Forza Horizon 4, overall really polished, lots of cars, fun engine swaps and ridiculous tuning in general, map is a little boring, experience is a little sterile/generic. The Crew 2, fuck huge map that you can spend 20+ hours driving and still be discovering new roads, great livery editor, long ass cannonball run style races, graphics are a mixed bag of dogshit and godtier, planes, boats, motorcylces and all the extra shit are surprisingly awesome. Need for Speed Heat, same game they've been making forever, less dogshit than usual, less cancer than usual, same cringe story/characters.
None of them are particularly fantastic, all have some serious shortcomings, but they're all incredibly solid and enjoyable games but fuck I wish Midnight Club LA would get a PC release.

But the prices of base games do actually go up. In Denmark back in the 00s, we paid 400-450kr for a new triple A game. It's now 550-600kr not counting the "special edition" that actually has the complete game.
Gardening can be incredibly expensive. My garden isn't big and I've spent way more on it in 5 years, than my entire 20 year of pcgaming.

So just hardware wise I'm spending 2.5k per every 7 year period. That's a lot more than I spend on watching movies and reading books in 7 years.

Not what you're asking for but I'll always recommend it in racing threads: Wreckfest - I pirated it a while ago and I absolutely love it, I'd really recommend checking it out if you ever liked destruction derby style games. I would have bought it for some of the newly released cars but I heard they made some dubious changes to the physics and I really don't want to lose how it is atm for me

I never whined about the cost of vidya. It's just that I started noticing AAA developers putting in less effort and becoming more of a disappointment while keeping the same price.
The price stayed the same while the actual amount of engaging content and effort put into developing a game stayed the same or actually decreased. You'd think that with video games having an all time high consumer base and development tools becoming more streamlined, that games would have gotten far better.
