No, we are not "delusional".
We wanted a faithful recreation of the JRPG classic the FF7 was. Not yet another dumbed down action game carrying the classic's name.

P5, DQ11, Octopath ... we've gotten a number of great, classic-style JRPGs in the past couple years alone, that all provided a new twist and extra tactics to the gameplay loop, and were widely acclaimed to boot.

nuff7 is kino

I hope they never remake ff9 the HD version is enough remake for me thanks

This. Thank god for the AI Upscalers too.

>P5, DQ11, Octopath
Are all bad.

I'm just happy I can play a based nigger trying to blow up evil power plants and stick it to the man.

ff7re is how it was meant to be played. the only reason turn based exist is because of tech limitations.

Being a contrarian, that's what bad.

You should continue to complain until they put in an entire additional turn based mode, separate from the action gameplay.

>P5
shitty anime school simulator with boring turn based gameplay
>DQ11
same shit since NES days with boring turn based gameplay
>Octopath
ugly "retro" style with maybe actual twists that made battles fun for maybe first 5 hours but ultimately still boring turn based gameplay

Absolutely false.
For starters, none of the original devs worked on this Demake.
Second, JRPGs are still one of the most popular games on this planet, for a reason.
Not everyone needs to be ADHD hack&slash shit. There's a plethora of other genres and play-styles that appeal to different audiences.

If anything, this new combat system has already caused major damage: the fights are clearly restricted to these "combat arena" rooms, that are plain obvious empty spaces.

Bet you're the bloke who wrote all this earlier.

Context: I played the demo 9-10~ hours ago, running on 3.5 hours of sleep shortly after wake-up. If I can grasp all this in one playthrough, you all should too.

>Things cost atb
Resource management in a RPG OH NO /s Its not like old FF7 had you managing health, mana, LB, ATB....oh wait.
Not to mention skills and items cost ATB in the OG one as well. Regular attacks are free99.

>Barrets damage is bad
Someone didnt hold attack long enough or use Overcharge.
He does decent damage, + ranged to boot. It charges passively as well; ideally, you'd let it regen to 60-70%, pop it to boost, pop it again immediately to use. Not hard.
Also thematically, makes sense for Barrett to be a bit weaker than Cloud at this point: He was kind of shit at this point in OG as well.

>Rolls/Blocks do nothing
They do.
Im guessing this idiot played Cloud, put on Punisher mode, and tried to block ranged shit. The game EXPLICITLY TELLS YOU that Punisher cannot block Ranged/Magic.
When I blocked mooks, their damage numbers dropped. Blocking works.
I'd presume roll does as well, but I didn't experiment much with it yet.

>NPC is dumb
Not dumb, but perhaps simple. That said, they had what appeared to be a gambit-esque system in the menu to give them directions/directives, if I wasn't misunderstanding that menu. I'll have to boot it up later a 2nd time n check.

Also, you should be swapping to use special moves/skills. Alternatively, use L2/R2 to command then to spend built ATB.

>locked in animation
I personally never had that issue, and outside of here haven't heard any mentions/reports of this.

Ya don't "have to" switch characters constantly, but it is definitely
O P TI M A L E F F I C I E N C Y for some characters to be managed like that.
Personally tho, I also dont mind it cause it takes all of like 2 seconds n its not like a RTS where 40% of ur playtime is hoping between units/groups or some shit.

Attached: unknown (16).png (1081x143, 28K)

>IP count didn't go up
HMMMM

FF7 was never turned base in the first place
So yes you ARE delusional

Not false tho. Some of the leads who worked on 7 OG worked on AC. They explicitly said that the movement and combat in AC was how they envisioned 7's combat to be, if the tech had existed.

It doesn't take a genius to realize that FF13 trilogy, FF15, and even KH3 were clearly just experiments and practice to refine a system that can (in their eyes) do AC justice from a game standpoint.

Roll doesn’t grant iframes, it’s more of a positioning tool than a dodge.

>"press circle to evade"
>take damage anyway
>sometimes it's less than perfect blocks

stop spamming then

Attached: heres your (You).png (344x160, 5K)

>popular for a reason
Yes the reason is waifus

>restricted to combat area
So you can move freely in JRPGs?, didn’t know my bad
>empty spaces
As you can see in my picture this is a very detailed background with a lot of hidden details and particle effects

Show hand nig

Attached: 355E75E0-4D25-4989-8A0C-A1305D8BA427.gif (245x400, 879K)

No, I didn’t want that at all.

>depth
Yeah, the enemy health pools look pretty deep. What a chip damage waiting shitfest.

You can quee actions like ATB uses and magic without changing the character

Ah. Still has use then; use it to learn positioning timings so you can roll to maximize time spent damaging and minimize walking time :/

Well yeah, all your real damage comes from spending ATB, you aren’t meant to just sit there and just wail away with the normal attacks, though there’s nothing stopping you from playing that way if you want.

t. too retarded to learn simple mechanics
video.twimg.com/ext_tw_video/1234495589427142658/pu/vid/1280x720/CdUo-PhKN4oRvWjH.mp4
here's what real gameplay looks like

Yes. I know. I said that. The only thing you cant queue is Overcharge, Punisher/Operator, and I presume other triangle mechanics.

FFVIIR is less different from the original than people think.

The whole point of ATB was to be more "thrilling" than pure turn-based. The real-time element added more tension. It only makes sense that the remake would push that further, now that technology has advanced.

Now instead of waiting for a meter to fill, you fill it yourself using basic attacks. The "attack attack attack" spam problem of ATB has been re-contextualized, and now the other abilities have been placed in a higher tier and given more power/functionality. Character switching is similar to FFXII but characters are way more distinct, and you can use L2/R2 to command the party without having to switch perspectives. The way guarding works is pretty similar to Lightning Returns. The one thing that does push FFVIIR more towards action is the dodge, but I don't expect that the game will be demanding on the player's reflexes.

It's systems on top of systems, most of which are a continuation of mechanics from previous games.

turn based combat peaked with FFX, and ATB peaked with X-2.
It's been all downhill from there.

Attached: 106220740-displeased-mature-man-refusing-stretching-hands-to-camera-over-grey-background-i-do-not-wa (450x300, 10K)

This is something that bugged me, makes me wish they’d bring back gambits.

Note, I'm not being facetious. If you don't like something you should let the designers know about it.

Not liking it doesn't make it bad. A lot of fucklesticks on here are equating "I dont like it" to "this is shit"

I think it's more that people have different standards for different gameplay styles. The remake clearly wants to bled action elements with classic RPG menu systems, which is cool. But when you make an action game most people are going to be looking for a little more meat than two variations of mashing on the square button. I know it's just the opening 30 minutes of the game, so I hope things get fleshed out a bit more or else this whole action game reimagination is going to get boring really fast

It's not actually an action game. It's most definitely a hybrid. How you use your abilities and manage your party will probably be way more important than how well you dodge/guard.
You shouldn't let labels ruin your experience.

ok I literally didn't know about moguri downloading now will this change my life

Like I mentioned, I saw some menu in the menu system that, at least from its description, seemed to imply to me that we have some sort of gambit-esque system to manage characters.

Think I tried diving into it but it was basically look but dont touch, like 90% of menu.

turn-based allow you to completely control every actions of all your party members. It can be still relevant if executed well

>Some of the leads who worked on 7 OG worked on AC
You're literally playing yourself now.
And AC is the pinnacle of cringe.

Bullshit, people have wanted a more action orientated 7 since Advent Children

I love the combat system as it is, it is what I always dreamed FF Versus (and then XV) would be. But does anyone else fears that the final game will be a series of hallways, and that the game will last 60 hours because there are a lot of cutscenes? I mean, it is just a demo, but I cant stop thinking it will have less exploration than DQXI, for example.

I wonder how many of you faggots have actually played the original.
>Did a 100% run a few weeks ago
>Most of the time was wasted farming enemy skills
Some monsters have a retarded spawn rate and most skills are completely useless

Attached: Fuck these guys.png (640x480, 146K)

It's worse than XV

I just hope there will be fewer cutscene interruptions after the intro. There needs to be some good long sequences of uninterrupted gameplay.

