I'm in.

>Off brand Wipeout

There's absolutely nothing wrong with this.

It's the definitive version of WipeOut

and that's ok

>*better off brand wipeout

I like this game. There is a lot to do, the official maps are good and there are so many custom ones, and different physics mode and speed classes makes it so I haven't got bored of multiplayer yet after finishing all the campaigns. Haven't played it that much lately but I'm warmly waiting for the outer space tracks expansion to come out soon-ish

Yea Forums netplay thread when?

You can slap Wipeout music, announcer bits, and even tracks and ships into this thing and it becomes straight up Wipeout.

I suck at this game despite playing it for years (I've been playing since before it was on steam - obligatory RIP slipstream GX). What annoys me is I KNOW some fucker out there had made wipeout 2097/XL tracks (proper rips) for the game but no download has ever come up.

good game but i'm too shite at it

This is fro ma fucking ancient build of the game (2016!).

I will be playing halo today but maybe later. we have them every few weeks that i've randomly noticed, there are probably more. they made a steam group last time too, look at an archive to get it. you can just start up a lobby, run around and wait for people to show up.

>try out Linux
>install BNG
>save game missing

>boot windows back up

Well, at least I still have the achievements.

Photo mode is cool.

join the official discord and you can download archives of the track packs. idk why they don't link them in steam discussions or something.

for me...

No racing game has ever come close to surpassing Wipeout.

youtube.com/watch?v=dWIhi3FtO9I

I haven't played since it was still in early access. Has anything big changed aside from new tracks? I heard netplay finally got added.

>I heard netplay finally got added.

Yes, we got a full lobby a couple of days ago when Yea Forums was playing it. I got my ass handed to me, seems like only pros play this game.

Because theyre discord fags

>seems like only pros play this game.
Pretty much - its a relatively unknown title that styles itself after a series known for having extremely dedicated players.

Attached: BallisticNG 0.6.webm (720x405, 2.86M)

pretty much, there's a social element to it that i really don't have patience for. maybe i will just post links of a few of them. but they are updated sometimes, keep it in mind

Nobody playing was that good, or at least that good at the custom maps we were playing. Everyone would crash sometimes. there were a few times one guy clearly new the track and the others were all new to it. if you want to get sweaty you can run the stock maps that you end up practicing a lot in the campaign, and that people compete on in the leaderboards. but that's also what new players do online because it's what everyone will have. Makes for quite a catch-22 when new players join a steam lobby and quit halfway through a race. They would have actually had more fun playing a custom map.

Not saying you got salty or anything, I hope you had a good time regardless.

On a tangent, one thing I've noticed about racing games is when you get to a certain level in single player, the AI is way behind you, because the average player expects to get 1st. Beating the game is far from mastering it, so it becomes kinda boring if you're decent. Not even the most famous pros IRL always get first. I think the design of these games could be more interesting for players of more skill levels if people across the board would be happy with consistently coming in 5th or 10th. Play a long series and get a good score at the end. Coming up 10th of 100 racers or something is still good. As you mastered the game you could come in 60th, then 40th, until you finally get to 1st and are really ready to compete online. Although in bng the campaign events are reasonably hard.

Steam group is here btw if anyone wants updates
None of us are pros by any means we just enjoy getting gud and challenging eachother

Attached: 1582243898779.gif (250x203, 136K)

I love that the team is named Neognosis. Feel all the more like a good homage. I just wish that there was more online presence or you could use bots in online races.

> Although in bng the campaign events are reasonably hard.
Fuck the platinum time trial times.

>seems like only pros play this game
It's a game for wipeout boomers and future racer/time trial autists.
Don't know what you're expecting.

I really need practice at the precision runs to unlock the craft you get for it. Then I need to git gud some more and beat neon nights to get the skin in preparation for the upcoming 2nd expansion.

They're the most fun though
>play your absolute heart out
>get the best lines
>5 perfect laps
>still a second behind the Platinum time
>keep going
>watch yourself slowly improve
>correct small mistakes for more speed
>crush your "I'm never gonna beat this record time" time
>lap 3
>you realize this is the one
>heart starts beating
>hands sweaty
>tunnel vision
>enter the zone
>remain cool as you enter the last lap
>all eyes are on you
>you're crushing it
>final turn
>BOOOOOOST
>"platinum medal awarded"
Name one better feeling than getting gud?

Attached: Drifter.jpg (878x626, 34K)

The one thing I've noticed about Ballistic and WipEout as well, is that other racing games throw me off so damn much. They feel so slow.

Once you go fast, you can never go back.

>I think the design of these games could be more interesting for players of more skill levels if people across the board would be happy with consistently coming in 5th or 10th
That's what I love about F-Zero GX You can get like 2 2nds a 3rd and two 10th and 12ths or something and still take a cup most of the time.

Why is the game so choppy without freesync?
With freesync at 144fps it's fine but I'd rather play with ulmb at 144 and it just doesn't look fluid at all.

Regular host here
I'm away from home right now but if this thread is still up in a couple hours I'll definitely get some games going
Hopefully one of you guys finally gets around to learning how to port forward so that I'm not the only guy who hosts but we'll see
I'm gonna try and finish this guide this week too

Other racing games need more pitch black tunnels with sequential hairpins and blind turns.

Or just add the horror track that is Silverstream.

I still have PTSD from getting gold times in wipeout HD.

