I dislike the armor system and all the enviromental effects.
pretty sure people did. it was mine, and a lot of others it seems, goty 2017
??
We did though? This game is almost universally praised on Yea Forums with the exception of the occasional shitposters that think subpar armor system makes the entire game garbage.
Yeah I'm one of those. I also didn't mind the armour system much, otherwise you could stack either magic or melee. It helped variety but I guess it's also not perfect.
I haven't played since release, how's definitive edition?
it has a pretty fucking stupid ending actually
I'm probably retarded but this game overwhelms me. I don't know what to pick and what's a good party dynamic. Currently have Ifan (my character) as fighter, Fane as enchanter, Prince as wizard and the fourth character I'm thinking of picking ranger. Does that make any sense?
If you're finding trouble, have at least one of your guys as a summoner. They are babby mode.
Skill choices are open-ended, there's no real "winning combination", just make sure that each character sticks to one type of damage (magic or physical), otherwise it's no good.
I just went with lone wolf and duo'd it with one focusing melee and the other focusing magic stuff. It reduced the amount of thinking and effort I need to do.

>Why the fuck didn't you tell me this game was so fucking good, Yea Forums?
You must be new. We used to have D:OS2 threads for moths after it released. People were posting their cheeky builds and memeing the fun encounters.
>"why the fuck didn't you tell me X was good?"
I hate these fucking cringe threads
kill yourself
Just get a bunch of CC skills and a few high damage skills and you'll sweep everything. Also use teleport to drop enemies where you want them, out of range, in range, into hazards, etc
Not really feeling enchanter desu, rain's AOE is so large and I end up electrocuting my own characters half the time lmao. Is there a way to respec and change character classes? I only have a few hours in so I'm roaming fort joy atm.
The best way is to have either all characters deal the same type of damage(physical/magical) or have two of each.
If you know you're about to start a fight, make sure you split your party and put them all where you want them to be before triggering combat
If this is your first CRPG and then it’s tolerable but the writing is almost entirely mediocre. If you played any of the older games, even dragon age origins, you wouldn’t be able to stand the writing for more than a few hours. Had to struggle to finish the game. Fun with a friend and if not, just don’t bother
You can respec once you finish Act 1. But until then be careful with your builds, by the way Hydro+Aero is still really good even if you don't use rain + shocking effects that much. Use rain to counteract fire effects instead.
i think it's more fun to have 2 physical and 2 magic damage dealers.
the optimal tryhard way is to go all one type of damage, but i think on your first playthrough you want to have a nice variety so you can see more things
>Liking things
Reddit
There aren't really "classes" iirc, as long as you aren't letting the characters level themselves up. You can just adjust a character's focus as they level and buy them new spells.
The perfect vidyo game in my eyes would be D:OS2 without that shitty armor system which is why I am looking forward to BG3. I understand the problem BG1 and 2 boomers have with it but I frankly don't care
>at launch
>play summoner
>make two of my guys summoners because it sounds fun
>game becomes a literal joke
>stop playing
larian is fucking terrible at balance.
Oh no no no no NO, you can't lik thing I don't like, QUICK BROS POST THE SEX SCENE NARRATION, QUICKLY, BEFORE HE LIKES SOMETHING ELSE WE DON'T LIKE!
Also, use barrels retard. Combat is shit easy gimmick fest once you use barrels and mobility spells
>just make sure that each character sticks to one type of damage
Very early on maybe but later having shield toss on all your mages is great(any low point CC warrior skill is also great). Also getting a few low action point magic skills on your fighters/rogues is also great for further extending your elemental combo potential or abusing other combos and capitalizing on enemies who have their magic armor down.
t.actical chad
>blocks your path
the armour system was retarded but I never got why people have such a raging hate boner against it, do you just suck at the damn game? FFS I payed with a varied party on tactician and the game wasn't even that hard then.
Gameplay was nice. Wasn't really feeling the NPC's though. I prety much always go full moralfag in games, but here i just murdered everything i could.
Normally you want an all eggs in one basket style because of how physical armor and magic armor works, since you'll be killing 3 healthbars instead of 2 otherwise. I use a blood knight fane, necromancer fighter, along with an archer/assassin and a support mage. This normally is good enough to deal with most threats. We have items for magic damage if they enemy is particularly weak to it, and if they aren't we can dog pile physical damage on to them.
yeah, i don't see the problem really with the armor system, but then again i pretty quickly realized how the system worked and stacked one type of damage
i have considered picking definitive up too since i played on release, it means we missed out on act 4 as i understand it
I recall there being an act 4 but it definitely was pretty underwhelming. I think they reworked a lot of it but not sure on the details
I want to love OS so bad but the shitty writing gets me away every single time I try.
You can probably do this in most crpgs tho. Pathfinder kingmaker lets you become a godlike summoner as a priest, you can end up summoning about 20 creatures or so per day, creating a veritable army to rip any boss apart without even getting near it.
I love D:OS2 and all the fun fights and encounters! I'll never understand the haters.
I have not played the definitive edition. What changes should I expect except the cat ?
The armor system is garbage and makes hybrid characters useless af.
The game is balanced like shut with pure damage wayfarer being the only class you ever need to win no matter what difficulty you play.
Thanks god we have mods to fix the mess it is.
Really, how bad is it, going through it I never saw anything that caught my eye as "oh noo, too cheesy!"
This fight was great. I played it once on normal, once on tactician, and once in multiplayer. The usual complaint is that the NPC does everything to kill himself, but that didn't happen in my case.
Hybrid characters are useful if you have at least one non-hybrid in your party. You need a mix.
The *really* optimal party comp is to have everyone have same dmg type. You will burn through everyones armor in no time, and yes, occasionally you will run into these mobs that have 5x more of one armor type than the other, but it doesnt matter since you can chew through it anyway, and all of the bosses in the game have fuckton of armor of both types.
But its boring.
So second best is 2x phys and 2x magical.
Use a summoner or two if you want to play the easymode version of the game
my first playthrough had 2 lone wolf hybrid characters and the game was fine, I repeat, you just suck at the game.
"Hybrid character are useful if someone else do all the work for them so they don't have to do anything"
nigga what?
How did everyone experience this fight? I thought it was awesome but there were so many moments where I thought I wouldn't make it but I did anyway
Not what I said? A hybrid should be able to do a variety of damage, basically providing versatile support. There's bleedthrough in the game which makes them more useful.
Sure thing playing in Story mode OR in OG D2 before Definitive Edition when Lone Wolf was the most broken shit ever.
>Why the fuck didn't you tell me this game was so fucking good, Yea Forums? It's fun as fuck and brimming with SOUL.
because its not good at all.
the only people who like Divinity are teenage kids who never played actually good RPG's.
Larian couldnt write a decent sentence of dialogue if their lives depended on it.
I installed DoS 3 times, tried really hard to get into it, but the abysmal dialogues, the lack of any art at all just killed it for me.
Every time combat started in DoS i became sad and said to myself "oh god, not this boring low IQ shit again."
Larian has managed to dumb combat down to such an extent that you can smash a shoe on the keyboard and win, and fall asleep from boredom while doing it.
Larian games are the epitome of soulless, its the McDonalds of RPG's.
Because it reduces a multitide of options into "do enough damage to peel off their armour, then..."
The most stupid but working combo I've ever done in this game is using shekels of pain on someone and then drinking healing potion as an undead, it baffles me how it works.
Also this fight is great, git gud faggot
I experienced it with horrible stuttering and average of 9 fps
>it reduces a multitide of options
It changes the multitude of options. It doesn't reduce them. Every battle I saw several possible approaches and I played with 4 hybrids. You're not utilizing the combat system well enough.
kek, I also remember it dropping my framerate.
So you almost played it 3 times but you still whine about it. GTFO.
Hardest part is somehow saving that friendly NPC motherfucker. How did you guys pull it off?
I think I just fucking teleported him all over the place.
Just wall yourself off with a paintings or some shit
>It changes the multitude of options.
Into one, yes, that's the problem.
They have co-op, which places them higher than a lot of other RPGs.
I agree with story/dialogue/characters.
The combat has potential, but the balance is awful.
NGL I was hyped for the game that confused on combat only since that had the most potential to be good, but I guess it's been iced to work on BG3.
Won't he go aggro from the damage though?
t. didn't make it out of fort joy lmao
Focus.
Confused? What the fuck.
>RPG's
By spamming the OP bubble ability.
Wrong. Positioning and turn order drastically change the outcome of battles and are key to dealing with the armor system.
Combat is fun, but everything else is garbage. What do you like about it OP? I'd love to change my opinion.
You wont change your opinion because you're right.
>story mode
try tactician numbnuts, the game isn't really hard, neither is their combat system, almost any other crpg has a more complex combat system, OS games are easy to learn and easy to master.
I froze him constantly
>Oh, and teleporting him back into the bubble if the motherfucker runs off and tries to get himself killed. Bubble + setting the top platform on holy fire makes you pretty much immortal.
And your abilities are [Damage]. Until you've peeled off their armor. A multitude of options, reduced to one.
I'm bit of a disappointed with random enemy buffs from the gift bag, I think mods does this job better but it's always something and it's funny hearing how guy who plays range in my party seething about reflect from Phase B buff
But I don't want to be
The multitude of options comes from the level design and enemy positions while armor is active. Then it comes from your abilities.
>BG3 human wizard companion
Gale is Ifan right?
>Then it comes from your abilities
Yes. As I've said from the start. >Because it reduces a multitide of options into "do enough damage to peel off their armour, then..."
Glad you finally understand.
>everything else is garbage.
So, the entirety of level design, puzzle designs, art style, art quality, music and literally every written dialogue is unredeemable steaming shit.
Gotcha bro.
He probably just reads guides for everything he plays so he wouldn't know if anything outside combat is good or not.
Level design is good, but I disagree with the rest. Sorry, but I think it's dogshit. Quest design is also dogshit.
Can't wait for D:OS3.
The writing is not good enough to invest time in this long RPG. Once they hire some decent writers I'll check it out.
cRPGs are all kinda terrible, don't you think?
What a weirdly specific projection.
recomend me a braindead but also meta build
He has his mother face
>art style, art quality, music and literally every written dialogue is unredeemable steaming shit.