I don't believe you got 100% on ff7 that's a mind numbing slog I have attempted it many times and sacked off the shit parts when it came to them

>the only reason turn based exist is because of tech limitations.

Attached: 1286539096953.jpg (257x196, 8K)

100% minus master materias, fuck that, aside from that is really not that bad

>turned base

I never wanted that
I just wanted a remake with fun combat, could have been turn based or action

And i got it

Then it is not 100% (but I dont blame you).
The combat is fine, if you want the traditional turn based combat you still have the original game to replay it as much as you want
Also, Im on the same page as this user , it seems like it will be less exploration than what they made it out to be when they decided to focus only on Midgar. I guess they are waiting for PS5 to open up the overworld for part 2.

My only nitpick is that I kept changing stances when I tried to open the action bar with Triangle, which is my fault anyway.

Lock-on also didn't feel totally solid, but maybe I'm playing too much Zelda.

The first boss basicaly forces you to use magic.

why are all of the reviews of the demo on youtube so heavily shilling for this shit? Disgusting.

It's pretty and has brand appeal.

>invisible walls literally everywhere
feels like im back in FF13, desu

It's even worse than the original game in that regard.

FF 9 doesn't really need it, 7 is ugly as fuck with those chibi shit models

>20 seconds of buttonmashing to stagger a low level encounter
>another 15 seconds of mashing against an enemy that's not fighting back
A better game would let the player kill that enemy in five hits. Stagger is dumb input bloat, there's nothing more skilled or engaging about how it plays out.

7 also wasn't good either.

Combat just feels terrible. Characters just do whatever they want to do sometimes, and it's not fun.

at least this cured me of my need for a ff6 remake

I understand how combat works it's just dogshit

Ah yes action gameplay is so braindead.. now pressing a button to watch a cutscene that's REAL gameplay

Attached: 1583183519918.webm (640x360, 2.29M)

zoom zoom zoom

>we

Both blocking and dodging are fucking useless, at least in the demo. The main problem of the game is the stagger gauge that artificially makes every single battle several times longer than it should've been. It's FF XIII or Xenoblade tier bad.

This. All the waiting for an ATB gauge to fill to do anything is a little archaic. Remake is an improvement bc it streamlines the 'waiting to attack' portion. You still have your menus, your "time for strategy" & it's leagues above the Hold O to win in XV.

>Characters just do whatever they want to do sometimes
If only SE had developed a mechanic that allowed the player to determine how CPU controlled party members behaved in specific combat scenarios. They could call it... the gambit system.

True. Only thing people liked was materia and story. Everything else can be changed up because it was already shit in the original. Especially gameplay

The seethe from this post is extraordinary

Cope.

hits that hard huh

Attached: eben maymay.jpg (531x531, 20K)

Why do sweepers have as much health as Bottomswell from the original game? Is it just a demo thing?

uwu daddy

>we
The only thing special about VII’s combat was limit breaks and materia.

Cock licking retards still don't realize all you have to do is spam square in punisher mode/focused thrust/magic to build the stagger bar. Wow so much thinking, much gameplay

>original is 60fps
>demake is 30fps

Attached: 2643445 - K-On! Mio_Akiyama PatrickDJA.jpg (1996x3480, 578K)

My main question is why you idjits judging off of a fucking demo. Wait till the release at least...

I did just fine on final boss without magic. You have to actually utilize the stagger/pressure system, not just willy nilly spam attacks.

>invisible walls
Ah yes. Invisible. I too remember when construction and iron fences were invisible.

You shouldn't be mashing....you do your basic attacks, stack up your ATB, wait for PRESSURE, then blow your load. Elemental weaknesses then general skills.
Literally a video linked up in thread that shows someone staggering a major enemy in like 10-15 seconds or so.

Or maybe you just didnt take time to read and understand how it works.

WHIRRRRRRRR

Attached: 20200303_090713.png (1921x1080, 1.36M)

>original is 60fps
Nigga, no it isn't.

7 remake is shit

>>original is 60fps
>>demake is 30fps
You never played the original ff7

Attached: 1568064125817s.jpg (204x250, 5K)

>Literally a video linked up in thread that shows someone staggering a major enemy in like 10-15 seconds or so.
...What did you think I was commenting on? I counted. 20 seconds to stagger (stagger is not the same as the enemy going limp, in the latter it's still taking chip damage). And it's not a major enemy, unless the remake changed that too. The video is supposed to be "good" gameplay but it's literally just mashing attack until stagger, then more mashing and some power moves at the end that in the original FFVII would have oneshot the same enemy.

Boomershits just want to complain for the sake of complaining
The original FF7 doesn't even qualify as a game, any change is an objective improvement

Attached: 1583180783691.webm (1920x720, 2.87M)

bro /v will bitch about anything i really enjoyed the remake i just hope they make it easier to skip cutscenes on future playthroughs, but its gorgeous, fun, and what every game should aspire to be. not an arpg but a pretty and fun game.

Attached: comic book guy.jpg (490x368, 24K)

easy peasy

Attached: trollface.jpg (640x640, 46K)

>If only SE had developed a mechanic that allowed the player
If only they let me fucking jump.

The actual battle times are identical (12 seconds for both), the difference is that the remake doesn't load into encounters and doesn't have opening or closing cinematics. It's a hardware improvement not a design one.

Everything has more HP as you're generally constantly attacking.

>cutting out 90% of the game addind fetch quests bloat and padding and claim it's a full game.

>mashing
you have no idea what you're talking about

You couldn't even run in town screens in the original FFVII without holding down an extra button. Did they fix that for any of the rereleases by the way? Because I fucking hated that shit.

Still more than the OG lmao

Okay, "carefully executing a specific string of timed inputs". Now address the rest of what I wrote.

I went in thinking I'd hate ff7r combat because I hated 15 and khs but I'll be dammed I liked it a lot. I just want more control over your ai party members, it's crazy 12 figured out how to do real time ai party members and Sq never copied it

>We wanted a faithful recreation

No one but retards wanted something so utterly pointless as this.

I bet you're mad about the RE2 and RE3 remakes for being different too.

Attached: 1450540981201.gif (300x236, 2.85M)

What if I don't like either? Regardless, it doesn't matter whether or not an RPG is turn-based or action-oriented, so long as it has depth. I just don't like generalizing a certain genre (sub-genre in this case) of games as being bad, which in retrospect was me projecting.

the sweepers and shock troopers are noticably stronger and have more hp than the other enemies in the demo
why don't you shut the fuck up and play the fucking game before you give your worthless opinion

Then FFVII isn't for you and it's time to stop participating in threads dedicated to FFVII.

The same people that argue OG combat was too slow or waiting for input is stupid are probably unable to wait for the toaster to finish.

The rough template for party AI management existed as early as Kingdom Hearts 1 (and was maintained in 2, also released before XII), possibly earlier but I haven't played every 90s Squaresoft title under the sun so I can't say for sure.

>ff7
>just hold O until you win
Was 7 as bad as XV all along?

Just equip Long Range you baby.

>people think an old press demo from last year is easy
Were you retards born yesterday and have never played a press demo in your entire lives?
They are intentionally made easier for journalists for events so they can actually progress through the demo and report on what they saw. If they get stuck and can't progress then they have little to report on and will basically just say "It was too difficult".

Jesus christ, do you fuckers even play videogames?

Attached: 1319320409197.jpg (212x204, 7K)

I can do what I want. I'm just here for the fire.
The only thing slow about FF7 is the battle load times.

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 78K)

Gameplay wise the remake demo is way more shallow than XV.
>the Hold O to win in XV.
This is the reason XV is garbage. You can do a lot of stuff but the enemies are brain dead so why even bother? Switching between holding block and mashing attack isn't that much of an improvement either. SE just can't make a good "action FF game".

>Yea Forums already forgot about Cuphead
Sad

Sorry zoomer, you missed the golden age of gaming

>Gameplay wise the remake demo is way more shallow than XV.

Even from looking at a trailer I doubt that.

XV was the easiest and most brain dead game I've ever played.
Absolutely impossible to die. Even if you ended up dying because you fell asleep playing it, then you could easily revive your allies or have some OP summon swoop in and save your ass.
Combat consisted exclusively of spamming a single button 95% of the time and then just warp striking or crouching behind rocks.
The only time the combat changed up is when you got that dumb ring in chapter 13 or the fuck it was, which was even more boring and simple.

