You just encounter other peoples structures in your game world.
Most structures like hyways or large basses cant be built by a single person so its a multi people project.

So its like bloodstains and messages in Dark souls except its structures that make traversing the world easier.
Offline is just more tedious as you have to build all the shit yourself.
Althou i imagine you can use cheat engine on PC so it will make things easier offline.