This is correct. Haven't gotten far enough to judge the rest because the fiction is so boring and uninspired. It feels so American even though it isn't made by shitskins. It's like a Bioware or Obsidian game. Everyone is sarcastic and sassy, just hilariously bad writing in general.
I'm glad some people like the game, but it's utter trash compared to what CDPR is doing and I don't even consider Witcher series to be RPGs.
Hm, maybe it was nether swap.
>reading guides, in the internet age no less
>weirdly specific
How young are you?
Ifan is a ranger
27. I don't read guides, or talk to people who read guides, so whatever you do in your own time shouldn't really be projected as something that everyone else does.
Based
the game is super fucking easy dude...
>still being this ignorant at 27
There's little to no hope for you.
Sounds like you haven’t left the first island. You’ll see why this game sucks soon enough.
I’ll give you a hint: enemy balancing is horrendous and spawning enemies in turn based exploration combat blows
*wayfarer
I'm ignorant because I like to experience games? If it helps, I feel absolutely no shame in not wrapping myself in video-game culture reading guides, watching lets plays, etc. It's something I do in my free-time. I don't feel bad for you because I don't really know who you are or care for you. Feel free to continue projecting though, but it feels like you just wanna argue with yourself.
Same. Tried it 3 times. The storytelling is so freaking bad I simply can't get into it.
I never played Baldur's Gate but I hear it had great characters. Why the fuck would Larian think they can do it justice?
>I'm ignorant because I like to experience games?
No, because you think it's somehow a rare enough thing these days for accusing someone of looking up guides for everything to be a "weirdly specific projection."
>D:OS is the most fun you can have playing RPGs with friends, MMO included
Why didn't more developers add drop in drop out coop as a feature? Heck I would have bought PoE and Pathfinder if it was a thing
Oh I'm ignorant of your gaming culture? Oh that's alright then. Continue your thread.
More like wizards of the coast got Larian to turn their DOS2 sequel into BG3 and Swen couldnt say no.
Why Larian you ask? Because they're the most successful WRPG dev in recent memory outside of CDPR, but unlike CDPR they're cheap enough to hire.
Pathfinder co-op might suck due to the kingdom management thing though.
we did repeatedly say it was the best game in years.
Not mine, everyone else's. Why would I accuse you of being a shit-eating guide-reader if I also did that?
im super fucking stupid dude
Well now you're just being defensive, user..
You would be repeatedly wrong and a zoomer
>make a party RPG
>NPCs only talk to a single character
This killed it for me. I don't want to repeat every NPC interaction 4 times just so I don't miss character specific interactions.
But I want more enemies. In fact one thing i hate about this game is that eventually you run out of enemies.
CDRP's RPGs are even less like BG and DnD than Larian's
>Gale is Ifan right?
Nope. Not even close.
Zoomers can't deal with turn-based, get your denial right.
Tough luck autismo
Lol, this was actually a massive cheese tactic if you're against a bullshit boss
>have one of your guys talk to the boss
>immediately spread out your party to position them into a killzone
NPCs talking only to 1 character also allowed you to repeat failed stat checks.
oh would you get a fucking room already
I thought it was good too. I really don't know what Yea Forums is so butthurt about.
I'm playing through it again on the Switch and it blows my mind that it actually runs.
Yeah, the framerate dips very noticeably when there's a lot of shit going on, but it's a slow turn-based game so I don't care.
lone wolf [so party of 2 or less+ the lone wolf talent]
and put all points into summoning [stats are con and wits]
use your incarnate, and make totems every turn on element surfaces
When ur summoning stat hits 10 [so level 5, since lone wolf is broken as fuck and doubles all stats], ur incarnate becomes super strong.
Summoning is uber early on because you spam totems, but it falls off later.
so once you get out of fort joy, use the mirror in the lady vengeance to switch all points to int/a bit of wits, and put points in aero, pyro and geo with savage sortilege [makes spells crit]. Rape enemies in 1-2 hits with high damage source spells that crit. Do not bother with con, just make sure u have loads of money from quests/loot and buy the best armour you can. Armour will be how you stay alive.
Final note: do quests/content of your level, levelling up/buffing your gear by even 1 level is a big upgrade numbers-wise
Was this ever fixed? Sounds like it would be pretty easy to patch or mod.
Just pause the game for all (nearby) characters and combine all the dialogue options.
This game was the most fun I've had playing something with other people in years. It's kind of like a really fun board game, and I got extremely good at combat as an undead mage that teleports party members around and plays dead to avoid direct conflict.
I've seen that you can change the appearance of origin characters if you choose one at character creation, but is it possible to change the appearance of the other characters who are your party members?
boomies hate it because its nothing like their boomer games from the 90s
Yes
They never intended for it to not be like this, attacking enemies with dialogue before they turn aggro is willingly implemented into the game as a viable choice.
uninstalled it when the 5th battle in a row was a trap/surprise attack
It doesn't even sound like exploit, but as realistic tactic.
Sometimes it honestly feels mandatory to abuse it even. Example if fighting the ancient sourceror in the mines. It starts with you talking to her from a platform while your party is below some pit. If you fight her this way, you will get massacred by her AOE spells and as well as the dogs that spawn in that chamber.
So this is why you get one of your party members as bait to talk to her from below while you immediately park your characters around her so they can gang up on her as soon as the battle starts.
It's ridiculously stupid but hey it works.
Do you do it at character creation? Like, edit all of the origin characters and then pick the one you want to play? Or is it part of being able to re-spec later?
>hey
>hi
>...
>...
>...
>so, did you want something?
>...
>...
>...
>5 minutes later
>stabbed in the back for being "distracted"
re-spec, you can do it almost immediately now with free dlc
Well, that's how dialogs in rpgs work. NPS wait until you answer them. what's your point? you want to have timers on dialogs?
>Positioning
Positioning doesn't exist in D:OS games, let alone D:OS2 where everyone teleports several times in a turn.
>turn order
Doesn't matter since D:OS2 forces you into a strict round robin system so turn order effectively doesn't exist, not like it's a lot better than D:OS where you could just delay shit indefinitely, but one thing is a system you can break yourself effortlessly while another is a fundamentally broken system you can't fix in any way.
can u re-spec in act 1 now?? been a while since I played
Can you please link here the youtube let's plays you have seen ?
yep, in the arena
No he's saying that it's a tactic in DOS to have one of your characters talk to an enemy while he's not in aggro mode so that your dps can get behind him and stab him in the back.
Stop lying bitch
>Hurr you didn't play the game
How about you actually try to make an argument?
I'm pretty sure he is just criticizing it for being "not realistic" or "dumb"
Not gonna bother arguing with people who obviously have not.
There's no need for an argument when you're literally wrong and anyone who played the games knows it
The game is mechanically sound but something about the design is just off.
The idle animations are the worst. Jesus Christ the direction is off the walls and everything has to be quirky and funny. And the narrator can do fuck himself.
not everything is an argument, sped
get that stick out of your ass and maybe you'll be able to relax a bit
I played with a mod that fixes combat, modifies the armor/mental armor system so that varied parties are viable. Made it 300% better.
I didn't mind the turn based system until enemies started either running, flying, or teleporting away from me. fuck that shit.
DOS2 was my first crpg. I wanted to love it so bad, but the progression just pissed me off to no end. You have so many options of where to go and what to do next...but you're terribly underpowered for all but one of them. You have so many options of how to build your characters...but only a short handful of them are viable.
I thought this shit was supposed to have freedom but it felt like the most restricted game I'd ever played.
>No argument
Okay then, I guess all those other problems like broken economy, non existent crafting, shitty hidden weapon scaling and whatever else do not exist either, let alone all the other basic problems with the combat system.
But of course I haven't played the game and I'm just lying.
There's spells against that
Should I play OS1 or go straight to 2? Are they connected story wise?
I don't care how far you move the goal posts you're a bitch and not worth anyone's time
>Positioning doesn't exist in D:OS games, let alone D:OS2 where everyone teleports several times in a turn.
In a battle where some enemies keep teleporting positioning doesn't exist ? I replied to your spastic bait for the last time. Keep making a fool of yourself.
>Still no argument
Soul, like the red prince canonically having gay sex?
Or the canon trans characters?
Larian is very pro lgbt
Divinity lore is a meme, and the stories are not connected (there's like a 10 thousand year gap between both games). That said, both are great games worth checking out.
>but only a short handful of them are viable.
are u fuckin serious? lol, I beat this game on tactician with my friends easily without even having to put thought into our builds.
I beat for honour with mismatch polymorph and meme pyro/warrior build on the first attempt
The "strong" builds like summoning, lone wolf, necros, crit aero, ranger and 2-handed are strong, yea, but literally after fort joy the entire game is hilariously easy
you have a severe case of "unskilled" if you find this game hard
Do not play dos1, its fucking terrible. Divinity original sin 2 though is incredible
Only some mages and most ranged characters have easy teleport moves anyway. Then again that is why you also teleport them into killzones or a pool of oil so that you can shoot it with a flaming arrow.
yep, just started another game with the gf, eating up the story and killing all the things
>In a battle where some enemies keep teleporting positioning doesn't exist ?
Of course it doesn't.
When everyone teleports multiple times in a turn, ignoring things such as elevation, terrain, obstacles and whatever else positioning goes out of the fucking window.
This is without looking into the other problems that make positioning even more worthless, that is teleporting people into your pocket deathfog/lava blankets for instakills, which are made all the more aggravating by the fact that things like Skin Graft exist.
And even if you ignore Skin Graft, several other skills allow you to further ignore positioning or are basically soft teleports on top of several other stackable teleports.
And this is just a bunch of problems about positioning alone, the rest of the combat system is just as terrible, if not more.
What's so different between the two?
I read posts like this, decide to give the game another try, fuck around, hit a brick wall, post my build online and get met with "wtf you retard, why did you build that way? Here's a 3-deep list of builds that actually work". Quit. Every fucking time. Don't know how you could be unkilled in a fucking crpg, I think it is just not the way you faggots pretend it is.
divinity 1 has a bunch of things that make the gameplay tedious and shit.
So for example, in divinity 2 you can rest up after battles, but in divinity 1 you will have to walk all the way out of the dungeon and tp to town, find a bedroll, rest for a few minutes then walk all the way back.