>Nanaki/Red 13 won't be playable in Part 1, and unknown for Part 2

Attached: 107.jpg (600x584, 29K)

>i wanted red to maybe be playable for 3 minutes right near the end

Just played the demo. Combat was a little stiff and dodge roll is pretty useless, but other than that it was better than I expected. Bantz and dialogue were also far better than I expected. Hopefully Nomura don't fuck with things too much since he's a raging faggot now. If it wasn't split up into 3 games I'd definitely be buying it on release, but I might still get it used.

Out of curiosity, how did they translate the line where Barret jokes about Cloud's age in English? I played it in moon and the joke they used seems like a bitch to translate and keep funny.

Apparently he will be a 4th slot "guest character" controlled by AI. They felt it wouldnt be fair to let you play him so close to the end, as you "wouldnt get a feel for him or his playstyle in so short a time".

No confirmation of playability in 2, but god I hope so X:

>XV was the easiest and most brain dead game I've ever played.
And were did I said it wasn't?
I said it has way more mechanics and stuff to do in combat that you will never use because the AI is retarded and the game doesn't even tell you in the first place. Maybe with the Materias the remake can be good but right now the combat is worse than XV.

>where*

>"wouldnt get a feel for him or his playstyle in so short a time".
What they meant to say was "we want to blueball you so you'll buy part 2".

He estimated Cloud to be 20s, Cloud took it literal n thought he meant rank, and clarified as such.

Barrett said he meant age, called Cloud a dumbass, and then joked about "unless maybe rank is age for you soliders, so I gues you're one year old heh" or somethng to that effect

What the fuck do you mean, unknown for part 2. They better make the entire core cast playable.

>>FF7 was mashing attack
Correct, but you can say this for pretty much all FF.
>>FF7R offers depth
Wrong, options that ultimately don't matter never amount to depth.
Depth isn't about how many options you have, but how many of those options are actually relevant.

It wasn’t so much a joke as Barret saying for all he knows SOLDIERs ranks could be the same as their age, so for all he knows he could be working with a 1 year old.

The interview I saw that mentioned it said they weren't asking about Part 2, and that we had no information on if they'd be making him playable in part 2.

You'd think/hope so but who knows :V Dont think they'd be so stupid as to cut him or other main characters off permanently. Likely was a part 1 appeasement to avoid wonkines....I hope.

Part 2 may not even reach Junon. You won't even get Yuffie.

You do know that the battle runs at 15 fps, the camera runs at 30 fps, and the UI runs at 60 fps?

It was even worse on the PC version since it was all locked to 15 fps.

>remake combat is bad
>it's okay though because the original combat was bad too
You are braindead fucking retarded. Everyone's standards were a lot lower 20 fucking years ago, no shit, but now your game actually needs to be fun.

what was the joke in nip

In moon, Barret just asked him how old he was but Cloud thought he was asking about his rank (since in moon you omit words and what he literally said was "how many") so Cloud said "First". Then they cleared it up, and Barret said "I guess we'll go with 1 year old for you age then." and made fun of him. The English version sounds pretty lame.

the combat is garbage

>the nearly identically translated joke sounds lame
shut the fuck up you retarded weeaboo

Attached: 970.jpg (501x689, 94K)

It’s the same joke really, he asks “what are you, twenty something?” and Cloud responds with First, then Barret makes the same 1 year old joke.

Pretty sure PC version was 15fps in battles and 30fps in the overworld and UI elements were tied to those framerates, while PS1 had 60fps UI always. All ports are based on the old PC version so UI is still 15/30 fps even if you're playing on PS4

>thinking 1:1 translated jokes are ever funny in their delivery
>being an angry EOP
Yikes.

>Not knowing both languages
>"Yeah it sounds the same"

Nah, Japanese misunderstanding/double meaning jokes are never funny in English because those sorts of misunderstandings don't ever really happen. They're funnier in moon because the language is stupid and those kinds of things actually happen a lot, so it feels less contrived.

Just how many parts will there be?

Shut the fuck up. No one cares about your opinions you braindead moron.

>cloud being such an autist he thinks barret is asking about his rank isn't funny
like I said you're a retarded weeaboo

Attached: tbph.png (670x444, 250K)

The EOPs are extra uppity now.

Oh boy, another game that's going to be impossible to discuss here because people start shitting their pants in anger at the sight of it so you have one side unable to take anything positive about it and the other side being pissed at the shitposters ruining discussion so you can't say anything negative about it. Good job retards.

Attached: 1431117609945.jpg (300x226, 17K)

>cloud being such an autist
Which doesn't make sense given that he's characterized as being alert and aware about everything so far. He's curt, but he's not autistic. He even flirts with Jessie while they're running away from an explosion instead of sperging out on her. But hey, if you want to pretend that random bouts of autistic stupidity are better jokes, then be my guest.

>The English translations are FINE!
I forgot how much normalfag trash FF7 attracted.

How many cocks were you pounded with to think they both sound the same?

why don't you tell me how it's SUPPOSED to be translated then you larping faggots

Attached: 1561715056209.png (1637x1088, 1.31M)

"Tech limitations" is no excuse for turn based garbage.
We've had large scale RTS games since the early 90s, even on consoles, even a few experimental titles on fucking handhelds back then showed a massive amount of shit going on in real time could work just fine.
Sadia Senki on NES was a real time RPG with full field movement and a five character party.

There's no excuse for the garbage that is turn based to continue to exist anywhere other than the Pen&Paper medium. Turn Based is not because of a limitation of tech, but a limitation of developer skill.

Im okay with not sticking with the original ATB combat since ATB is fucking garbage. But that doesnt automatically make the new combat any good.
The combat feels slow n clunky. I honestly wonder how this can be fun after 10hrs of swinging your slow ass sword just hacking away at the same enemies over and over again.
>durr original is a button smasher
The new one seems to be one as well.

Attached: 1560271833443.jpg (200x229, 22K)

>in both languages barret asks his age
>in both languages cloud says first, thinking he meant rank
>in both languages barret calls him a retard and says he must be one year old
>NOOOOOOOO THE ENGLISH VERSION IS SHIT THE MEANING IS COMPLETELY LOST THEY RUINED IT IT'S TOTALLY DIFFERENT

Attached: 1579020815380.png (480x550, 288K)

>how it's SUPPOSED to be translated
You'd have to rewrite it to be an age based joke that doesn't rely on the punchline of "Cloud randomly turns autistic and Barret makes a lame joke about soldier's ranks being their ages" to be funny. Good translation work is a tough balance of keeping as much of the original verbiage there as you can while also not neutering their personality and making them sound like retards. I don't think you're fluent in a single language, let alone multiple ones, so this idea is lost on you.

>cloud
>randomly autistic
why do you care so much about the translation for a game you haven't played

you didn't answer my question
translate the joke correctly

>in both languages barret calls him a retard and says he must be one year old
And in only one of those languages he makes a shitty joke about Soldier's ranks being their age so he can finish it off with the same 1 year old joke.

You must be the same as the other people who think the remake retconned shinra blowing up the reactor

Right, sorry. I forgot that these threads are going to be filled with retards who played a ridiculously bad translation of a PS1 game and then start talking about all the details of the stories and characters because they've convinced themselves the shitty version they played is gospel.

>you didn't answer my question
You asked me how it's supposed to be translated. I explained how it's supposed to be translated. If you don't know any Japanese and clearly don't know much English, why are you arguing about Japanese translations into English?

it's literally the same fucking joke just with a leadup to why he says it
you are fucking autistic and you will never be paid to translate anything

Attached: 1576202530968.png (1095x1072, 1.54M)

To be fair, the remake could have made their bomb look like more than a dollar store firework.

>he actually thinks that isn't a shit retcon
holy fucking shit I am talking to an actually retarded faggot

Attached: DESU.png (640x480, 449K)

We get it. You suck too hard at English to understand nuance or tone and you think that as long as most of the words are the same it's a good translation.

>THE OFFICIAL VERSION ISN'T REAL AND SHIT BECAUSE I SAID SO

Everything else about the remake aside, the one thing it did amazingly was portraying Jessie as the BEST GIRL that she is.

