Pokemon was aired on weekday mornings in my country, for most of my memory.

I don't mean the shows, i mean the absolute phenom of the entire Pokemon fad up until about 2001. They can try to piece together what that must have been like but they will never actually know. It's like playing a video game that once had an incredible online multiplayer and your only experience is playing the single player and thinking you basically understand what it was actually like.

The pokemon trading cards were banned at my primary school when I was in year six, from memory, which would be around 1999 or 2000. Some kid brought their gameboy to school, which got stolen, and the teachers didn't really know the difference between the gameboy games and the playing cards so they gave us a note to take home to our parents, explaining that all things Pokemon were no longer permitted to bring to school, lol.

The closest we ever got to recapturing that was when Pokemon GO first came out, and fucking everyone was playing it. I remember I was on vacation at the time, and nearly half of the people I came across, regardless of age, race, or gender, were playing it. It was incredible to witness.