After just a few times of doing this boring shit you will be sick of it, because unlike other RPGs the economy is not balanced for having consumables, you won't be able to afford skipping this tedious rest shit
Better example: divinity 1 has a forced stealth section, VS unkillable enemies, to progress the story. You MUST be able to sneak past, and unlike divinity 2 there is No Way to RESPEC! So I hope one of your party members learned invisibility spells or levelled sneak or you're cucked
The combat is a lot worse, its very arcadey compared to divinity 2 where each combat the enemy is usually different/unique. In divinity 1 you'll be fighting nonstop waves of orcs and skeletons and listening to exposition dumps by the same 2 imps. the combat AND all persuasion checks are RNG so you'll be forced to savescum often.
obtuse puzzles that require you to examine rooms for fucking ages looking for a tiny lever or get thrown off by a misleading clue, a terrible final boss fight where u literally have to keep an npc alive while it gets focused [and all the associated frustration of that
FUck divinity 1 is just awful
Divinity 2 is one of the best rpgs I've ever played though
also the story of divinity 2 is 99.9% unrelated to divinity 1, they're 10k years apart, so there's absolutely no justification to suffer through it
Just go straight to divinity 2, they ironed out the issues in the game's formula
> fun combat
> great magic system, allowing hybrid builds
> mod support out of the box
> Easy to setup, drop in drop out multiplayer, allowing anyone to join your game. Client can join modded game, since all of the hosts mods will be downloaded automatically
Good luck finding friends to play it from start to finish though. I know I tried. Don't get me wrong, single player is great, but mp has a comfy atmosphere of a table top session without most of the preparations.
I'm honestly disappointed this game was obscured by trashy commie shit "rpg"
spotted the beamdog employee
>You MUST be able to sneak past
It's not hard at all and you have a companion that is locked into the scoundrel toolset so it's factually impossible to have problems with that section.
>The combat is a lot worse, its very arcadey compared to divinity 2
Uh?
D:OS combat is the same exact thing as D:OS2, except without the retarded armor system, infinite teleports and several other skillsets that actually exist this time around.
>where each combat the enemy is usually different/unique.
But D:OS2 has LESS enemy variety than D:OS1, I don't know what you're smoking, the first act in D:OS1 alone has about as many enemy types as Act1+Act2 in D:OS2, 90% of your fights in D:OS2 are against generic humans with a different pajama and maybe some innate buff to spice things up.
>divinity 1
It's like 20 fucking years old.
> in divinity 2 you can rest up after battles
I don't remember any resting. Maybe there was the option in your necromancer's tower, but if it mattered, I'd recall it.
It's kind of difficult to get a friend to play a 80+ game with you
I'm lucky enough to have one friend who had an interest in playing the game straight. I know the multiplayer is designed to allow shenanigans but I hate shenanigans. We tried playing 4 player with his brothers and it was a nightmare.
retard
just go to any retirement home
It's good, listen to contrarians and do the opposite.
No, motherfucker, I do not speak it.
lmao that u cant even address half my criticisms of that tedious, shit game because theyre correct
>It's not hard at all
nothing in divinity 1 is hard, its just BORING AS FUCK lol
>the retarded armor system, infinite teleports and several other skillsets that actually exist this time around.
small brain take
rng-heavy is vastly inferior system
and yes, having more abilities/teleports etc is good not bad
you are complaining about improvements to the shitty combat of dos1
>90% of your fights in D:OS2 are against generic humans with a different pajama
and there it is! exposing yourself as never having made it past fort joy, just like 80% of the retards who complain about divinity 2
lmao, just lmao
divinity 1 might slap new names on enemies, but the fights in cyseal are the same as the fights vs braccus' minions, and the boreal kingdom, and the void creatures: auto attacking you to death, with the occasional status effect. fucking snooze material
>in divinity 1 you will have to walk all the way out of the dungeon and tp to town, find a bedroll, rest for a few minutes
...or just use restoriation or a health potion.
>the economy is not balanced for having consumables
The economy is broken and getting rich is easy like in most RPGs, you can steal everything in Cyseal really easily and from then on never worry about money again, also crafting potions is a thing.
>divinity 1 has a forced stealth section, VS unkillable enemies, to progress the story. You MUST be able to sneak past
Use invisibility, which is easy to get, send 1 character through and activate the portal then port the rest of the party in.
>there is No Way to RESPEC
There' a demon that can respec you in the end of time.
>I hope one of your party members learned invisibility spells or levelled sneak
There are 2 skill schools with invis spells and you can always just use and potion or scroll instead.
>The combat is a lot worse, its very arcadey compared to divinity 2 where each combat the enemy is usually different/unique
It's literally the opposite, resistance in DOS1 makes encounters much more unique, as opposed to DOS2 where the armor system makes everything about damage damage damage.
>In divinity 1 you'll be fighting nonstop waves of orcs and skeletons
Undead are mostly a thing in Act 1 and become less common afterward, orcs are even less prevalent (you find some on the beach and once in Luculla, then later on only at Hunter's Edge).
>obtuse puzzles
I'll give you that but there's only 1 really bad with difficult to find switches in the Immaculate quest line.
>terrible final boss fight where u literally have to keep an npc alive
What? The final boss fight was pretty underwhelming, dragon died in like 2 turns with all the OP shit you have in the end.
>90% of your fights in D:OS2 are against generic humans with a different pajama
dude seriously? You spend all of D:OS1 fighting the fucking immaculates and they never even change uniform.
>divinity 1 might slap new names on enemies
well, what do you expect? There are only so many sprites you can fit on a CD.
Redpill me on 2h. Which is the way to go in general, dual wielding, sword&board or 2H?
what do you think looks cooler?
Yea Forums is no one's hivemind, shill.
>SOUL
The game is one of the most shallow RPG's to come in recent years. Stop chewing your crayons now.
Shields are OP because of the shield toss ability.
>>divinity 1 has a forced stealth section, VS unkillable enemies, to progress the story.
>There are 2 skill schools with invis spells and you can always just use and potion or scroll instead.
all of this is some fancy mental gymnastics to say you should have invisibility
but there's no way to know that, and that respec isnt available till after you beat the fucking game lmao
>The economy is broken and getting rich is easy like in most RPGs
not true unless u steal everything thats bolted down. Again, not something I should have to fucking do, didnt have to do it in the superior sequel game
>resistance in DOS1 makes encounters much more unique, as opposed to DOS2 where the armor system makes everything about damage damage damage
this is the stupidest take I've ever heard. DIvinity 2 STILL HAS RESISTANCES, you have to check the enemy stats every fucking fight lol unless ur on baby mode, especially if you have mages using elements.
Shield is for being unkillable with the shield up ability
Dual wield is for high damage and Dodge tanking
2H is for saying "fuck defense" and just going full crit to delete enemies in 2 hits
sword and board is only good later when u get ridic high physical armour
dual wielding is only good to get high crit, even then its not very good, unless u go scoundrel/daggers and backstab
2H is based, and strong, and also the only way to really enjoy the anathema quest reward. Spears are weird though, cos u need dex and not strength, theyre fun to experiment but i dont really recommend them
>mental gymnastics to say you should have invisibility
Literally just use an invisibility potion nigger. You can craft or buy one.
>not something I should have to fucking do, didnt have to do it in the superior sequel game
Are you fucking shitting me? DOS 2 encourages stealing shit even harder because of the retarded level scaling where your equipment immediately becomes obsolete when you level up since higher level equipment always has a huge jump in stats.
>DIvinity 2 STILL HAS RESISTANCES
It literally doesn't have resistances to status effects, once armor is out status effects are applied automatically unlike in DOS 1 where there's bodybuilding and willpower. DOS2's armor system incentivizes focusing on nothing but raw damage over everything else so fights mostly play the same.
>DIvinity 2 STILL HAS RESISTANCES
Really? I never noticed. Worked out fine just smacking everything with my sword. Barely even used my ability to turn into a dragon outside of the parts made expressly for it.
>smacking everything with my sword
How do you actually play with melee in Divinity 2? I used an archer and already suffered with all the flinching whenever I got hit, being in melee range must be hell with all the constant flinching.
Fortify makes you immune to a bunch of stuff even after your physical armor is gone
Magic shell too
I want to hug the Red Prince!
I used metamagic to have every level of my spell book be some variation of "Raise Dead", and found a staff that increased all of their weapons to +3. It got pretty silly.
I don't remember having much trouble. Actually don't recall that mechanic at all. Fucked around a bit to start with, trying out different things, but after ~1/3 through the game lifesteal made me pretty much invincible. I think I had over 100% later on, I don't know. Anyway that whirlwind attack turned into a full heal really early on and just got better as time went on.
>Literally just use an invisibility potion nigger. You can craft or buy one.
thats what I ended up doing, but I'm just saying its a shitty section
Yeah the level scaling is pretty shit, its such a huge flaw. At higher difficulties you basically have to replace ur gear every single fucking level. It also invalidates tons of quest rewards. It's a problem with the game for sure
>DOS2's armor system incentivizes focusing on nothing but raw damage over everything else so fights mostly play the same.
This is true but at the same time, rolling the dice for crowd control sucked ass for me, so I didn't mind. The combat still has a lot of depth in d2 imo. Also, almost every skill tree is viable so you still have tons of variety, and they each play different, even if its all "just damage"
Neither stops knocked down which is by far the most important effect.
The best scenario is when you get to play with people who already beaten the game and only play it to fuck around and have a good time
First aid cures it
>stop
>cure
Yeah, dude, there are very few games that can compete with Diablo 2 in terms of build diversity. It's fantastic. Really smooth, snappy controls, too. It's just a joy to play. But I wouldn't dismiss 1 just because you can't toggle run/walk. It's a good game in its own right.
I wish this game have better summon systems or summoning creatures. Conjurer is already very strong from the begining and have big elemental variety - depending on situation you can create elemental imps or totems, but almost all other spells are just buffs and not even very good ones. You stuck with the same core spells from the begining and nothing will change in high levels.
Sorry, were you talking about Destiny? I haven't played those.
To be fair you get other skills at high level, you should have maxed out another skill tree
>SOUL
No. D:OS2 is completely aesthetically bankrupt.
The story is mediocre, the writing is juvenile and the setting is a bland high-fantasy pastiche that makes every character exceptional (so comparatively none of them are).
