft Story.png (1600x1080, 2.14M)

Longsword. All around weapon for MURDER

What the fuck is that heavy lance?

1. Biological weapons (Giant bug arms, claws, all that good shit)
2. Lances
3. Flails
4. Giant fucking hammers
5. Scythes
I can and will magefag if your game has shit weapons

Attached: arms.png (1346x760, 412K)

>gs version
>2d6 slashing + 2d6 fire
>all gets rerolled by GWF
>doubles as light source
>only rare

hm yes I'm thinking based

Your mom's dildo

Oh fuck accidentally quoted random post.

Bit small isn't it?

Spear, shortsword, curved sword, anything else. In that order.

For me its the Axiomatic human-slaying sonic burst keen glaive

You know, for a while I got really sick of swords but I've looped around and now all I want in my life is a nice plain straight sword. But other than that spears and polearms are the real shit.

What's the self harm rate of a dire flail?

I go for the spear, personally.
The swallow, pinwheel, giant boomerang, giant fan, and claw are also good.

Unarmed or bastard sized sword.

>No video game has a sling, prove me wrong.
You can use a sling in Chivalry. I swear I can remember a semi-recent game that had a sling too but it's escaping me.

mordhau?

Don't play anything past B/X, problem solved

For me, it's the zweihander.

Attached: zweihander.webm (614x376, 2.87M)

It's single use so it's not very well documented in history because the church didn't like depictions of gore outside of ecclestical works.

No slings in Mordhau unless they added them recently.

Spin2Win

spears are the weapons of valkyrie .
its fucking cool and noble.

it's either a strong, true spear or a scimitar for me, something about strong cutting swords are amazing

dagger

even better if dagger+shield melee frenzy stabbing

AXE

Attached: Yangus.jpg (800x700, 97K)

Wrong, I like how swordniggers always need to lash out at a specific party when they get called out for being tasteless pedestrians though.

Heavy mace + shield
Heavy pick looks pretty nice too.

For 3.5
If I'm power gaming? Spiked Chain
But I tend not to do that unless whoever's DMing says we should. I've had some pretty good campaigns where we just power game as much as possible and get thrown at high CR shit.

Regular campaign? Greatsword or Heavy Mace

lmao you don’t even have exotic weapon proficiency

If i can fight on horseback then the bow, if not then greatswords.

Attached: Turkish Bow.jpg (1200x800, 87K)

>dire flail

Twice the danger and half the efficiency of a regular flail.
Perfect.

I love me a good messer; too bad it's so rarely an option.

well, I mean, it did take a whole feat to use those weapons unless you for some reason actually were a gnome. Pretty sure every Dwarve used their Dwarven War Axe though.

I use the default fist option like a fucking man

A good Gm will throw you a bone after levels of you being stuck in a rut. I almost always roll loot but when someones been sitting on the same shit forever, I throw them a bone.

slightly based

>zweihander animated like a giant club
I hate this meme.

For me, it's the sling

Attached: full-3450-61759-1.jpg (1650x928, 75K)

From these? Heavy mace
In general a gun or some sort of glaive/spear

heavy flail, cause you almost never see it

>Quarterstaff
It's just a fucking stick. Who the fuck would use just a fucking stick?

based.

sling

Attached: 1572728442082.jpg (1280x1280, 1.2M)

Battle Brothers has slings in addition to Baldur's Gate as someone mentioned.

Bastard Sword best choice.

>They don't exclusively use a Gyrspike.

Plebs.

Attached: Untitled.jpg (568x230, 24K)

higher res of this?

They are far more effective in combat than movies and video games would have you believe, having a very real advantage over swords in 1 on 1 combat and hits from them can hurt like hell. It's just as lethal provided you go for vital areas like the chest, neck and head. Not nearly as fragile and easy to cut through as they're always shown as well, if you don't believe me go buy one and whack it over and over with a sword, the sword will probably be more badly damaged first. There's a reason why people didn't cut trees with swords and I'm sick of people always portraying them as having the cutting ability of lightsabers.

Sure the lack of a pointy end hurts its lethality but melee combat has always favored weapons with longer reach. That and it's dirt cheap compared to just about any other weapon.

Attached: 73951412_p0.jpg (837x1009, 860K)

Why not put a point on it and call it a spear? You keep the versatility and reach, but now it can cut and pierce.
I can't get over how it's just a half-finished spear.

Dwarven axe on one hand, Dwarven Urgosh on another.

Far Cry Primal

If you're going into combat there's little reason not to but especially for civilians who expect they may face trouble having something that isn't technically a weapon will draw less attention to you while offering a potent means of defending yourself should the situation arise. Also useful for doing a lot of things sticks are useful for doing.

>no one fucking mentions the fact Neverwinter Nights has a sling when this picture is straight from a D&D handbook.

Fucking PLEBS the lot of you.

bastard sword / greatsword

There are slings in most roguelikes with a fantasy theme.

Shortsword, longsword and a dagger are the only weapons you will need from that list. Everything else is a cultural meme.

Any kind of hunting knife pic relate gets me hard as diamonds though
