Zero. Had a launch one, kept it in great shape and I eventually gave it to my brother when I got a Lite (that is still kicking). I remember being paranoid about my Lite for a while though since people kept complaining about fucked up hinges.

none, the most there's been has been a cracked 3DS hinge after 5 years of continuous use, but the console works fine.

It was during a Texas Summer and I put it under the passenger seat to prevent it from happening, but after I returned to my car in 4 hours the screens were melted.

I really couldn't care less atm, it happened when i was like 12. If o ever feel like it, I'll replace it along with the other one's touch screen, but i don't think that'll happen.
In this case i only broke one, the other one made games like pokemon ranger unplayable, but the stuff that didn't require touch screen worked fine.

I broke one lite, the replacement lite I bought still works but the hinge is loose

Huh, I thought there was more, but around 3 DS's were broken that I can recall. I think my brother also had another DS that he broke, and the final DS I have is a red DS lite that has broken L and R triggers and I haven't touched it for ages.

Weird thing is my 3DS broke basically through wear and tear, R trigger stopped responding randomly, top screen was scratched to shit due to bottom screen, circle pad lost its rubber and then finally the top screen just gave out and shows a black screen probably due to a loose connection. Never once mistreated it, but damn what a shame.

New 3DS has been working perfectly since I bought it back in 2015 so I'm still fine.

One regular DS that I dropped down some stairs and broke the top screen.

The second was my original black 3DS. Those aren't made for you to snap it back all the way all the time so after 4 years the top screen snapped off on one side. Still worked just fine but I still count it as broke since it was annoying and floppy.

Just one, my OG DS top screen just broke out of nowhere while playing as always years ago. Everything still worked like it should, the screens just weren't connected by plastic anymore. Just wires. The DS lite, DSi and 3DS after that one all survived so far.

I don't understand, it was UNDER a tv stand and you were surprised the tv fell on it and broke it at some point?

one and a halfish. had one where the hinges basically snapped right off and the top screen dangled and then i had a 3ds where i let it get scuffed to hell on top of nearly broken hinges and the 3d stopped working. can't remember if the screen ever stopped working on the 3ds but i think it might've it's been some time

None but I had one of the faulty DS Lites that shut off sometimes when you pressed the face buttons.