Considering the gameplay isn't really very good either, besides having the common sense to be turn based, I have to wonder why anyone would play this and pretend it's good.
Is it purely irrational fanboy cope?
Genuinely trying to understand.

>The story is mediocre, the writing is juvenile

>the setting is a bland high-fantasy pastiche that makes every character exceptional
nope, also I bet you call every fantasy setting that isn't lotr a pastiche.
>Considering the gameplay isn't really very good either
wrong again
>Is it purely irrational fanboy cope?
irrational is you trying to act like a universally praised, 8.7 on metacritic is a steaming turd.
Seething cope, lol

This is every single fantasy RPG.

better than western garbage of cuck porn, fluid genders, meaningless alignment systems, worthless dialogue and actual "NPC" companions and characters, How can you immerse yourself in this rubbish without being a prole ?
>knocked down
Are you getting knocked down by slipping on ice or by enemies? Cus if it's the ice there is an easy solution. Get your boots and go to the crafting screen and combine them with nails. One of the best recepies in the game the other being the 100% resist potions which can bring your resistance above 100% and make you heal from enemy spells LMAO!
>tfw walking on lava with 120% fire resist
Wtf where was this information on my three difficulty playthroughs
Sebille turned out to be really cute, despite the overdose of edge at the start.
Wasn't lava different from fire? Never tried walking on it with a 100% potion. The cute thing i remember about lava is the teleport spell and the morph/switch terrain spell the metamorph skill tree had.
Play the game. It's all there. You probably rushed trough everything.
Welcome. It is a great game. Had a lot of fun with it! Battles can be difficult. And sometimes you’ll have to wipe and play again with better positioning in mind. The game is also great in multiplayer and I love all the side quests access options you have to complete an objective. My biggest problem with the game is great physical and magical armor stuff gets a bit boring and the item combining to make new items is overly convoluted. Other than that 4/5. can’t wait for baldurs gate 3!
I'm pretty sure it is like fire, yeah. It's funny because you get insane healing from it too, because it insta kills the negative damage insta heals you. Maybe they changed it with definitive edition? I know they made a ton of changes, nerfed a bunch of spells, made runes 1 slot limited, etc.
Yeah D:OS2 really reminds me of Morrowing with the freedom you get to fuck around with recipes and magic and stuff. It just kicks it a few gears more with all the elemental interactions and the weight shenenigans. D:OS2 is an amazing game.
No man wtf. Im shocked, i didnt rush anything either
I mean, I guess combat systems and world interactions have improved with technology
Don't really know how else it's that different
>the item combining to make new items is overly convoluted
The start is definitely overwhelming. You get so much shit to loot and you've no idea what's useful and what's worthless so your inventory is this cluttered mess of random shit. I'd much that you'd acquire the recipes throughout the game instead of just having to randomly smash shit together.
You definitely rushed. I'm not even going to ask you how much you played. My almost 100% of the game with one path is around 200 hours and i have extra 100 more hours with different origins. The game is massive and if you rush you'll miss a ton.
Get chloroform on all your party for easy ranged magic CC, on top of that scoundrel unlcoks a teleport at rank 2 and teleports as broken as fuck. Don't bother grabbing physical CCs on your casters since dealing physical dmg it's easy enough and comes with CC naturally, grab raise bloated corpse instead so they can help deal physical dmg is they absolutly need to, it's just 1 AP and deals ok dmg
I'm one of those gronards who will tell you its a shit cRPG by all metrics: gameplay, story and atmosphere.
But I wont deny it has soul, say what you want about Swen but he got a kickstarter budget and fufiled his promises to take the gullible morons on a fantasy adventure and he delivered with the gusto of a DM on his donut steel not-tolkien high fantasy setting. He delivered, he didn't compromise his vision, even the terrible ideas. PoE felt like a billion tiny hands tearing it into a billion directions it didn't want to go, DOS at least had a captain to tell it to go over a cliff.
Cool Baldur's Gate 2 thread.
>boomies hate it
I am 38 years old and i like my old games and newer games like Divinity:OS2. The haters are mostly underage shitposters engulfed in modern outrage culture or wanting to ''fit in''. I can like Wizardry 8, Baldur's Gate 2, Divinity:Original Sin 2 and Tyranny all at the same time as i can hate Pillars of Eternity and Fallout New Vegas. I am my own man and i can't be swayed by peer pressure since most of you are not old enough or smart enough for that matter to be my peers.
I've been thinking of doing another playthrough. Any good mods come out lately? Divinity Unleashed looks interesting, if only for the armor system adjustment and permanent summons. Might also just say fuck it, remove party limit, and recruit all origin characters because why not. Any difficulty mods I can slap on to accommodate a larger party like this? How's the bard skill mod? Thought about making Lohse an actual bard. Any other worthwhile skill mods without bloating the game up too much?

We're talking about a fucking CRPG Lol
the unfounded sense of superiority you've cultivated is astounding
Here is how to win.
1 character as a Warrior with 2 points in necro and get blood heal. Literal 1 shotting and immortality.
1 character that is a Summoner with healing a buff skills to use after summoning.
1 character to set the field with magic, with healing a buff skills as well.
A rogue or ranger with a crossbow. I honestly preferred Rogue because they're fucking broken and can bypass armor and attack health straight up. Stack map movement abilities and sneak and your rogue will kill a unit every turn no matter what it is.
absolutely seething tastelet mad he got btfo.
>DOS1 knights with pre-patch weather the storm
FUCKING INVINCIBLE
The game actually gave a real nice power fantasy to all archetypes. Wizards controlled the battlefield and could determine which direction it would go. Warriors were both fucking invincible and hit like a truck up close. Rogues could move across the map in an instant, had just about an infinite amount of actions per turn, and could stealth mid-combat no problem. Fun times. Fuck balance.
>fuck balance
the unrelenting cry of a normalfag retard.
I'm not sure that's a good thing. Zoomies can't tell the difference. Only enjoyable thing was coop and fucking around with my buddies griefing each other to make combat and puzzles harder and fun. The humor was largely cringe. Even seemingly interesting characters like red prince turn out to bragging douchebags who dont change across the game. Only thing that genuinely seemed worth playing the game for was lohse's singing once in a while which was well executed the 2 times it happened...
As someone who’s never played this, is this easy to pick up and play? I’m really interested in games with local co-op and my wife and I have been looking for a game that has a lengthy story we can play through together. I’m really hyped for Baldurs Gate 3, but since it’s probably never gonna for PS4 this looks like a good alternative and for 20 bucks why pass on it?
Should we play the first Original Sin? Or is it fine to just jump into 2?
Go to bed, Josh.
I was like this at first but it’s actually a very simple game. Just jump in there
First original sin is a clusterfuck. You can start right with OS 2. There like 1000 years between the two games.
For a long co-op game with family, yes your only option is this if you want something modern. The combat is too easy on normal, ramp it up to tactician. Mobility spells are broken (get adrenaline on everyone). DOS 1 is a better game combat wise but DOS 2 is more enjoyable for puzzles and such. The two games take place a long time from each other so order doesnt really matter. Since there is pre-gen characters you'll lose a lot of content if you make your own. I recommend Fane, Red Prince, Lohse and Sebile. Replace Red Prince with Ifan if you think he's annoying. If you're looking for a dark whimsy game with a lot of charm this isn't it. It's a failed imitation with much shittier writing. The cute moments with pet pal disguise this
I miss when Yea Forums was actually friendly and useful
Thank you both. I think I’m sold. Picking this up tonight after work.
There's no connection to the plot between the two. The first is maybe a bit more cartoonish and whimsical, and focuses more on the two player characters and their relationship with one another in regards to banter, decision making, plot, and whatnot. The second is a bit more grim and more involved with the origin characters than custom ones, but custom characters work just as well as players. Both are great co-op games, though I think DOS1 was aimed more at 2-player co-op, and 2 for 4-player.
>nope
>wrong
I don't know how many *teleports behind u* and *nibbles ur ear* it takes for you to perceive childishness.
Are you even an adult? The way you're responding to legitimate critique is itself histrionic and childish. Fanboyish, actually.
This is very embarrassing for you.
>nope, also I bet you call every fantasy setting that isn't lotr a pastiche.
>[game] isn't bad if [other game] is bad!
Both untrue and absolutely asinine.
The fact that I can describe the setting as a 'bland pastiche with unexceptional characters' and your only objection is the 'pastiche' part basically says it all.
You either agree with me and are in denial or you're just very, very stupid.
>irrational is you trying to act like a universally praised, 8.7 on metacritic is a steaming turd
You realize that the argumentum ad populum you're attempting here is logically fallacious and therefore irrational by definition?
Is being a brainlet required to enjoy this game?
next larianigger please, I'm done with this one
Again, the argument was not pertaining to the quality of the game itself but to the vision and purity of intent that the game has. This vision is what I choose to call 'soul', i dont care what the zoomies think it means.
Kojima has pseudo-pilosophy and body horror, suda51 has constant hand-jerking movements, Lucas Pope has real investigation of fucking recipts and documents. These games have a vision and the quality of the game experience is tied directly to that vision.
DOS has such a vision, i just wished it was actually making an RPG that takes advantage of the fucking computer doing all the math for the simulation of fantasy roleplay, instead DOS seems to imitate nostalgia over pen and paper but doing jack all to improve it (and adding unnecessary bullshit to ruin the build variety and fucking the pace of combat.)
>Baldur's Gate 2 writing
Because you shouldn't listen to Yea Forums?
>how many *teleports behind u* and *nibbles ur ear*
how many are there?
in the game? none.
living in user's head, rent free? plenty, I guess
That sounds about right.
There's like that 1 *boops nose* interaction and I guess Malady comes off as a Mary Sue OC but other than that it's not nearly as pervasive as the asspained guy makes it out
>acquire pyroclastic eruption
>stack enemies with teleportation
>win
this skill is fucking bullshit, one shot everything in tactician
>t.
This is one of the most fun fights in the game. The sheer "oh shit" factor once the blobs start putting oil and trying to save that little shit was amazing.
>Normally you want an all eggs in one basket style because of how physical armor and magic armor works, since you'll be killing 3 healthbars instead of 2 otherwise.