>The official version is the English one and not the Japanese one
>PS1 era jrpgs aren't legendary for having shit translations
Am I getting trolled right now or do people actually think this? What's next? Is the English release of VI the official version of that story, too?

>ad hominem
So you don't know English, Japanese, or Latin. Any other languages you want to demonstrate your inability to understand?

The OG literally tells you how shinra was setting up avalanche and if you actually do side quests you would get even more dialogue about that when going back to midgar.
Holy fuck there are so many people who literally dont know shit about the story and act like they know

You know in the original the reactor explodes as soon as you leave even if your bomb had +5 minutes left? Because Shinra did it.

They did fuck it up in the remake though by suddenly making the bomb blow up even if you had 20 minutes left AND were still in the reactor.

I'm not even going to bother responding until you give me ONE instance of this blatant coping shill "theory" being discussed before this dumbfuck han shot first rewrite got shown in the remake
I know that's impossible for you because you're full of shit so enjoy this last (You) and don't talk about games you haven't played on my board ever again

What the fuck are you talking about? I just gave you a line from the original game. Are you asking me for a screenshot of the Japanese text, because we both know that's just going to end with you pretending that despite not being able to read it that your attempt at a google translate still means the English "translation" is somehow correct.

You’re entitled to being wrong, but okay.

I don't know why journalists are crying.

The depth of FF7 comes from the heavy customization BEFORE the battles, not the battles themselves

This is after dark nation has been killed, dark nation will cast barrier on Rufus which reduces physical attack damage by half.

>jrpgs are some of the most popular games on this place
Yeah maybe for hikikomori coomers, but not for your average player with taste.
Literally the only reason ff7 and other RPGs were turn based was to allow for graphical flair back then without overloading a disc or cartridge. They were working with limits we don't have any more.
Face it, turn based games are doomed to failure from here on out because no one has the time to spam the attack command over and over for obnoxious random encounters and level grind just to bear an overpowered boss.

>Prove you know moon!
>How?
>[caps lock cruise control screaming]
That's about what I expected.

It's actually a good thing that they are spoon feeding info in the remake like how shinra was the one that blew up the reactor. In the OG im 1000% sure majority of people just miss key dialogue simply because it just flies by or it required you to do a side quest

>Cait Sith shits on Barret for his terrorists that killed tons of innocent people st the end of the game

>looool it was always an inside job and this high ranking Shinra exec isn't aware of it!

Remake is not perfect but at least we didn’t end up with a Warcraft 3 refunded type of game

>Shinra sent a memo to all employees about the false flag operation they carried out
I missed that scene.

And even then, this is the same Shinra that would later on drop a sector full of hundreds of people to kill a group of 6.

shinra didn't blow up the reactor in the original you retarded secondary

People who want turn based combat have never actually played a game with good turn based combat (The Last Remnant, Resonance of Fate, BoF Dragon Quarter, Vagrant Story, Eternal Sonata...)

Fact.

Really now, just go google it at this point im not going to waste my time again explaining this to another person who thinks shinra didnt blow it up. I already know what you are thinking "shinra bombed the plate not the reactor hurr durr".

thank you so much for this post based user wish you had warned me not to install the shitty music but this makes the hd remake perfect

My main issue with the demo is Cloud's AI. Literally just stands there blocking absolutely nothing.

>LOL I'M NOT GIVING YOU EVIDENCE GO GOOGLE IT RETARD

Attached: tenor (1).gif (540x302, 1.81M)

Do you think that's some sort of insult? Game translators are fucking garbage at translating and get paid ass. I have a real job, and then get to play Japanese games without relying on shit translations like you do. For your next outburst, try to be more creative than
>N-No! You're a NEET and don't know Japanese!

holy shit my 8yo nephew could beat it

Attached: 1583218493686.jpg (1080x1196, 412K)

My 2 main complaints are:
1) Using an ability and then getting locked into a 2 second wind up animation, then getting slapped during it wasting the ability
2) Certain enemies can combo you and the inability to get out of stunlock is really frustrating. In a better action game the pacing would allow for you to rebound after but all the loves in FF7 feel like they have so much wind up that any stunlock is extra frustrating.

I’m totally fine with people complaining that Remake should have had even more combat depth, but when I see people say the original had better combat I can’t help but laugh (and the original is my favorite game of all time).

The combat is literally brain-dead in the original, except for LITERALLY 4 fights, 2 of which require very specific strategies that are hard to discover on your own and don’t allow you to deviate much from them.

here is a much needed reality check for you guys

>cover doesn't say it's only part 1 of 20

>game translations are shit
>trust me I downloaded duolingo I know japanese bro

Attached: see_ya.png (128x128, 16K)

Are people mad at the combat actually having options and versatility? That was the saving grace of it. The movement felt a little stiff and dodge rolling doesn't give you iframes or get away from much, so you really need to use all the other stuff if you actually want to beat enemies. It wasn't even hard in the demo, just use weaknesses when they're in HEAT mode, use Barret to heal, and then use guard and counter for the dodging enemies for an easy win.

>Game translators are fucking garbage at translating
There are no game translators, there's localizers, and localizers aren't translators.
Besides, while it is true they pay ass and have even worse work ethics, the fact is nobody cares about actual translation works (for obvious reasons), which is why you get localizations instead.

>these new ARPG battle systems take longer than turn based

Attached: 1571778675159.gif (286x258, 3.63M)

>Sadia Senki on NES
Not a real game

The lack of fast recovery moves, long hitstun time and inability to dodge cancel out of damn near anything is pretty annoying. I'd rather the enemies just hit harder, but you be able to move around their attacks better, but I guess they're trying to simulate the old game where you really take turns bashing each other. I really hope there's a materia for perfect guarding later in the game. Every real time game needs some sort of perfect guard system.

>game translations are good
>trust me, I only know one langauge

The actual depth of FFVII was outside of battles, like with most Square RPG's. I don't mind the new combat system, but I hope customizing your character the way you want is still a thing (no PS4, so I haven't played the demo)

I was a die hard turn based recreationist. Though having played the demo today I'm still probably going to play it on classic mode but the hybrid action combat they've designed is actually quite fun and complex. It's going to be a lot of fun controlling a full party when you get all the depth of materia summons and limits. I'm glad now it exists.

needs a ps4 on top and nintendo bottom

Did you guys know you can scan enemies in the demo?

All the recovery issues feel like typical of devs who moved from Turn based to action for the first time. I guess it's still better than XVs shit system, but it really makes you want more nuance in the system they've made.

You are overreacting at unknown for part 2, of course it will be

No but somebody mentioned how to do it so I'm going to try it out.

Yes, for more info you'll need the Assess Materia, though. I keep forgetting to press the touchpad at the Scorpion and the Shock Troopers.

The laser section was pretty lame. I'm afraid the game will be full on this like that to pad it out.

It isn't as bad as I thought it would be and that's pretty much all I could hope for with modern Square so I'm pleased. Honestly I'm more displeased with the annoying Sephiroth foreshadowing. Aerith looking up like she's scared when she has absolutely nothing to do with Sephiroth. Cloud seeing that feather. Actually Sephiroth has nothing to do with anything really for a good majority of the intro originally. I really hope they don't shoehorn in random Sephiroth anime encounters that weren't in the original, part of what made him cool originally was following his path of destruction. Zolom spike was kino.

>The actual depth of FFVII was outside of battles
I wish that was true.

>I guess it's still better than XVs shit system
I didn't play through XV, but I do remember playing the demo and being blown away at how bad the combat was, so you're probably right.

That was a moment that made you stop and ask who the fuck designed such a security system. If you want platforming, then add it in properly. Don't half ass it like that.

>can literally infinite combo by simply changing styles mid combo

seems kinda broken

the camera doesn't do verticality well at all

Who is this "we", kimosabe?

So far we know that besides the standard Weapon, Accessory and Materia slot factors, Weapons have upgrade trees resembling XIII's Crystarium system where you upgrade your gear on various paths of abilities and boosts that can allow you to even keep the Buster Sword statistically relevant instead of just dumping it ASAP. Even moreso, weapons can have exclusive ATB abilities, so it can change how you gain Stagger or deal damage.

