Nah, a lot of what he said are nit picks. I'm not gonna bullshit and say I've played every Castlevania, but I've played many of them and I really enjoy the show for the most part. They've taken some liberties, some paid off, others haven't, but for the most part it's got quality writing, and the choreography and animation and both surprisingly amazing. Some of the best fight scenes and highest quality animation I've seen

Specific nags like quipping and modernized self-aware metahumor aside, the whole series seems like it can’t decide whether it’s fantasy or not.
It’s got magic and vampires and demons, but it got super fucking wishy-washy around the idea of having its own metaphysics. This is an adaptation spinning off from a series where all mythological bestiaries were accurate, souls definitively exist, Belmonts regularly bash monsters with crosses that make them explode in a pillar of light, and at least one protagonist makes a journey into literal hell. Watching Alucard toss atheist jabs and go on spiels about his dad being a wise science man while holy power is just misunderstood magic rituals(?) and vampires are just a put-upon, life-challenged minority feels like the writers had to compromise between the fantasy-Christian foundations of the namesake and the militant fedoras on the team by showcasing a selection of trappings from the Castlevania franchise while replacing their context with an incompatible secular tone and/or universe.
tl;dr it’s the perfect show for Yea Forums and Tumblr, but it’s a mess from the perspective of an autistic Yea Forums-/tg/ weeb like myself.