Don't listen to this advice. Mobs follow the same rules as player character so if they are mages they'll have shit melee armor and if they are warriors they'll have shit magic armor, so a varied party works amazingly well since you just focus your mages on the enemy warriors and your warriors on the enemy mages. Also, there's a couple fights with enemies immune to melee or immune to magic so you can get stuck and forced to respec if you only stack once and don't know how to do it properly(which you won't since it's your first run. Keep stacked parties for subsequent runs if you enjoy it, but for first timers a varied party is way better.
My cpu didn't liked it at all.
The most stupid thing I've done is dye poison red and reverse pickpocket it into the enemy and watch them kill themselves from drinking poison that shows as health potions.
>either outright lying or didn't even get halfway out of Fort Joy
the absolute damage control
what are you trying to prove?
you are mentally ill, seek help
I managed to do it by the skin of my teeth with no cheese by healing/buffing him non stop. I'm pretty sure I had at least 2 characters dedicated to saving his dumb ass for the whole fight. Was fun. Now I just cryofreeze him over and over again.
Answer the question, then.
I feel like this game is entirely unenjoyable unless you co-op with a buddy and completely ignore the terrible writing
really wish warfare had more cool skills, it feels really lackluster compared to magic school for exemple.
Did anyone try the Epic Encounters 2 mod? Apparently Larian helped over see the project.
youtube.com
y do people enjoy playing these games with so much text? its just such a huge bore to read trough all that..
majority of it is voice acted
So you are saying you want it to be RTwP?
You'll get there when you grow up.
warfare feels like it's a sub set that you add to another more fleshed out school
Its fun if the text is actually fun to read. But in Divinity’s case, it probably isn’t
idk, i read books, mishima, dostojesvki, all that crap, i enjoy reading books, but once i play these crpgs, i get so bored out of my mind, i think its because i expect a certain level of writing and obviously compared to the shit there is out there to read these games are like 1/10, the only real games i enjoyed were fallout and that was mainly for the setting and atmosphere, some fun qeusts here and there but they didnt abuse it with too much text
still, really amazed how insanely popular these games are, so much text, its really hard to believe the majority of the gaming population who is kinda braindead actually plays and enjoys this, you could torture me and i still couldnt beat this game
>insanely popular
They aren't. OS2 is only the most popular recently because it had coop and the combat was fun to mess around. The narrative was ironically its worst aspect despite being an RPG.
It's a light novel's worth at best
It devolves into "Make everyone physical damage with 1 necromancer for the mobs with 10000000 armor and 1 magic armor" because now every fight is a race to whoever can strip the other of their CC immunities.
Act 1 was a lot more fun than the rest of the game.
This game would have completely flopped if it wasn't for co-op and streamer shilling
Gonna play DO1 now for the first time.
>Beginner tips?
Anything to watch out for, keep an eye on, whatever etc
>Must have mods?
Like removing paper sound from moving around stuff in BG1 or something like that
>Tactical mode?
Heard the game is too easy without tactical mode.
>It literally doesn't have resistances to status effects, once armor is out status effects are applied automatically
It literally does and you would know if you had played the game.
i dont know how much OS2 sold but it has 70 thousand positive reviews on steam, resident evil 2 has 35 thousand..
to add with my experience, i think what kills these games are the sidequests for me, i have always been a linear baby, just like my books, i played final fantasy 3-6 and im planning on playing trough 7-9 soon, i enjoy them, you go from one town to other while just completing the game, there are no real dumb side quests
i dont know why its so expected in these western games to have a set of sidequests to inflate your game or something, especially when i tried original sin 1 years ago, it seemed sidequests were mandatory to complete if you play on a higher difficulty.. you go in a town, boom, 20 question marks, of wich 5 you will only be able to beat when you come back.. rinse and repeat while they dripfeed you the main story here and there
yeah, nothing for me
We did but some vocal minority told you otherwise.
>The narrative was ironically its worst aspect despite being an RPG
why exactly? It's no worse than most other games.
>physical
Enjoy getting stunlocked whioe moving around since your ranged attacks are so limited
Going full magic with aeromancy and hydrosophy is the best course in this game
He's an autist that can't handle people calling DOS2 Divinity so he constantly references Divinity II, not Original Sin 2. Flinching isn't in DOS2.
Well rested, which is given by first aid, both cures and PREVENTS knockdown. You would know if you weren't a brainlet.
It's just that it's completely uninteresting, uninspired and very generic. It feels like someone's DND session got turned into a game with how fucking inconsistent the tone is in this game.
>Genuinely trying to understand.
I'm going to explain it to you real easy. You are a contrarian.
Currently replaying DivOS1 with a friend, I make 10k gold a level crafting just selling armor I put together from scraps from merchants. Probably not as efficient as stealing, but it's an option.
Pic related is the difference between crafted items and non-crafted items. Slap tormented souls on your weapons. Slap elemental essences on them for damage. Keep nails and put them in your boots. Get both crafting skills to 2, take scientist, and then have +craft and +blacksmith bracers and belt.
like most rpgs complementing your character's powers is key for a good time, you can try min maxing but you'll likley fuck it up and have a bad time if you are new to it. Aim for a well rounded team, imo make sure one is a elemental wizard. Always have a shovel, make sure someone has animal speak and talk to any animal you see. When you get to the town, get a few levels before exploring. imo avoid mods the first play through, you won't know what you like till after because everyone has a bit of different tastes with this one. Go Tactical mode if you play a lot of CRPGs
One thing I hope for DOS3..I mean BG3 is that they fucking rework the crafting mechanic. God damn it was so fucking tedious to use in OS2.
>Beginner tips?
Craft. If you don't want to spend the skill points, make one of the companions or a hired merc your craft mule. Take em out, make em craft shit, then bench em again. Collect nails, combine nails with whatever footwear you're wearing to become immune to slipping. Stack elemental resistances. Your wizard is there for battlefield surface control and buffing your melee dude into an unstoppable murder-machine. Steal paintings for quick dosh early in the game.
I don't even have a beefed up machine and it handled fine, it might be time to upgrade user.
That's fucking wrong though? Are you retarded? Between Metamorph, Rogue, and Wayfarer mobility and insane damage in addition to teleport you steamroll through everything. The comp basically instagibs a few enemies at the start and you win via action economy and allows for optimal re-positioning and cheesing. Pretty damn sure I beat the final boss pretty underleveled too on tactician.
>completely uninteresting, uninspired and very generic
>It feels like someone's DND session got turned into a game with how fucking inconsistent the tone is in this game
I'm still lost here because that's all crpgs short of two (at most). I mean that seems to be how it goes for RPGs in general, it's either BloodSoul level where story just isn't there and lets you fill it yourself or it's most JRPGs where it's doughnut steel story that we have all heard a million times.
QuietDayOnTheMarket and Increase movement speed
I thought it had plenty of cool spells but they were mostly the higher tier ones. Lots of cool spells made you feel like an actual juggernaut like challenge where you challenge a character and have a few turns only to kill him or he gets bonus stats or overpower where if you have more armor than them you just smash them.
No, it’s not. It’s a shit SHIT SHITTY FFICKING GARBAGE GAME, you fucking kiddinity shill retard.
I'm fine with less of a focus on crafting, honestly. It's frustrating that I've played through this twice and seeing the sheer difference in item quality with crafting. It could be because I'm using daggers and maybe storebought/dropped daggers just suck? Because I randomly got a tenebrium scythe drop that I used for the last quarter of the game my first run through and I was an engine of fucking demise.
>It feels like someone's DND session got turned into a game with how fucking inconsistent the tone is in this game
wait when did we star talking about Baldur's gate?
>uninteresting, uninspired and very generic
Name 5 stories(not even games, all mediums included) that have the same premise. It should be easy if it's so generic.
Ultimate battle tip: You know all those boxes and barrels laying around? Carry that shit around. Keep a stack of them in your homestead for use. You see a fight that's preceded by the dumbass monologuing at you? SURROUND HIM WITH BOXES. He's stuck. He can't fucking do anything. The first boss who summons his stupid ass butt-buddies? Boom. Gay baby jail. None of them can move.
>It feels like someone's DND session got turned into a game with how fucking inconsistent the tone is in this game.
I ask "exactly" ya loser
break it down.
He's not wrong. Take for example. There is a bunch of silly shit going on that it really doesn't feel like a "WORLD IS GONNA END HERE GO FIGHT GODS" type of game. I think the system benefits a more sandboxy adventure game more than anything like D&D but even then D&D doesn't allow for the shit possible in their system
Here's some actual tips. Try not to cheese the game with shit like or it becomes boring real quick. And yes you can cheese almost every encounter to some degree, but then you're missing out on a lot of the fun. Another tip is skills books are priceless, almost never sell them unless every character knows it because then you can just use the free respec to experiment. In fact, my personal recommendation is have at least 1 guy specced into stealing(I had all 4) and always steal skillbooks (be careful as they'll be searched when NPCs realize they'd been pickpocketed so stash that shit quickly). Consumables like poitions are everywhere so don't hoard them, use them. Also food is surprisingly good, sometimes better than low level potions at higher ranks since they heal %. And lastly, it's not really worth it to make a pure healer/buffer character since spells tend to have long cooldowns and you get limited actions. Instead it's easier to have some utility on all characters.
>I cheesed the fuck out of the game and now it feels cheap
You played yourself.
The game needed more spells in general
By the end of act 2 you have everything available
>I have to restrict the way I play despite how flexible the gaming system is because the tone of the game is srs bsns
nah, fuck off retard. Modus operandi of the game is to do as much silly shit as you can to make things easier in combat and the game tells you as much. Cheesing would be taking the death fog barrel at the start of the game and using it to kill that retard with his two retainers at the start then doing the play dead skill with fane for an instant level 3.
The first game is better. Larian's writing is more suited for the whacky world of the first game, but most people are filtered by fun high fantasy and want dark shit like Witcher and Game of Thrones so Larian made Div 2 a typical darker fantasy game.
Shame.
Also, Divinity 2s story is the EXACT SAME STORT as Pillars of Eternity. Think about it.
