I am 35 years old. When ff7 came out it was an amazing epic that we had never seen. Turned based combat was nothing new but the complexity of party management and building perfect "combo" timing, mitigating damage and playing odds was, and is, tense as fuck.
At first glance FF7R is a shitty hack n slash, I hated it. But then I got to the scorpion. It was hard, It was unforgiving, It was button mashing, but it was management. I had to manage my party ( yes I know it was only 1) to use effective attacks or I would lose. It was still dumb button mashing but with a purpose.
If they gave us a real pause and play battle system, I would not be so mad about it.

I'm 36, love the original. Played it like 3 times last year just after May's trailer. Loved the demo so much. Every subsequent playthrough was more fun than the last. I can't wait for the full game's combat. Some guy killed Scorpion in 2.5 minutes on Normal.