What I thought the FF7R combat would be : Kingdom Hearts
What the combat actually was: FF15 but without dashes

hes mad because he just cant understand the mechanics
Scorpion is reallyeasy if you know what you are doing, but hes just attacking and healing like a braindead retard

In fact, if you do that cloud tells you "dont just attack, adapt" telling you to use magic, attack now, bla bla.

That’s how Yea Forums dies, not with a bang, but with a wimper of cancerous shilling.

Infinite combo doesn't seem like that much of a game breaker considering the low damage output on basic attacks though. Is there some sort of benefit I missed?

That was dumb but the basic corridor level design was what really turned me off.

Jessie is so cute bros

I don’t want her to die

It's not really comparable to 15 besides "muh button" and the dynamic in and out of battle transitions, and even the former has variable attacks depending on if you hold the button or press it. 15 was all about weapon selection and then mashing damage weaknesses with the occasional 8-style magic grenade tossed in to nuke the field and character skill spam. 7 is honestly about as faithful a conversion to action as you can get for ATB system without being Lightning Returns or X-2.

I thought it was pretty ff7-ish. Remember northren crater to get through the whirlwind maze? think about it as a mini game

Your autism is off the charts my man

I don't really like the camera placement and movement at all. The first fight with Barret and the drones was awful.

I'd prefer a couple new combos, and maybe some ATB consuming abilities you combo into instead of making everything that isn't standard combo a pause menu move.

ESL here. He’s saying you have got to do a lot of things and those things may not be possible at the optimal time.Faggot sucks at time managent

>a pause menu move.
L1 = KH style shortcut menu to use your abilities on the fly

It was fine but I hate how it had to be explained. Like how retarded do they think we are to not recognize and how to respond to lasers.

Yeah but you only get 4 (unless there's multiple shortcut menus like KH) and by the end of the game, you're going to have too many moves and magic to use. Just let me combo into some of them, otherwise most of those moves are probably going to end up unused. It's the issue Sekiro had with it's special moves and you could only map one, so no one ever used most of them.

>people are already having trouble beating the tutorial boss

It isn't even the casual filter of the game, how are these people going to beat motherfucking Carry Armor? Demon's Gate? Materia Keeper?

Listen, Square could have made this a 1:1 remaster with only better graphics, sound, and music, and it really would be the greatest game ever made. Instead they made it a shitty generic even worse version of FFXV and Kingdom Hearts while censoring things and pushing Jessie's horniness and Cloud's stupidity to new heights.

Based and soul, children will never understand why this is the greatest way to play a game.

Jessie being wet for Cloud was great and it's even better now faggot

>Square could have made this a 1:1 remaster with only better graphics, sound, and music, and it really would be the greatest game ever made.
Nah, you would have complaiend the new graphics, sound and music dont have "soul"

>considering the low damage output on basic attacks

that's true I guess

The depth is there, even if it's not TOO deep compared to other games. And it sure made the game a lot better for most players.

so is this game for kh/xv fans? im pretty sure none of the actual ff7 fans are gonna appreciate the changes.

A lot more soul than raping the story and characters and gameplay.

>worse version of XV
nope

>XV fans
probably will like it, an upgrade from what that was
>KH fans
no chance, KH's combat is far more fluid and responsive. 7R feels clunky and outdated by comparison.

Thunder is better used to help staggering enemies rather than to do damage. it gets them into pressured which allows you to stagger way more easily

This is how you use a Stagger system properly.

Attached: 11-6.webm (1280x720, 2.69M)

Max is the biggest corporate shill of all time, that's why he gets privileged access to everything.

I wonder if Bio will do something like build the enemies' pressure bar passively or let you fill it faster with hits, or make them act and react slower or sometimes make them sick which interrupts their movements and attacks.

What did she mean by this?

There has NEVER been a quote saying AC's combat is what they envisioned for og VII. For starters, AC's combat is fucking retarded. It was XIII and XV that were designed to look like AC.

>t. """""""localizer""""""" ergo retard

Weebs are always desperate to justify all the time they wasted learning an irrelevant language.

Just with the basic shit I like the combat. It will take a bit to get used too though.

I enjoy the combat but I don't like how you only see the air combos on flying enemies that're just low enough for Cloud to target.
It'd be great if they gave you a manual air launcher, and maybe some sort of air game (cancelling the last hit of operator mode into punisher mode, then into ATB actions that would work in the air).
I really just wish they embraced the character action aspect more desu.

Attached: 1568260964584.gif (480x270, 3.85M)

she loves anal, you just know

or you know, a jump button

Barret's BBC (Big Bicep-attached Cannon) reaches places Cloud's sword can't.
The little tutorial popup makes that pretty clear, and you can't progress without shooting down those sentries.

yeah, but I think an air launcher would be enough. you already fly straight to enemies by mashing square when you're far enough away, and the rest of the game is built around a lack of a jump button anyway.

youtu.be/YTyEkIPvm4g

next game having a jump button with Tifa will be insane

Reminder that Final Fantasy 7 is an anti-capitalist anti-industrial conservationist game that fundamentally argues addiction to destructive consumption and power makes us unworthy to live on the planet. The fanbase is full of emotionally repressed plebs who ignore this in favor of fujoshi fandom and membership to a bloated ‘compilation’ designed around male modeling and pop-star fashionista appeals. You have ALL forgotten what this game is about, and your interest in it has been abused into a sad act of mindless consumption in place of the cohesive human ethics the original is cherished for invoking.

I feel bad for sad nigga :(

amazing

>kh fag making shit up
not a source

They literally added a mode where you don't have to play the action game to appease you fucks

You get to the sewers pretty quickly in the original too.

>provide source
>ITS NOT A SOURCE
ok you are hopeless

>"Camera directly over my shoulder like im playing FUCKING FORTNITE!"

You heard it folks. Fortnite invented the above-the-shoulder camera angle.

how so?
game has 18 chapters and after the sewer in the original there's only ghost train yard, the plate, wall climb, and shinra hq

Ch10 is over halfway through the game

I was out the moment Cloud saw some black feather flying around and not hearing the voice telling him stuff. Also the spoiler cutsecens about Shinras knowlege and plans so plebs do not have to think later in the game. Absolutly pathetic. Won't buy this "game".

that isn't a valid source, it's a kh fag youtuber

so 5 hour game confirmed

I don't think this remake will have a ''world map'', but just cutscenes - explore new area - cutscenes - jumps to the next area - repeat

but dude

we cant just expect the modern FF fan to understand the idea that clouds actions are not his own

we have to make it obvious

no mystery, no ambiguity just like shinra blowing up the reactor, not avalanche

That could be pretty concerning.

>I was out

and yet here you are replying to 2.5 hour old post

you're trying too hard

This remake is pure trash I fucking hate the combat and all the cinematic crap, this is not a videogame its a movie
I guess Im to old and nobody cares about my opinion but I guess thats fine, Ill be saving some money

hell yeah, sounds like ff7

you're kinda right, but the environmentalist message is a way smaller aspect than people like to think. like the idea that "(capitalists) overconsuming our resources will kill the planet, which will kill us" is present in nearly everything with an environmental message, and FF7's message never advances a step beyond that. Shinra's actions more or less cause Jehovah, Meteor, Sephiroth, etc, but they stop being a force in the plot once those elements are introduced.
it's more of a vehicle for the themes of identity told through the character arcs of Cloud and Sephiroth.

Attached: 1568291511002.jpg (600x825, 64K)

In the one you like the most.

did anyone else find the boss fight tedious? like it wasn't hard it just went on for way too long. I hope the rest of the bosses aren't like this.

Sort of? I really hope the remake connects the cast to Sephiroth more. Because by the time you make your second round to Gold Saucer half the cast really has no reason to continue traveling with Cloud

>Cloud
Has a score to settle with Sephiroth
>Tifa
Is monitoring Cloud and his fragile psyche
>Aeris
Feels a pull to protect the planet from Sephiroth
>Barrett
Just wants to fuck over Shinra
>Red XIII
Traveling because Bugenhagen told him to? He thinks the adventure will help grow as a person I guess?
>Yuffie
Just wants to steal a bunch of materia because she thinks it'll help Wutai get back on its feet...or something
>Cait Sith
Reeve spying on Cloud and co.
>Vincent
Hoping this adventure will bump him into Hojo somehow
>Cid
???? They have the Tiny Bronco I guess?