Based. The only fun takeaway from Div for me is absolutely fucking clown-carring the combat system and turning every battlefield into a disaster. Especially OS2 because I couldn't stand the fucking walking plot device Malady was.
play tyranny or pillars of eternity instead of this boring generic shit
Keep sucking that Obsidian microdick, faggot
I want to try the game but if it's filled with gays then that's gonna be a hard no. If it's minimal faggotry then it'll be a bit more acceptable.
All the companion are bisexual. Hell you can even romance them with the skelly race.
I managed to do that fight and save the guy too but I don't think it would have been possible without the dome.
It's only gay if you decide to be gay
Theres only 2 instances of gay in the game, and both are in the final act of the game like 30 meters from each other. Its like Larian was like "fuck! we forgot about the gay people, quick, put it in".
Oh and you can let one of the gay people die, on purpose
Can confirm beat the game with my friend on tactician. I was spellcaster. He was tank/phys dps. We beat the game fine. Maybe try an easier system like rtwp.
I love the one with the slugs in that cellar. SOUL.
>Doing the final boss fight solo last week
>actual schizo thinks he's surrounded by gays and trannies while in fact DOS2 has less faggots than PoE2. (only 2 iirc).
I'm thinking user himself might be a closet gay and is deathly afraid of admitting it.
If you don't report the Magisters' crimes to the Paladins in Reaper's Coast, do they still genocide the Magisters before you arrive in Arx?
So lohse is a tranny?
No. The demon is female with big fat slimy titties.
What gave you that idea?
No she just looks like one. But she has a sweet vag. My player character can confirm.
Reminder that "Honour Mode" is like the exact opposite of how anyone will actually play that mode. And That's A Good Thing.
Death Fog cheese iirc.
Actually they are perfect for it because DnD 5e fosters that same kind of absolute trash community and deserves them in turn.
her voice turned into a man's when talking to that elf hobo.
And your mind immediately went to 'tranny' rather than 'possessed by a demon' like she literally told you when you first met her?
"possessed by a demon" is just a metaphor for tranny m7
The Exorcist must've been a really weird movie for you.

It's fun for one play through, and only half way does it stay entertaining. What I'm saying is, the game is shit.
Why the fuck the hottest girl in the game is Adramalikh?
It's interesting how Lohse behaves like a typical slut while Sebille fall in love with you and this love defines her as a person and shape the world literally if she becomes tree or some shit
So what's the best origin character to play as?
Fane
Fane makes for the best murderhobo
Ifan or Fane.
Save Fane for the second playthrough.
Lohse's got the most interesting and unique story.
Based
my physical copy for switch from lrg gets here friday. i've been patiently waiting to play it until i got the physical version. i cannot fucking wait vros
imagine being this new
If you can make turn-based more interesting or have more depth, I'm all for it. Hell even FF7 remake looks better despite being a jRPG.
RTwP is just jank as hell, it was jank in BG2, arcanum, kotor, and total fucking jank-master prime in PoE:dedfire. Pic unrelated
An accurate post.
Interesting. I was hoping the answer wasn't going to be the lol so randumb mr skellyton XD but I guess that's the target audience.
What makes you think he's lol so randumb?
Dumbass I said he makes for the best murderhobo (which is how you're going to play and we both know it), because he's amoral, slightly holier-than-thou, disconnected from the rest of the world and possible the most powerful character in canon.
Why does two entire ropes, make one single fuse?
What kind of mega fuse is this?
Like I get that getting 5-10 fuses off of a single rope might have been a little bit ridiculous gameplay wise, but couldn't they at least have made the recipe 1 rope + knife = fuse?
Was thinking of starting this game up, looked at character creation. Is ice/wind magic focus good, or would you recommend something else?
does anyone else game randomly crashes after saving or loading? At this point it's almost unplayable for me since after a while the game closes itself when I quicksave
Yeah Hydro/Aero is great. The only problem with that is that using those pretty much excludes you from using any fire-related things. But that's a problem with the fire-related stuff, not with Hydro and Aero. Remember to always precast Rain before battle.
>Download it
>Have fun
>Enemies not respawning is a big put off
>Well whatever i'll start a new game with friends
>Shill the game to some friends
>They keep playing fucking lol and shit games
End me bros.
I can't decide what class to play with Loshe, do you recommend spellcaster or ranged?
Hydro has healing, magic armor recovery, and freezing liquid surfaces. Aero has stuns, teleports, and electrifying liquid surfaces, plus a few buffs like haste, invisibility, a blind aura, and a dodge buff. They synergize well. You'll want someone else to cover the other elements if you go that way.
Put at least one point in polymorph. Heck every character should at least have 1 point in that shit.
You can make her whatever you want. In my first playthrough I made her an archer with polymorph skills. Get a fuck-ton of teleport and the flight skill so you can reach any part of the map, then snipe fuckers with height advantage damage bonus.
i didnt knew that was possible, i always thought the dyed potions were for trolling people in multiplayer
Absolutely the most bases post IT.
>muh tactical combat relying on positioning
Doesn't matter when you can just teleport all enemies and allies around the battlefield
>muh chesslike turn based combat
The ONLY Crpg to do turnbased combat that worth a second look in the last 30 years is Temple of Elemental Evil with the CO8 and temple plus+ mods. Shit is the most based Crpg there is and every other attempt at turnbased is legit not even as tactical as a 2 decade old game like final fantasy tactics or ogre tactics.
Larianiggers are obviously a newfag phenomena when it comes to crpgs and a cancer that must purged but normalfaggotry always reigns as the most garbage. See fifa. Best game ever if we are think that selling games is a metric for good games.
>muh tactical combat relying on positioning
>muh chesslike turn based combat
Actual things in DOS1 by the way. But yes DOS2 boils down to STACK DAMAGE KILL THING FAST. It's just that a lot of casuals never realize this and play in poor ways which actually ironically result in tactical play.
>buzzwords and muh nostalgia
why cant contrarian wojaks give a real critique? they only say a bunch of subjective words like
>shit
>garbabe
>bland
>cancer
>normies
>stupid
and so on
you brainlets cant give a single good description of why you think something is bad without recurring to buzzwords or subjective adjs, cause you know the moment you start describing something in detail, your retarded "logic" shows up and everyone can destroy your irrational whinning, just let people discuss things they like instead of shitposting everywhere trying to attract more parrots to your cynical asshole ways of living
What I've started doing for posts like these is essentially just throwing the same post back at them but with the opposite opinion.
It's a bit disheartening how often anons keep going without catching on, though...
What pairing in D:OS 2 that is the most wholesome? I need some cute fluffy shit while killing everyone in this journey.
Supposedly Sebille gets pretty cute with the protag, contrary to her edgelord intro. I haven't gotten that far with her, didn't take her along for my playthrough. Otherwise everyone just kinda gets along. Lohse is the only sort of broody character until you get her demon out, Ifan being a second with his war vet ptsd thing. Red Prince is basically destined to fuck another red lizard, so don't get too attached unless you're ok with sharing. Fane learns that mortals are worth protecting.
They're all a bit busy with their own plots to really get involved with each other outside of occasional banter, if I remember right. I might just not be remembering right, though.
Dem hips
I did give critiques. All of the arguments for why the dos games are tactical and challenging are thrown out the window when you can just completely set up your team and enemies with teleport after the battle starts. Toee was actually challenging because you are limited to the rules. It doesn't give you physically game breaking skills right out of the gate.
>HUEHUE I AM SILLY
it was a tranny demon
>forgetting about the best man
Why is Beast's life such suffering?
No one's fault but your own that you choose to not read or process the critiques then rest on your bias to ignore facts. I put like 90hours in dos 1 and steam rolled the game because after realizing that if your 4 party members have teleport you can just cheese every encounter. Random explosive barrels just adds to how incredibly easy and cheesy the combat is.
Have you ever played TOEE? Game is based. I suggest it. Its 5 bucks on gog and worlds better than dos baby games.
this, that spell was incredibly useful, we stacked up the top and spammed the bubble plus the aoe armour/mr regen spells on cd. was still tricky. great fight
In light of recent BG3 drama i'm glad you decided to give it a try instead of listening to shitflingers. One of my absolutely favourite games and is, indeed, as soulful as a modern game can get.
I still haven't beaten the first one. Although I am working on it, got to Silverglen or some shit yesterday. I like the different special arrows, pretty handy so far.
>he
- We - were talking about Divinity 2.
Don't butt in. Retard.
Lohse is really cool if you like that kind of carefree and kinda freaky girl she only explicitly let you continue your relationship with her if you purge all the source from the world, tho, othrwise she call it a day and part ways with her band with no hint of ever seeing you again iirc
He's a bit generic is why. I haven't had him in my party for long enough to see how he does. He's alright, the greatest benefit is that he automatically passes some persuasion checks for you.
Why are you acting like repositioning is free when you have to pay to use it?
Sure thing mister autist.
Sebille is by far the more loving and motherly love interest you can get if you help her, she is just edgy because of her past, but once she gets over that, she is like a kitty also, huge tongue that can go to places
this, out of the girl options, lohse is like that teenage clumsy but really passional love that doesnt last long and sebille if the woman you end up marrying
tfw to dumb for this game
man, fucking lohse was like reliving my first time, good shit
this, Lohse is for virgins that want to know how a good first time feels like
retard
is that so...
The game was ok, but as with many games it suffers from a few problems that massively reduce my enjoyment of it over time;
>They clearly blew their entire load of creative energy on making ways to interact with the world, shortcuts or things to discover or generally things that make the world feel interesting and full on the first two zones, and by the end of the game they're left with tiny maps that have nothing except basic fights and a few quests in them.
>The story, especially at the end, was just fucking awful. Aside from the flip-flopping of who you're supposed to be siding with, the stupid shit they pulled at the end with "Well the Voidwoken are actually the real victims and you stole their world" and the dumb shit with the gods was really badly handled.
>The ending where you had to fight your companions was actually really dumb. For some reason, only Sebille in my party decided to turn against me (even though I did all her shit), and it just led to this one dumb fucking Rogue thinking that she could stand toe to toe with a literal god and his entire party and win, which was stupid as hell.
>Fuck the ending. Especially fuck the ending since the credits story rolled a different choice than the one I picked, but all the choices were bad anyway.
If they hadn't just kept making the areas smaller and less interesting as the story went on, it might actually have been a really good game.