>pilot assist ON

You and I both know old school wipeout can go much more savage than slipstream.

>Yea Forums
>pros
come on virgin I was on those servers theres maybe 1 or 2 good players and the rest just drive like you would anyone expect to.

someone link the pastebin pls

Its probably either dodgy framepacing from vsync or you also have vsync disabled and no framerate cap so it could be running about your monitors refresh rate but not consistently.

Do love me the tracks from the first two games. I remember as a kid, finding out Piranha could be unlocked legit but you had to unlock and beat Phantom. Those tracks got fucking intense ya know?

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK THIS TRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACK though!

Attached: ballisticNG_metro.webm (711x400, 2.97M)

looking up wipeout 1, it's like a goddamn rally game with anti-gravity compared to the sequels

[PERFECT LAP]
[PERFECT LAP]
[PERFECT LAP]
[PLATINUM MEDAL AWARDED]
I love this guy's voice.

Yeah I tried everything, vsync On/Off, built-in FPS cap (awful) and RTSS lock, nothing seems to work. Even unlocking everything and playing at 500fps doesn't fix it.

Why didn't anti-grav racers take off as a genre? Is it because they're too hard?

Attached: animegirlboomer1.png (1000x1221, 1.4M)

GUYS HELP. How the fuck do I combine pitching and turns? If I move my analog up or down well I cannot turn properly.

>When I finally beat Zico
I've never felt more proud of myself

how is this webm under 3 MB? looks good

Nintendo killed it. People don't want anti grav racers they just want muh F-0/10

You use the analog stick?

>that styles itself after a series known for having extremely dedicated players.
>that styles itself
It began as a literal OTTD-like project for the early wipeout games, only after a couple years had passed they decided to make it its own thing.

but if I tilt how can I turn? I dont feel like I am turning with full strength

I'm not sure if I want to share my biggest secret.

>use webm for retards
>set resolution to -1 x 400
>press both of the check boxes that presumably >increase quality
>set bitrate to 24,000 / length of the webm
>try to cut off at the exact nanosecond before crossing the finish line so my steam user name doesn't get published on Yea Forums :^)

Attached: ballisticNG_cockpit5.webm (889x500, 2.84M)

See pic. Fun fact: Zico set a faster time that the one in the game..

Early BNG wasn't as much as a clone as it it is today - it just didn't play right and the track design was both shocking and more inline with HD than 1-3. Even today I feel BNG sits - physics wise - inbetween 2 and 3 (not as floaty and drifty as 2, but not as rigid as 3).

Attached: 26L8bb463.png (240x240, 52K)

>try to cut off at the exact nanosecond before crossing the finish line so my steam user name doesn't get published on Yea Forums :^)
Weren't you in the server the other day?
Everyone know you're just "Player" you filthy pirate, it's fine.

Nice try, NSA.

Attached: ballisticNG_the_walls_are_lava2.webm (640x360, 2.8M)

I hadn't touched the game in months and I came third in a couple of races, we're certainly not pros.

Attached: BallisticNG - Luna Survival in VR (no comfort settings).webm (852x480, 2.89M)

Alternatively use xmedia recode as its 1) not years out of date like webm for retards and 2) offers plenty of options without being your typical cli hell.

I really wish I could be bothered to record at 120fps but given 90% of anons can't even see it it doesn't seem worth the effort to find software that does record at 120fps.

Attached: BallisticNG 0.9 Cassandra.webm (720x405, 2.48M)

>it doesn't seem worth the effort to find software that does record at 120fps
literally just use OBS

pastebin.com/dXQ5j3kb

But i'm retarded and ReLive works so well.

What tracks does this actually include?

You're using airbrakes too right? It just sort of works when I put my thumb on both on 2 directional buttons on the d-pad. I've never used an analog stick for it.

Wouldn't 120 fps just completely eat the bitrate anyway?

The guy is called hellfirewz, he has a youtube channel explaining how to get good at wipeout HD

Wait Hellfire does voices for BNG? I didn't even notice, neat.

I'm hosting right now. I'm new to this, pls no bully!

Ahhhhh it IS Hellfire, I knew I'd heard the announcer's voice somewhere. Figures he'd go do something for the re-creation of WipEout.

Sweet, I'll try to connect in a few minutes.

i play it on a 85hz monitor and it's fine, just make sure to play in exclusive fullscreen and not borderless

>ended up paying for the soundtrack just because I got the game for free way back then
I feel like such a moralfag but man it's so good

Attached: 1518358078774.jpg (1920x959, 474K)

60hz here, doesn't feel choppy also in exclusive fs

neat

Look at joy.cpl and see if your analog stick can move the cursor to the corner of the box, or if it moves it in a circle pattern, unable to reach the corner.

Analog sticks with circular gates naturally can't go full x and y, but some controllers do have that kind of mapping. i know my ds4 doesn't. so on a ds4 you actually can't pitch and turn fully at the same time. you will need to remap the controls. i put pitch on l1/r1. otherwise just use the d-pad and keyboard.

based
i will be there soon

Is Redout any good as an F-Zero style game?

Is it freesync?
I tried all mode, no luck.

It's not like F zero at all

>Always at night
Dammit, sorry anons not this time
I hate my timezone

no it's some old thing from 2008

damn people lied to me

This is actually a good thing because Wipeout is dead and ruined.