Huh? What the fuck does that imply lol

is it even going to be an option? it wasnt in the demo

Lol, a very similar thing happened on Charls Carrolls stream. Video games are dead.

I'm old too, but I don't go and hissy fit like a five year old.

>doomies making more assumptions based on hearsay

why so desperate

People also liked FF7 for the Limit break system. It was the first JRPG to do a dedicated special gauge when all the JRPGs before it had desperation attacks trigger on a random chance to activate at low HP.

ign.com/articles/2015/07/30/final-fantasy-7-remakes-combat-will-feature-dramatic-changes-draw-inspiration-from-advent-children

Cant find the quotes right now, but in like an interview or commentary yeaaaaars before FF7R was an idea, there were talking points about how the way they envisioned the combat of 7 was more akin to how AC became, and how they pushed AC a bit for rule of cool and to match those ideas.
But obviously, being the 90s, tech didnt match, so we got semi-turn based ATB system with decent animations.

this ff8 was better

>2discs
why the 2 discs then?
are they going to put in the very end on the second disc?

It feels like it's going to fall into the same trap that XIII did. You essentially deal chip damage outside of stagger and for end game bosses staggering is a rare occurrence but also a necessity.

He made one post dude

took me like 7 minutes tops

Expressing an opinion is having a hissy fit
Ok son ok, I mean I knew posting in FF7R at all is a mistake because its going to be flooded with over sensitive pussies like you that feel personally attacked when one is not praising this turd
So my mistake again I guess

*Jenova, not Jehovah

Yeah, after a while people have their own reasons. I never said Sephiroth was the sole reason and he is just the initial start.

need that TORtanic fix

I said the same thing in the last thread and got called a retard for it and to get good

No, you arent the only one, despite what faggots here might say

They need to work on this stuff period. Not even counting optional characters, Red and Cid's motivation to join the party is incredibly thin. Even Barret's motivation post Midgar is kind of vague.

If staggering in 13 was "rare" to you, you played the game somewhat wrong.

If it's not turned based, menu based combat, then it's not final fantasy. I don't know what this game is but it's no longer a final fantasy game.

definitely not like mako1 was mostly thin long corridors or anything either in the OG. No sir.

Shitting on games is what most of this shithole does.

Didnt mean to quote that second post

Ya dont worry about the retards on Yea Forums, they sperg over nothing.

I personally can't wait for this XV gameplay expansion.

Played this demo in German, English and Japanese now.

Japanese and German are pretty much 1:1 translation for the most part. Sometimes it makes the German feel a bit awkward.
English adds a bit of flair here and there but it's mostly very minor things.

For example in English Cloud tells Barret to "get help" but in German and Japanese he says "see a doctor"

I'm not praising the game. I just find it dumb to bring age into the whole matter like it somewhat makes your opinion stronger.

>Not yet another dumbed down action game carrying the classic's name.
The original is mindlessly easy already, though. It's literally impossible to "dumb it down" because it's already troglodyte tier.

Wait, you have to push buttons in this game? Fucking dropped.

Why not, wanted to see if there are some real OG Gamers left who know whats up. I am pretty sad that they rape a game with soul that blew me away when I played it on release, that is all.

"Get help" is a better line that is culturally appropriate for english. What's the problem?

This will be just another drop in the sea of shit but here we go. I gotta say I'm not really feeling the game. The combat is a straight improvement considering how broken the original was, although I would have preferred a real ATB or turn based system. And obviously it looks amazing, but I don't think anyone doubted how it would look.
But man, the writing? The atmosphere? It's all lost if you ask me. Everyone has a fucking quip for everything, every second. Maybe I wouldn't mind, but most of them are just so horrendous. Also, this might just be me, but the way it's directed just feels like they're making a big deal about every little thing because it's a remake. Like the little name scene? In the original it's just to have you enter a name. But in this, just the way Jessie says it and how they have to stop everything for it is like
>oh man remember the entering your name scene? well it's back baby. ff7 is back
But almost every scene is like that. Based on the demo, I also feel like they're going to dumb down all the characters to their most obvious traits, as if the original characters weren't already super simple. I mean Barret was straight fucking autistic throughout the whole demo.
Also, I don't really like the music remixes. They feel forgettable and got lost in the noise for me.
I dunno. This all just feels so cynical and pointless. I'd still rather just replay the original with mods or something.

is

I never staggered the guards and they died very easily.

>OG Gamers
The fuck does that even mean?

>Charls Carrolls

guy is literally insane

>even KH3 were clearly just experiments and practice to refine a system that can
?

>the best part is the part where you don't play the game
lmao

>but old game

i thought remasters were supposed to improve old game

He never said there was a problem. Why did you think he did...?

No I was providing that information it for context as all cinematic games like this are a huge turn off
You could argue FF7 was pretty cinematic for its time though but this stuff is too much, the "witty" one liners, the sephirot dicksucking, the boss zooming all over the place like a spastic child
Not for me

In the french version he simply replies with "nigger"

I would pick jap because it's the obviously correct choice but I don't want to miss out on banter that might not be subtitled and the dub isn't extremely terrible like Xenoblade and it's even lip synced so it's harder for me to make that sacrifice
especially when barret sounding like mr T makes way more sense

user you sound like you just don't enjoy new things.

he's pretending to be the outrageous black guy from youtube

Is the "summons are only for bosses" a meme? Because I keep seeing that, but I haven't seen any proof.

Heidegger has funny moments apparently

>second bombing mission
>heidegger is saying to the party "hahaha we got you, we will drop airbuster and you will all die bla bla bla"
>random soldier tells him "sir, we have troubles with airbuster, hes not ready yet"
>heidegger screams "YOU IDIOT, WE ARE LIV-" and mic cuts off

Dude was giving context for his opinion
Calm down

Did I say it was a problem?
I said the German feels awkward because it's 1:1.

Reminder that DEEPGROUND is confirmed

The based nigga of truth.

You could have said so to begin with.

Gotta try hard to fit in with le epic shitposters.

should I play part 1 when it comes out and be disappointed when it ends prematurely or wait 10 years until the final part is out and play it from the start?

Not sure what gave you that idea, but whatever.

strong summons like ifrit can only be used to tough enemies and bosses and shitters like carbuncle can be used for anyone

youtube.com/watch?v=V9TNiDd-Ikw

I want some FF13 enemies as secret bosses in the remake. Is that too much to ask for?

I like that you have the option to sabotage Air Buster.

Battle preparations aren't a part of the game? This is basically you

>game gives you a million and two accessories
>just pick the one with the biggest number because lol ez gaem
>run into a Malboro
>Bad Breath
>Every status ailment under the sun
>watch your party kill itself with nothing you can do about it
>FUCKING BULLSHIT GAME NO SKILL GOD DAMMIT MEME NIGGER!!1!

Yet everything he says is about 110% accurate. He scares me desu.

The absolute worst part is that they changed the plot so that avalanche was not responsible for blowing the reactor
Im so fucking angry at that, call me pathetic I dont care
This game was sanitized for normalfags and I hate it

Not gonna make it.

>Octo
>not BD
Nah your opinion is shit

menus aren't fun, and they're not even necessary. the game is piss easy no matter what you do.

This has happened to me so many times throughout the years when playing a new FF with Malboro enemy. You never know where it is the first time you play and it always gets an pre-emptive strike just to fuck with you.

To be honest it would be better game design to allow you to change accessories mid battle so that if you encounter a cigarrete brand and you are not wearing the thing you dont get a game over guaranteed

having that stagger bullshit is more than enough FF13 reference

well in the original Jessie says the bomb should thave done so much damage, and jokes about making the next one stronger
this is never touched upon because 7 was a rushed mess

>avalanche was not responsible for blowing the reactor
I'm pretty sure that's implied in the original game. Could be talking shit tho because I don't remember

youtube.com/watch?v=MUG9VzHoEoc

Why are you bargaining? It’s literally about how the rise of a capitalist industrial corporate empire begins to destroy the world in such a way that freedom fighters activate the planet’s natural antibodies knowing humanity might be extinguished like the deserving virus it is

Avalanche realized that the reactor was lost so they intentially blowed up the area activating the bomb, they were contantly spying on them

We've been through this a thousand times. She says she was surprised by the bomb but she followed the instructions for it and it worked. It is at no point implied that Shinra blew up the first reactor themselves.