I thought I was an edgelord for not liking the writing. Even for vidya it's a fucking disgrace. It's not even reddit tier, probably facebook tier.
it is pretty good, but I don't think it's that great t.b.h
>plot is just mediocre, never really engaged me, none of the characters were that interesting as well
>all those fucking elements, but like 90+% of the fights end up completely in necrofire, nothing else
>exponential leveling, enemy 2lvls above you is unkillable, 2lvls below is a joke, a super-duper item of legendary king necromancer is worse than a regular shit from a peasants chest just because you found it few levels back
>the retarded magic/physical armor not letting you do anything interesting until they are close to death already. I mean fucking taunt being blocked by physical armor? What the hell
It's alright
Story is mediocre, but that's fine. Not every RPG has to be something groundbreaking or thought provoking. Sometimes, if it's fun enough to just entertain then it'll do the job.
Gameplay is very much built on you breaking it as many ways as possible, which is fine. I thought all the different ways mix and match archtypes was cool as fuck
Character writing and Voice acting is a bit of mixed bag, but overall it's serviceable
This isn't DE or Planetscape Torment. as long as you come in expecting a generic Fantasy setting with a cool few twists and ideas then you'll be satisifed.
It's a dude with boobs.
>Voidwoken are the real victims
Not once are they portrayed as victims.
>Fighting your companions
How the fuck did you manage to fuck it up this bad? All my companions just went "Yup you the boss"
>All choices were bad
Most choices were good, there just isn't one perfect choice which is nice. As for the other well bugs what I can say.
It's not a perfect game but your complaints on it(besides the first one) are also pretty dumb.
Post your PhD, faggot
>How the fuck did you manage to fuck it up this bad?
Did you literally not read the next fucking sentence? Do you just read halfway through a sentence before starting your reply? This is a sign of being an inbred retard.
>Especially fuck the ending since the credits story rolled a different choice than the one I picked
this was one of the funniest, dumbest bugs in a very broken game
arx was just shit at lauch, really wish they'd ditch the early access meme and just release a finished game for once
No I read it. Missing even one companion is impossible with how lenient they are with getting companions to side with you.
>Missing even one companion is impossible
And yet somehow after completing every fucking quest in the game and saving her from her slaver boss or whatever, she decides that she's the one. Fuck if I have any way of knowing how or why, it literally could just as easily be a bug than anything else.
But no, it's "literally impossible" apparently.
Yeah the early access shows really fucking hard at the end of the game because there's just such a clear quality difference between the first zones and the last zones. I wish they would just develop normally and plan ahead so that their end game isn't a rushed mess of empty space and shitty puzzles to pad out runtime.
>Not once are they portrayed as victims.
Kinda sorta, but mostly because the god king and the gods fucked them up so badly in their greed. It's not portrayed that you should side with them so much as that they literally owned the world first and lesser creatures took over in their absence. They want their world back, and if you were in their shoes so would you, but letting them means enslaving everyone, which is terrible and there is no compromise. It doesn't really make sense to side with the god king unless you picked Fane and decided to ignore his character development, or went with an obligatory evil playthrough.
The final choices are all sorta compromises. None of them are perfect, most of them get a sort of good result but the cost generally leaves a bad taste. The "best" ending involves letting yourself get lobotomized, which you can only recover from through Malady's plot magic.
Nah, man. You fucked up somewhere.
I accidentally had very gay, very skelly sex with Ifan and now he won't stop eyeing me.
I'm almost convinced your game bugged out man. Especially with Sebille if you let her kill the Shadow Prince it's pretty much a guarantee she'll follow you. I'm almost tempted to make a quick run up to shadow prince and treat her like complete shit but let her kill him to see if she challenges me.
>If you can make turn-based more interesting or have more depth, I'm all for it. Hell even FF7 remake looks better despite being a jRPG.
>FF7 remake has better combat than D:OS
this is your brain on weebshit
Do the character origin stories or race matter at all? Fane's seems like the most interesting but his drawbacks seem like a pain in the ass. The others sound boring.
What do you mean by matter? If you play a premade character, their story becomes the story you have to play through. If you make a custom character, you just play the normal game story and you engage with theirs as side quests which you do so they don't fuck you over at the end of the game.
You just get to play as the characters and see the story from their POV. It's like if you were able to play as Minsc or Edwin or Jan in BG.
All the origin characters have unique quests related to them. And not just super small side quests too, they're pretty significant lorewise and span multiple arcs. You can do all the quests of your companions but you'll be missing out on 2 quests minimum unless you mod the game.
Fane is a bit like playing a Malkavian in VTMB
Ok. In that case, rank the origin stories plox.
Just pick red prince
Top tier storyline imo
Also I wonder if there is an edit of the nwf scene and sadha
Somewhat subjective in terms of how good they are, they are all pretty good. However, in terms of importance to the overall world I think it goes Fane > Lohse > Beast = Lohse > Ifan = Red Prince. Again that's not quality since IMO Red Prince story is one of the coolest, it's just the least relevant to the immediate plot.
Yup. Her and Ifan will ditch you depending on what ending you choose. Pretty dumb desu
I'm mad that the endings in general don't mention the romances.
>story is mediocre
because sure you weeb shits love the "fight god with schoolgirls" trope in all JRPGs
Should read
Fane > Lohse > Beast = Sebile > Ifan = Red Prince
Did any of your companions betray you, Yea Forums?
Fane's storyline is more or less the main plot, so you'll experience it anyway and he will talk during the events that matter.
Basically pick anyone but Beast or Ifan as your main character and then recruit Fane
For me personally I'd say Red Prince as main character, with Sebille, Loshe and Fane in the party for the most interactions.
>tfw reached Arx, did a few sidequests, decided I don't feel like playing more right now and will continue later
>it was 2018
Doesn't really matter that much who you pick as you can understand pretty much 100% of their story as companions.
the choices of companions are sometimes random
I remember noticing this first when i found the phoenix egg
Lohse first said there that we should eat the egg, but i reloaded since i forgot to do something i wanted before that or some shit, and when i got there again, Lohse said we should keep the phoenix cause its better like that or something
so yeah, the dice fucked you there
You literally didn't miss any interesting content.
i-is there really sex scenes in this game? is there cute boys and girls I can fuck? I've been wanting to play this for the longest but not sure if I will like the combat.
This and romance sebille for SCALED.com
Some of their attitudes on decisions are random, but if they follow or challenge you for Godwoken is determined by your standing with them. Only if they don't like you enough does the dice roll come into play with a speech check.
...
Is it just me or did she really want to fuck Lohse at times? I played Lohse as a PC in my last playthrough and man, it felt weird as shit.
its a great game but i didnt want bg3 to be like it, oh well
>The good doctor
>The vault
>The toymaker
>The dorfs
There's plenty of good shit in Act 4. Only act that is really lackluster is act 3.
>Why the fuck didn't you tell me this game was so fucking good
Divinity is quite literally one of the most circlejerked games in the history of Yea Forums, I can't think of any other game that that sentence would apply less to.
its all narrative, nothing explicit, so when you get there, just close your eyes and imagine what the narrator is telling
The toymaker? It's been a while but wasn't that just one single fight in one single building that didn't actually amount to anything?
well, not sexually, just screw her life and eat her soul
is summoner any fun to play? reading around and seems like you are limited to one summon and there is only one really worth considering. If i want to experiment a bit with skills and build should i choose something else?
>Act 4
>I can't think of any other game that that sentence would apply to.
Witcher 3
My first time going through Act 3 I missed like 90% of it because I accidentally skipped the entire section through the shortcut kek
There is A sex "scene" for each of the romanceable companions, but seeing as you can only romance one and the scene only comes at the very end of the game, I wouldn't go in expecting to be doing any Witcher shit and banging women left and right because you won't be. Also it's text-only, and while it's more...descriptive than most games dare to get with their sex scenes, it's also narrated by an old dude.
yeah, you can only know later what happened by talking to the survivors of your team
It's single area but it did amount to something. You can get him to give you the answer to the lever puzzle in the path of blood(which is fucking hard to deduce without him IIRC).
you're forgetting about the lizard whore
i remember fucking her with beast and was really hillarious
Eh, Witcher 3 gets a lot of love but also a lot of hate. The only shitposting DivOS gets is from butthurt obsidiots.
I don't remember a lizard whore? You mean Red's waifu or someone else?
It's quite short even if you do it all. You can probably 100% act 3 in less than 5 hours.
Sort of. Each companion has a scene. You also get soul-fucked by a succubus in act 2. There's also a lizard prostitute in the same act but I forgot if she has a scene or it's just a fade to black thing. All scenes are narrated by an old storyteller guy.
>It's the most circlejerked game in history!
>But the only shitposting is from people who hate the game
Whut
I'm so sick of soul. Can't you describe something you like without using flavor of the month meme words?
Nah there's rarely any threads of divinity because it's recognized as baby's first rpg
Fucking her with Fane is even more hilarious.
No there's a literal Lizard prostitute you can fuck in act 2. You can even do it with Fane which is the most hilarious shit.
that would be soulless.
the lizard whore in the pub in driftwood, you had to talk to the waiter and convice him to let you go with her
Definitely if you know about everything beforehand, maybe even closer to 3-4 hours.
i remember fane gaining some flesh in the companion sex scene through source fuckery but how does he even fuck the lizard whore?
No way. It may be boring, but Arx is pretty big.
Ah I must have missed that or just not cared enough to bother.
Also, there's some REALLY egregiously bad writing in this game.
>Witch in the cave
>If you go talk to her, no matter what dialogue options you choose (even the ones to attack on the spot) all allow her to do that fucked up shit where she makes out with you and makes you swallow bees because it happens in the dialogue no matter what
>The objectively best answer is just to sneak attack her without talking at all, but THAT TRIGGERS HE DIALOGUE TOO.
Who does this?
the lizard whore fades to black, but the previous talk is funny
and the succubus only kiss you with tongue
With his bone, duh.
>witch in cave that makes you swallow bees
huh? i must have missed that cause i dont remember anything like it, i thought you were talking about windego for a moment but she doesnt make me swallow bees
>Who does this?
Shit developers
Witcher 3 is much more divisive yes
There is very little shitposting about Divinity
Act 3 is Nameless Isles, act 4 is Arx.
