best controller for 3D games
shit dpad but at least got rid of retarded triggers that few games use (if you play racing games go buy yourself a wheel setup)

Dualshock 4. Accept no other.

have that one but in black. love it to death and its the best controller ive ever used.
the only thing they could improve is have the ultimate software do profiles for each mode instead of just xinput and switch. and instead of putting in a battery pack make it run and charge of reachargable regular batteries.
otherwise its the best god damn controller ever.

my dick

I was gonna get one of these but read the dpad is absolute dogshit and has a lot of slop in it?

>read the dpad is absolute dogshit and has a lot of slop in it?
that was the previous verison(sn30pro). it wasnt bad or dogshit it just was prone to being oversensitve with diagonal inputs.
the fixed it in the sn30pro+

The true elder god tier controller, its majestic design doomed to only being produced in a limited capacity by a company from days gone by.
That was the older versions, the ones without grips. That one fixed that issue.

The Gravis Gamepad, of course.

Attached: Gravis_pc_gamepad.jpg (3008x2000, 1.67M)

My dad was disgusted by that thing when he saw it at Blockbuster, visibly disgusted. I had been talking about how much i wanted to play RE4 around the same time. He just looked at the box then at me and said, "hey that thing is not from the game you wanna play, right?".

Ummmmmm, no dad. >_>

Are these actually good?
Currently using a V2 Elite on my PC but I'm after something for old games

Gravis disappeared back in the late 90s when someone else bought them up, and nothing more came of their stuff.

Aussie level mobile post aside, I've got the NES30 and I love it. I use it for all the switch platforming games.

>Right analogue stick above face button so you can't claw
trash

clawing is for garbage people

Just claw the sticks

Is the dpad on that better than the pro?

ok zoomer
no thanks

Perfect

If by pro you mean the switch pro controller, I've never really had any problems with it personally, but it does stick out a bit higher, and "clicks" better. It doesn't actually click, or make any sound. I just like it more. for Mario Maker and the like.

How are retro-bit's saturn controllers? They seem really good for fighting games

This looks awful but as a rap and hip hop fag I need one of these

>playstation stick layout
>based

pick one

I like this guy

Is this really good or just a meme ?

For everyone asking about the 8bitdo SN30 Pro+.

Yes. It's good. It's the best controller I've ever used.

For all games in general ?
I dont want to be memed

They're very close to the real thing. The only differences are the plastic is a bit cheaper feeling, and the triggers are a bit less clickly
Just make sure to switch to xinput mode when you use them (hold start for 5 seconds)

I'd say so.

I mostly use controllers to play 2d platformers though. So use your best judgement.

How durable is it ?

Saturn analog controller WHEN RETROBIT

Groovy

This, xbone + pic related are good, also logitech controller just werks

Attached: Steam-Controller.jfif.jpg (1256x664, 36K)

That looks pretty shit for anything that isn't an arcade game

Why did 4 face buttons become the norm instead of 6?

Sega gave up with the Dreamcast. They had the perfect console for arcade ports and fucked it up. All they needed to do was tweak the Saturn 3D controller, add a second analog stick, and put a hole in for the VMU, and it would be fine. The Saturn 3D controller is surprisingly comfy, unlike the Dreamcast controller.

>Start button on left instead of the right

They should fix that before releasing it.

>here bro, here's your controller

Attached: H9GTtyx1EzcdYzeUhH_rnPtDNeFhZr6eNIcAB6dxsms.jpg (620x465, 45K)

>zoomer detected

because 3 buttons was the norm for the MD/Genesis

SNES had a fuckton of buttons by comparison

but what really changed thing, was the popularity of arcade fighters, particularly Street fighter 2

which was a 6 button game

so when they were released on home consoles, Sega was at a serious disadvantage

so they released their 6 button controller

I hated that controller simply because at no point in RE4 do you ever use a chainsaw.

fucking rad thanks user! my mom gave me 20 bucks for pizza and candy we could prob beat it tonight if your down! ill call her to ask if it's okay if i sleep over.

so i put my dick on the middle pedal and my left and right balls on the left and right pedals respectively.

That's true, but keep in mind that the SNES came out years after the Genesis, which at the time had a much better controller than the alternatives at the time, the SMS, NES, and TG16, so Nintendo had a good head start there.
Sega really should have seen the writing on the wall early on though instead of all the way until 93. They positioned the Genesis as an arcade at home console, so they should have made their peripherals up to date with the changing arcade landscape as early as they could.

>They positioned the Genesis as an arcade at home console

exactly why the had 3 buttons

SF2 didn't come out till '91

fighting game boom didn't happen, so up until then most games were a 2 button affair, 3 tops.

Attached: 4dgd3j75j75z.jpg (500x444, 43K)

I like mine, it was worth the $40

>Use it for a year
>Analog already wobbled

I honestly don't use it often so I haven't had any problems. That being said, I don't normally have hardware issues because I treat my belongings with care

doesn't get much better than this lads

Attached: 20200304_010247.jpg (4032x3024, 3.48M)

I remember first trying to play MMX on PC on that. What a blast from the past. What an absolute piece of shit controller, though.