Its a JRPG. JRPGs are FILLED with "long hallways n corridors filled with combat".
Thats true of every JRPG from FF1 and Chrono Trigger to FF7 and FF13 to FF7R and beyond.
The difference is 13 decided to remove the illusions of freedom and freewill, and work the isolation/lack of interaction into the story (fugitives on the run, isolation cutting into them).

Other JRPGs hide it; "oop, you need the buggy. Oop, u must fly over this! Oop, gotta raise 9000 slimes to unlock this path! Do you have HM Cut?" With Village NPCs have a small variance in lines when talked to.
Its just an illusion of freedom. Most JRPGs dont become truly free roam until mid/late game.

At least 7R's 'corridors' make sense thematically and aesthetically; you aren't gonna build a lot of constant big ass open winding areas inside a fucking power reactor.

Confirmed trash.

youtube.com/watch?v=UtQcQ60sSWg

>should thave
shouldn't have*

Something to point out here. The hold thing is very poorly implemented.

He just lays his hand on the switch without force until the gauge is full and then pushes it.
That makes it feel like he's just waiting.
Should have started the animation for pulling the lever as soon as you start to hold down and make it feel justified to have to hold the button.

>Avalanche
You mean Shinra?

Really? Because I had a damn good time seeing how many different ways I could fuck this game up using the materia given to you. At the most bare bones practical level it means you don't have to spend an eternity waiting on summon animations or pressing attack while chugging potions.

Its real but we dont know how summons actually work.

Like, i think you can only use one summon each boss. THis is good because you have to choose which one can help you more. Maybe one summon has more stagger abiltiies and you want to go through that path, while the other is more of a support and will heal you (carbuncle).
But my big issue is why wouldnt i cast a summon. Apparently from what ive seen, the summon bar increases when you stagger effectively, and thats something i would really dig, staggering is not so easy and it requires you to make a strategy to trigger stagger and get summon. Basically, every boss has to be balanced around the fact that you WILL summon something so they need to give him more aoe, or heal, or more HP i dont know. I dont think thats bad actually, if you trigger stagger the battle is easier. If you jsut spam square and damage abilities, you get crushed.

This and the missing shizo voice in clouds head. Fuck this demake.

Based shonen negro, he hates trannies and FF7R

autism

>listening to a delusional person
Jump to the end and listen to what kind of person he is.

dude, its just simple interaction with the world
the fuck, do you want to have hard mini games everytime you press a button?

user that is a piss poor argument. Video games as a whole are illusions. If you remove parts of the illusion your game is lacking, plain and simple

I'm glad about the change. Our heroes being perfectly okay with killing innocent people made absolutely no fucking sense.

>but other jrpgs

He also wants you to potentially die.

The ''they'' is Shinra

Oh yes all the shoehorned sephiroth crap pisses me off
Cant have the fujos away from him for even the first part huh
But Red13 fans can eat crow
Fuck

Its called terrorism for a reason
Fuck you retard, go back to your sanitized movies that dont challenge you

Not that guy, but it's not like humans would be the first to change the planet and make it unlivable for themselves. The Sun is going to scorch the Earth clean one day anyway. I don't doubt humans will be the one's to do the dead and be the cause of their own extinction though.

It's the little things that make games feel good.
If miyamoto played this he would have said the same.

Minigame? All I'm saying is play the animation earlier so it matches the hold. Else it could have just been a normal triangle command.
There's no point to it being a hold triangle.

Nothing changes on the players end but Cloud pushes on the switch earlier, harder and for longer.

I think I just don't understand your sentence. Because "they" in the sentence looks like you're referring to Avalanche to me, which is why I asked if you meant Shinra.

Any hint of "criticism" has shills seething.

Fair, but my point is still there; other JRPGs dress it up. 13 embraced it and made it a focal point.
And honestly? 7R is not just "corridors and hallways"; I was exaggerating for emphasis because of who I was responding to.
7 had plenty of varied rooms. And it'll have NPCs to talk to because it explicitly tells you its a function in the tutorial;
We literally played ONE chapter.
ONE.
Out of like EIGHTEEN.

That's 1/18.
And the ONE we played? It makes sense to be lots of corridors; its a fucking restricted section.

Probably because some of them don't make sense. And I'm one of those who feel indifferent about the game.

you literally just rephrased what I wrote and was replying to though?
and that is literally all FF7 has to say in regards to enviromentalism. you can't read any further into it because there's barely anything there.
it's not the focus of the story. It's a backdrop/vehicle for other aspects, mainly the theme of identity told through Cloud and Sephiroth's character arcs.

And what vague ‘themes of identity’ do you suppose those are? I’ll tell you - a willingness to fight for the natural order and draw the strength to do right from accurate natural self-knowledge and the wisdom of those who hear the cries of the earth (cloud and the party) vs an unholy extinction virus unleashed by the faulty ambition of a capitalist world-destroying corporate venture, whose desire for consumption caused the absorption of a mindbroken supersoldier slave’s brain in a cataclysmic almalgamation of all the world’s selfish ambition and pride, turned against itself in a vector of destruction.

You literally ended your analysis at ‘uh you know, their identities’ without saying what their identities ARE, because it doesn’t suit your wish washy centrist politics. Cloud and Sephiroth are not important, what matters is who they are, what they fight for, and what they represent

It's an attempt from Shinra to have the public side with them to go to war with Wutai again. Avalanche isn't just Barret's crew anymore, but rejects. I think having the plate be entirely their fault is more than enough, and it makes sense eco terrorists just wanted to disable the pump as opposed to taking out half a city block.

Attached: Wutai Avalanche.jpg (1275x1080, 247K)

See it’s not the backdrop, it is the utter forefront. All Cloud and Sephiroth are, are invocations of the natural and unnatural forces whose conflict define this game

>miyamoto

of course you're one of them

Attached: cat pls.jpg (342x316, 55K)

They want the cosplayer normalfag audience who wanks over KH and Advent Children but never actually played the original game. The whole mystery about Sephiroth was what made it so cool. The whole thing with Red already shows that they will force party member in and out over the whole game I bet to cut audio dialogue costs etc. It's just a money grab.
Fucking normalfags....

>bargaining and politicking against theme
Industrialism is destroying this world. Face it.

>Our heroes being perfectly okay with killing innocent people made absolutely no fucking sense.
I'm going to stop you right there. Barrett being a monster was the entire fucking point of his character arc. At the start of the game Barrett wants to cause a shitload of chaos and catastrophe because Shinra is EEEEVIL and WE GOTTA PROTECT THE PLANET GUYS! And both of those are true. But that's not why Barrett is doing this. Barrett is using that as a scapegoat because he wants to get back at Shinra for destroying his home town and killing his family. This is reflected in his interaction with Dyne. Dyne tells him that he cares about nothing and that he since Corel he just wants everything to die. And Barrett tells him he's no better. Barrett was just as much a bloodthirsty monster as Dyne was. Even Cait Sith calls him out on it telling him that Barrett has no right to wag his finger at anyone when he killed a fuckload of people in his reactor attacks.

The only thing that separates Barrett from Dyne is that Marlene offers Barrett the opportunity to be a better man. Something he's able to realize later. But that character arc can't happen if Barrett doesn't start out as an actual monster. Barrett might be a piece of shit in FF7 but he's a fucking awesome character and a great picture that just because you're fighting monsters doesn't justify you becoming one yourself.

Attached: 1580725157254.jpg (480x440, 20K)

What i meant to say is that Shinra intentionally destroyed the area while activating the bomb, maybe they counted on the reactor exploding to kill them?

autism

Nigga "classic mode" is fucking nothing like the original. At this point, i'm guessing everyone who says it is hasn't played FF7, or any RPG that isn't action-oriented.