IIRC you gotta wear a shapeshifter mask [Spoiler] but when you wake up you find out it's a ruse to rob people naked(literally) so they take all your equipment and gear and freak out because you become an exposed skelly[/Spoiler]
describe the scene and previous talk pls
You bone her. She has a thing for skellyboys.
It's a kiss, physically, but then the narrator goes into detail how you soul-fuck. There's talk of red-hot thrusting, and you get either a soul point or a skill book as a reward.
dude, how the fuck did you messed up the spoiler tag?
>Act 3 is Nameless Isles
That's not an act, retard.
Probably because outside of the meme combat there's no depth to divinity at all
So what action is really going with each of the characters? Oral? Missionary?
I'm not interested in any vanilla shit.
You fade to black her.
roleplaying that picture dialog with beast was even funnier
>so you've come to water my flowers?
What the hell are you talking about?
>oh, i see, you want to go right to action
*grumbles and strip naked*
It's incredibly vague vanilla shit that should have never even been in the game.
I vaguely recall how Sebille may or may not suck you off, because there's something about her reading your memories as she tastes you. None of it is explicit, all implied.
it is, you dipshit
retard
Lohse is kinda vanilla, but she does force you to finger her first
It literally is.
>fag that wanted scatporn so he could eat beast steamy and hairy logs
It isn't. Nor is the little demon isle in act 1. Nor is the lighthouse where you meet the flashback witch.
The game has three acts. The nameless isle is not one of them.
whoever wrote is a retard cause the game explicitly tells you arx is act 4
No sex scenes > terrible sex scenes, dumb coomer.
me light oil with fire
me tactician!
does this game strongly favor the magical classes? i've always played as a fighter type during nwn1 and nwn2 times, and many other games. but whenever i see this game or BG 3 they always show off how magic interacts with everythign etc. can one realistically play a fighter class? i understand that my companions might be mages just like in nwn2 tho
Yeah, I'm sure you know better than the people who made the game.
>the game explicitly tells you arx is act 4
- Dude T. Mebro.
alright
you're only a true tactician if you keep sir lora alive till the end in the highest difficulty
Yes. I played it for a little while. I didn't like it very much desu.
Physical more easily out damages magical, but magical has versatility and environment control. Some recommend going all in on one of the two, but that's a meme strat. A balanced party is key.
You can play it full fighter/rogue/archer and do quite well, they're all powerhouses. Some of their abilities are pure martial while some have a flair of magic but they're all melee focused.
Ok genius, explain what's different about the nameless isle from the other acts without a meme answer.
I managed to keep Lora alive oil blob fight but honestly my keep Lora alive run got to tedious after that and I gave it up.
i just hate it that almost every part based RPG give one of the first companions this bland tanking guy (Alistair in Dragon Age for example), and I really like playing fighter \ tank as a main character (even in WOW i played a warrior tank). ok, hope it's not too swayed into the magical stuff (although i do remember having a couple of casters in nwn2 party as massive nukers)
i just disliked the videos i saw of BG3 for that reason. it's like the devs are "play as a magic user! it's so fun!" all the time.
cheers
>does this game strongly favor the magical classes?
Fuckin' NOPE. Physical scaling is so, so much easier due to the fact that it only requires one single stat which is Warfare. Warfare is so fucking good that it makes both Rogues AND Rangers ridiculous damage monsters, but Rangers are the absolute killers because they also get abilities that not only scale off the physical damage Warfare gives, but also get percentage multipliers based on height and range. So all you need to do is pump Warfare and have your Ranger jump up somewhere higher than his enemy and then blast them for nearly infinite damage.
Hell, even the base Fighter's Shield Toss ability scales off both Warfare AND the base defense of the shield used, so you can essentially chunk through enemy's physical armor defense one one shot. It's nuts.
Magic has some great utility but that's basically just because it's mandatory to heal and use Tornado to remove the infinite quantities of Necrofire you're going to be swimming through late in the game.
I've sourced the statement it isn't. Larian does not consider it one: it is not. If you want me to jump through any more hoops for you, why don't you show me "the game explicitly telling you arx is act 4" already?
There is a girl I am firing into who is into shit like neverwinter and divinity os.
She mentioned co oping one of them with me.
What am I in for?
Every single character can be any class, you pick when they join you, plus you can get any companion 1 hour into the game.
You can tell each companion what class they should be, so they can be your protag's buff-sluts while you go destroy shit. You can also use a respec mirror to reallocate stats and skills whichever way you want.
>i just hate it that almost every part based RPG give one of the first companions this bland tanking gu
You can actually tell all of the party members to be whatever you want them to be when they join you. They will say "Hey I can do this, this and this. Which do you prefer?" so none of them are technically locked to any one specific class. For example, Ifan can easily be a Ranger, a Hydro magic user, an Earth magic user, or something else.
There are grenades and special arrows that you can find and craft, they simulate the magical effects really nicely, but not to the extent of normal magic classes. You also get some inherent magical skills as you progress that uses a special resource, so even if you're melee you kind of get magic, even though it's melee based magic. Also, mass crafting magic scrolls is piss easy. Just pick what you think is interesting and go with it. I do recommend having at least a dedicated hydromancer, since the support hydros give out in terms of healing and enemy harrassment is god tier
gay sex with a black dude
>There is a girl I am firing into
This is the weirdest way of phrasing that I've ever heard.
thanks a lot for the answer! that;s really cool to hear! as much as i like well written pre-designed characters, having a fully customizable party is very cool. one of many reasons i like Dragon's Dogma so much (although they are different beasts entirely)
I think the armor system would have been better as a mix between armor and mana, where you can allocate your armor/magic armor to different attacks increase their effect
its pretty good but some stuff drag it down
>COMBAT EVERYWHERE
>you need to do EVERYTHING or your lvl wont be high enough for the forced battles, this turns the entire game into a scavenger hunt for XP
>stealing is still OP and almost required if you want all skills and to keep up your equip updated
>speaking of which lvled loot makes your unique legendary sword useless a couple levels later
>warfare is the best skill and required in every character if you want to minmax
im kinda hyped for BG3 because it looks like its gonna be a Divinity game properly balanced, just hoping they fix initiative
I'm not him, I'm asking you what is the actual difference between the areas. When people say Act 3, they're talking about the Nameless Isle and there's no reason to think otherwise.
Also your source doesn't even have a date. For all we know that quote might have been pre-release.
It's a redeeming feature. The game has lots of problems, but it's built around the idea that there's tons of skills and combos in the game and they don't expect anyone to just be satisfied with one, and experimenting with them is a big thing so they give a lot of flexibility as far as builds and party comp goes.
You can play solo if you want, there's special skills and buffs that work if you have one or no other party members and just play by yourself.
Used in UK, well at least Scotland.
Stealing in this game was fun but also boring. By the end of the game I was just raiding people's inventory for thousands of gold for no reason.
Ah yeah. I've never been to Ireland so I wouldn't know.
Right, you can't. There's nothing stating or indicating that to be the case.
It's about a tenth the size, never gets called one, and patently is not an act, as Larian have stated.
>Also your source
That's a random cropped image, you retard. That's not a source. If you want to find the source, google it.
Probably fun times for an hour or so, then you'll both drop your save because arranging consistent play times is just about impossible for some reason. If she knows anything about the game already, she may pull a few pranks on you. Be careful of stuff magically landing in your inventory.
Scotland =/= Ireland ya dunce
They have their own presets which make sense in lore, like the Skelly is preset as a default wizard. When you recruit them they all say what they are and follow it up by "but I'm pretty much good for whatever" and you can pick, which also gives you some funny lines sometimes. Like you can tell the wizard it's ok, tell him you'd rather have a fighter in which case he says something along the lines of "you're wasting my talents but whatever" or tell him you would actually prefer him to be a wizard(even thought he already is one) in which case he basically calls you a retard.
Name one difference.
What? No they're not. They're just two names for the same place, which is England.
That reminds me, what ever happened to the DM mode the game added? I remember they did a D&D-style livestream event once that basically kicked off their partnership with WotC but did anyone ever actually use it outside of that?
Game is fun as shit. Did co-op with a friend. Made some choices throughout the game that had hilarious consequences. Ended up getting the worst ending.
Ireland consists entirely of tims aka fenian bastards aka scum.
Whereas Scotland is a combination of tims and huns.
whoops perpetuating the scottish retard stereotype
DM mode does exist and it is functional as far as I know, but nobody uses it. Maybe because it's already tough enough to get a full party together, but an entirely different challenge to get a full party AND a DM who can set up and manage a whole adventure. Which is a shame.
>tenth the size
Only compared to Act 2.
Also it's fucking mandatory and there's a major questline there as well as sidequests and like 5 or 6 different subareas. It's a fucking Act.
>i-it's not a source it's just a random image!
>btw I'm treating it as a source for my argument
Actual retard.
Arguably casters don't really reach their shining superstar status until you play with Lone Wolf characters and get all the associated bonuses. On the other hand martials will always just LOL PRES BUTAN BOOM CRIT KILL. As the other user said, Shield Throw is particularly retarded but it's also necessary because a sword and board character without it would be entirely useless.
It seems like such a weird thing to spend time adding though. Like, I don't know who they expected to use it, but somehow I feel like they really did think that with a marketing push behind them they could convince mass amounts of people to use fucking Divinity OS2 as a replacement for things like Roll20, which is absurd.
I don't know, it seems like such wasted effort.
Well it was stretch goal.
It was a noble effort, I think. Nwn struck gold when they did it and rallied together this huge modding community that churned out a ton of great player made content. Maybe nwn's toolset was just better and easier to use, but nothing like it has been made since. A good toolset can keep a game alive for a long time.
And one. And three.
>Also it's fucking mandatory
Ok?
>It's a fucking Act.
Take it up with Larian. Maybe they'll make it one, just for you, if they ever get around to remaking the game.
>>i-it's not a source
Yes. You can easily find it, but if you think a random unsourced screenshot is one in itself, you're an incorrigible retard. Well, more of one.
If BG3 is so hated, why can't a single BG3 trailer or cinematic opening video hit anywhere near 1k dislikes? Youtube like/dislike ratios are usually easily the first place to rally to for angry mobs whenever a company pulls some retarded stunt.
Ok, kid. While everyone else is calling it Act 3, you keep your little saved quote image handy so you can sperg out in every thread.