>SF2 didn't come out till '91
And the 6 button controller came out in '93. Sega knew they wanted SF2 on the Genesis as soon as the SNES version was announced in '92. They could have sold later model 1 consoles and all model 2 consoles with the 6 button controller instead of having it be a separate purchase, but for some reason they didn't (except in Japan).

>make the left d-pad a touch pad
>make the right stick a touch pad
Multiple people agreed that this was a good idea

I agree with this. I've got two of these and I use them on my PC from time to time with bluetooth

This is my favorite controller right now. The only thing I dislike is how it feels to press in the sticks.

You do realize you can take out the battery pack and use regular batteries, right?

>>make the right stick a touch pad
This is an objective, and important, improvement. The right stick is one of the major remaining flaws with current standard controllers.

This and nothing else

Attached: 1583295414598.jpg (592x841, 60K)

Duh. I mean instead of using a battery pack. just make it be able to recharge rechargable batteries and ship it with those.
i hate proprietary batteries.

so is this going to be released any time soon or what?

Attached: pokken1.jpg (1024x1024, 108K)

PS1 controller isn't as good as I remember (same for the other dualshocks). The dpad shreds the skin on your thumb until you build up callouses, and the rubber always feels sticky rather than grippy. The grips are a bit small too so you're forced to hold it loosely with your ring/pink fingers which causes cramp after a while. They're designed for smaller hands which was great for kids but not for adults.

How is the d-pad on this thing? Some people say it's too loose. I really need a controller for 2D titles like Hollow Knight. I'm still shocked how people still fuck up the d-pad in the current year.

Based on what, retard? Try to communicate like a human being.

seeit costs £15, has the best dpad of any current gen controller and works great on PC too. Perfect for SNES emulation, platformers, fighting games and shmups. I use it on PC to play tekken.

dpad is one of the best around. The previous model that was shaped like a wii pro controller, and had non analog triggers had issues with diagonal inputs and was oversensitive. they fixed it with the sn30pro+

You can thank me

too bad it has no triggers

Attached: PS2_Dualshock_Controller.jpg (300x300, 12K)

most games that rely on the dpad don't need four shoulder buttons. It's nice to have two big responsive L/R buttons though, like I say perfect for fighting games and SNES emulation.

>Hollow knight

Hoooooooo boy do I have a controller for you.

I remember buying an
-arcade stick
-retrobit Sega Genesis/Saturn gamepad
And this all to see which one would be best for 2d platformers

I ended up with the buffalo snes controller. The D pad is simply amazing. Very nice and tactile. I binded dash to L and charge to R.

Attached: Buffalo-USB-Snes-Controller-2.jpg (720x480, 63K)

The bumpers and triggers on that thing have so much travel they might as well be analog. The joysticks are unironically better.

Semi-weird question, but what's the best controller for Souls games? I've played the series with both the 360 and Dualshock 3 controllers; the Dualshock's RT stopped working after awhile and I was annoyed at the 360 one constantly eating batteries

is there a modern controller that addresses all of that stuff and more?

Shite i bought the wrong one that's why my D-pad sucks. Fuck.

I don't know about specific options on switch, but for souls games you ideally want something with remappable back buttons/triggers. They let you play without a claw grip.

most based dpad coming thru

Attached: hori fg.jpg (1500x1500, 107K)

Came here to post this.
The only problem is it utilises a non-standard Bluetooth implementation so you need an adapter to use it with a PC. Other than that it's perfect, especially if you play a lot of 2D titles because the Dpad is parallel with the face buttons so it's just like you're holding a SNES controller.
See also: insane battery life.

Imagine using this controller on Doom Eternal

Attached: 1581466218690.jpg (1080x1314, 164K)

Wow! Sounds cringe! Sorry bud I’m hanging out with Jenny from school. Sorry you can’t come...

for 2D games this is my perfect controller.
Literally the only complaint I have is about the triggers/bumpers.
Shoulder buttons need to be raised and shortened, I always accidentally hit them because of how they wrap around the side of the controller.
The triggers are just weird I dont really understand what they were going for but they are uncomfortable, thankfully most 2D games just use the face buttons
The SN30 pro plus has alright triggers, they just need more resistance or give them little travel like the switch pros triggers

the ultimate controller should be good for Smash as well, therefore the Pro Controller is better.

Based

>Basically triple d-pad
What is this heresy

I have huge hands but they are slender with skinny fingers. What is the best controller for a skeleton?

Attached: 1518668555252.jpg (640x640, 261K)

God tier controller right here. Never had a controller feel this good in the hands and it completely shits on the DS4 with its analogs, dpad, and buttons. For asymmetrical controllers my choice would be the Xbox 360 and Hori FPS Plus. Gamecube controller for Smash only.
The d-pad is the best part

it's basically the best controller ever made and Yea Forums is sleeping on it

Attached: 1523344585468.jpg (1116x841, 84K)

>handlet only controller

>basically the best controller ever made
How? It's a triple fucking d-pad.