>FF7
>push one button every turn to beat most fights for the first 10 hours of the game until you unlock materia that makes your game more interesting

>FF7R
>push one button and put the controller down for the rest of the fight then wait for the rest of the game to be made

making a big deal out of nothing

>original game is incredibly linear in Midgar
>Yea Forums loves it
>remake is linear in demo that's only the bombing run on the reactor
>Yea Forums loses it's goddamned mind in rage and frothing

>Scorpion is hard to beat but it wont kill you
Sweet, im fucking tired of bosses that insta kill you in one hit and you have to do it over and over again from the beginning. Thats not hard for me, thats just boring.

I prefer a long, hard battle where i have to use strategies. Maybe die once if im not careful but fuck constant dying, i dont know how people can think thats fun.

Most FF7 fans haven't played FF7. They're attached to the idea of FF7 and you're attached to the game FF7.

They initially intended to kill off Avalanche since they knew they hanged out in sector 7. They also took the chance after the destruction to blame them since no witnesses were alive.

absolutely based nigger

I BEG you to elucidate this ‘theme of identity’ without noticing it’s entirely based in nature

>For starters, none of the original devs worked on this Demake.
Kitase? Nomura? Nojima?
Fucking retard

Yeah man, no materia or anything else at all, on fact Nomura just tweeted that he's removing all materia, items, and anything else that allows actions other than pushing one button.

>XV
>dont play at all becuse its boring shit nobody likes

Pretty based user, Barrett's arc in disc 1 is probably the most underrated part of the game

I know. It is weird.

>KH picture

post disregarded
barret wasn't a fucking monster just a hothead
trust a fucking khfag to overreact holy shit

don't bother user honestly. they'll just call you autistic even though what you're saying makes perfect sense

This will all be cut because the average PS4 gaymer is too dumb to understand anything beyond cape shit stories.

I too like fighting the same 4 bosses for half of the game

Doesn't count

>The absolute worst part is that they changed the plot so that avalanche was not responsible for blowing the reactor
What made me kek at the irony of this is I know a nigger tuber who said he'd be pissed if they changed this. After he saw it, he suddenly accepted it as a "welcome change". Retard.

A lot of people just have this emotional link with FF7 and seeing it remade makes them realize maybe the original game wasnt that much of a masterpiece to begin with. And thats confronting, because emotions.

>destroying this world
Yeah sure, I'm just saying nothing will stop the Earth from being sterilized by the sun eventually, or maybe even a GRB.

>Even Cait Sith calls him out on it telling him that Barrett has no right to wag his finger at anyone when he killed a fuckload of people in his reactor attacks

this annoyed the shit out of me coming from a literal kidnapper

Shhhhh dont tell them that; its shit and just like ff13 all over again, even tho 13 had a reason for it and how dare new games not be completely and utterly original in every facet at all times.

There's a difference between a test of skill and a grinder. A good boss is like showing up for a test on the material you were supposed to study. If you studied you'll do well even if it challenges you. If you didn't you'll fail and you'll have to learn more before you reattempt it. A bad boss is like showing up for a test, except the material on the test is 5 chapters ahead of where you were supposed to study. And when you say this is bullshit the teacher tells you lol you should just git gud.

>BUT OLD GAME

>original game is incredibly linear in Midgar
You could still walk around and explore a bit though and the Wall market offered a lot of different things. But yeah, nothing compared to the rest of the game with its open world map etc.

>even tho 13 had a reason for it
That being uninspired designers?

Okay. Now compare the part of demo we play to the part in the original. Please, let us know whats offered in the OG in this part that is not in FF7.

We'll wait.

Dumbass.

"3 of the most crucial devs to the OG? Doesnt count"

Jesus you're fucktarded.

I think Shinra blowing up the reactor because of Avalanche should make them guilty enough. I hope they're left to believe it was their fault though, but know SE's writing now I doubt it.

Yes kidnapping was part of the Turks job. He was a Shinra employee, he has to do what they say. Reeve also made sure civilians were warned to get to safe places and was in a position to try and protect them during the lunacy of Scarlet, Heidegger, Hojo and the attack by Diamond. Reeve was flawed and in with bad people but also a good man

why'd they turn cloud into an unlikeable cunt

You just know they're going to discover at some point that their bomb didnt do the work

>reddit spacing

What part of "the demo only has the bombing run in it" do you not comprehend?

What does that have anything to do with your shitfarting about "OMG LINEAR MAKES ME GO REEEEEEEEE!!!"?

>blocking the character from walking literally nowhere

what the fucking fuck was the point of that?

The entire reason for the corridors and hallways is to play on the isolation, I mentioned it in a post further up.

You're playing fugitives. On the run. From the entirety of a country's forces. With cameras and bot drones everywhere as well as man power.
People are brainwashed terrified of l'cie. If they see you, they'll almost all report you. They will ignore and hide from you.
Not to mention most of the game is spent in unpopulated areas, either on Gran Pulse or within Cocoons wild territories.

The entire point for the corridors was to build on the isolation; they are truly alone. They have only each other, and their own guilt and grief and mistakes and fears. It makes for truly great character development, especially seeing how the characters act by the climax in personality/traits compared to their chronological introductions.

You’re basically using the existence of natural extinction forces to entitle humanity to create an extinction force against the planet. You are a bad man with a brain virus that causes you to enforce the right of human cruelty in response to the reality of nature’s.

octopath is so fucking boring

Was not quoting that. Go back to re*dit if you can not comprehend our lingo.
Same with Demake is demake.

Linear doesn't make me go reeee. I have 0 issue with it. Doubly so if its done in moderation (as most JRPGs do) or built into the story (As 13 does)

Spacing to punctuate emphasis and sentencing. Nothing to do with reddit, cunt.

agreed
the character stories after their second chapters were just uninteresting

But that's not how a world works. If you're a wanted fugitive the streets don't randomly turn into straight paths with random enemy encounters that are patiently waiting on you. Besides it would have opportunity to do so much more. Having to be careful in towns, having to change your appearance etc. Corridors was the worst way to pull this "wanted" thing off honestly.

You are unironically right, but you are not understanding something. What about cloud? tifa? Wedge? biggs? Jessie? why isnt that their arc too, consdering they are killing soldiers and bombing reactors too?
Barret is far more than just the first bombing mission, what about the second? being in avalanche in the first place? all the hate he has for shinra? having to make his own faction due to his extreme methods? Yeah, maybe the first bombing mission was a dud, but theres a shitton more than that. The speech he gives after the reactor explodes proves it.
In the end if you ask me, it hasnt made barret lets of a monster, just Shinra trying to frame avalanche narrative more believable. Also, no matter what people think, in the OG the whole mission was so retarded that i hurts, how come they dont have basic security cameras to check their own reactors? how the fuck a mega corporation fails to detect basic infiltration to the reactor? At least now we know that the knew

Just accept that this is poorly implemented. Whether it's a big thing or not, the user is right

this might just be the dumbest fucking defense of ff13 i've ever read. great job user. was making the game fucking boring as fuck by not giving the player literally anything to do between battles also part of making the characters feel alone and isolated?

I'm glad you enjoyed the boring menus.

Truly dizzying and valid countepoints that prove we were the ones misunderstanding.
Perhaps you'd like to throw a "no u" uno gif edit at us for good measure.
Cunt.

After XV's awful open-world, I welcome Midgar's linearity.

Is Red XIII gonna be in this one? How far does the story go?

I think that path jessie blocks you from going is the path you take when you are escaping, essentially leading you to the elevator.
If you ask me, it would have been fun to do all that path just to get to the elevator, go down again and have jessie tell you "...you sure love to take your time huh" or some shit

THIS MAN ARE SICK

FF7R is just attacking, you don't need to block lmao.

Are you fucking retarded?

Yes, but he won't be playable. The story goes through the end of Midgar, with some changes: for example, the first Jenova fight has been moved up to the end of this game instead of on the boat to Costa del Sol.

Im not saying 13 was perfect mate. Far from it. But you cannot deny its graphically beautiful, and its character development/writing is some of the best in the franchise, and thats not an easy bar to beat with Kefka, Cloud, Kain, and your pick of most X's characters to keep in mind.

Its gameplay could've used improvement, but I understand the intent behind the development, and in my opinion, for a majority (or near majority) of 13's non-city zones, it works well enough.
