I like characters who just are what they are. Doesn't matter if it's a man, woman, lard or brudda. If the character was created because someone on the dev team said "Hey, this guy will be cool!" and not "Let's diversify the cast with this guy!" then it's gonna be good 9/10 times.

Bob is cool, Rufus is not. E. Honda and Raiden are cool, Earthquake is not. They can be cool when you take the concept as seriously as any other fighter, but when its just "Lol he's fat and gross" the character sucks. Why would I want to play as a fat gross weirdo, it's not appealing in real life and it's not appealing in fiction outside of being a joke. And jokes stop being funny when you've heard them a thousand times.

Nah. Rufus is great. His response and his animations were great and the voice direction in both cases really carried him to excellence. You can have great characters designed around being a dope. Rufus wasn't even food-centric outside of his artwork.

They've always been my favorite, guess the butcher from diablo 1 left a good impression on me, which eventually became abomination in warcraft 3 and pudge in dota.
I like the whole fat/disgusting aesthetic. Bob is kinda... well.. meh, hes just a regular guy that decided to min-max irl, boring, Tekken lacks an actual fat fuck. Like these guys, these are fantastic.

They tend to be based because they don't rely on their appearance to be likable.
More writers should do something like the "programmer graphics" that game devs use, making the characters a cube so they can focus on writing the character good.

I don't mind food gimmicks. Fat Birdie was still a fun concept, and even with his classic costume it still works for him. But his win animation takes the joke too far with him pulling a giant fucking donut out of his ass.
