I've been working on a framework for about 2 months that allows for modular live2D characters (different hair, clothing, etc that can be changed at runtime and still animate). Clothing/hair/cum layers/tattoos/body writing can all be loaded in and displayed dynamically (and runtime loading w/ mods too).

Modular live2d isn't really a thing in any games. I basically built a hack on top of the Unity sdk that exploits how it deals with convex meshes.

It also allows for c# mod support with code auditing (for security).

The thing is I'm worried about including a lot of things because steam might kick me off if I ever do release. Yellow/red/bestiality/preg would probably be too far (but could be supported by mods. I could make the mods myself and release them anonymously).
I know, for example, that steam kills games that are lewd and involve anything involving schools, so there is a limit.

I've been looking up some artists and it seems like for $100-$125 you can get pretty detailed scenes. I'm looking for something unusual though where I want the artist to think modularly. Some artists already do this with cum layers, on/off clothing, before/after, normal face/ahegao face, etc.

I think paying the usual price they charge for full pieces but only asking for the linework but with some specific parts (like eyes open, eyes closed, mouth open, mouth closed, bra and naked variant) might be an okay way to go about it.

artists familiar with game development or have worked on a game project won't find that weird.
good artists will be able to provide you with detailed art for scenes, and art to be used as other kinds of game assets, like dialogue portraits and item icons.
of course you can also hire multiple artists and divide the work among them based on what specialization you hired them for.
but if you're doing things online, it'll be tricky to collaborate with multiple team members and get things done in a timely manner versus if all your artists and you were working in a small studio, so all of you can quickly be on the same page and make changes very fast, plus this way, you can pay artists for their time instead of per piece of work, which is advantageous in a game development project due to how much game designs can change throughout development
but as the designer, you need to have a good game design document where you list down what game assets you need so artists don't have to wait for you to personally tell them what to do

The thing about all japanese games, not just porn ones, is that there are way too many numbers.
When game mechanics are made more accessible in a board game-esque way individual actions feel more meaningful. In board games the cut off between going from 3 health to 2 health is easy to understand.
In a japanese game having 1950 health with 95 armor at level 99 getting hit by a level 150 enemy for some kind of damage isn't very understandable. More games need to be made like board games. Players should be able to intuitively understand cause and effect.

sometimes adjusting damage from 2 to 3 or reducing it from 5 to 4 is too much when what you really need is a 2.5 and 4.5 respectively but you can't resort to decimal points so it's better to use 200 and 500 right from the start
