Haven't looked at anything in depth on purpose yet, it's only 14 euros right now and seems pretty good. Anyone that played it that can give their opinion on it?
Is Deep Rock Galactic any good?

Seems like no-one's played it lol
played during free week.. for 20 hours in just 2 days, so yeah I bought it, it's like a gum that doesn't lose it's flavor over time
It's a lootershooter right? I like gunplay, upgrading etc. Is there any basebuilding aspect to it?
its ok, you pick one of four roles (driller, scout, engineer, heavy) and then head into a mine to do the objective (kill things, mine things, bring things to things etc). each class has set weapons(i think it was two primary two secondary)but you can modify them with modification slots and overclock mods as well as weapon skins you can find from random crates in missions. you can modify their class skills as well, for instance the engineer can have one big boy turret, or two turrets and then do you want quicker build, more ammo etc. they redid the perk system since i last played so im not sure how that is now.
community is fine, but better with friends.
gunplay is smooth, you unlock new weapons after you play for a while, perks, etc. there's no base building, you loot/mine different stuff during a mission and you use every resource you find to buy unlocks. some maps require you to defend a base of operations, where you deposit your materials, most other maps you just dig deep and then have to escape a swarm of bugs while you make your way back to where you started.
I bought and refunded it in 2 hours. the art style is vomit and by the end of the 2 hours I was getting big vibes that the game would just be annoying as hell in the end.
there's no gunplay. you shoot bugs. when there's a swarm you group together and focus fire into a choke. as far as I know, there is no basebuilding. you can dig and one of the classes can build turrets but that's it.
It's good in my opinion. The maps are all procedural so they're not as good as hand crafted ones, but at least you always have something new.
Weapon balance fucking sucks but I guess it's still early access so I can't complain about that. They say they're going to put out the big balance patch later this month, but I have my doubts they'll do a good job.
It's a co-op shooter. Think more along the lines of Left 4 Dead or Vermintide, but every class gets a unique movement ability (Ziplines, Drills, Platforms, and Grappling Hook) to navigate with.
I'm pretty sure it's a L4D clone with dorf elements
and space
It's a shooter where the objective is to loot a planet of all its valuable resources, if that's what you mean. Each class gets some varaints in the weapons they can use but it's binary for each slot. Driller gets Flamethrower or Freeze Ray, Gunner gets Minigun or Autocannon, stuff like that.
On if you plan on playing with friends.
The community is garbage.
I recommend it. Just bought it after the free weekend. I enjoy it solo mode as well (+ multi) because you get a bot that you can command unlike the common pleb.
I bought it two days ago and it's fun.
hope they keep updating it however because it definitely needs more upgrade options guns and mission types
the roadmap says they're going to start adding more mission types once they come out of early access, in a few months.
"1.0 sometime in quarter 2 2020", then mission types after that
It's mission based with randomized caverns. There are different types of biomes and missions. Terrain is fully diggable. Missions are launched from a space station that acts as a lobby, you can choose your class, customize your dorf, get a drink or just play some music. The flow of the game is usually drop in, get your bearings and traverse the cave while collecting minerals necessary to complete the mission or for meta progression (weapon upgrades, cosmetics). Each class has different traversal tools that work best when used in conjunction of each other, for example the Engineer can make platforms that the Scout can grapple to. You have to play while being sometimes assaulted by stray bugs or hunker down a bit when a wave of enemies is approaching.
When you and your frens have completed the objectives and mined enough you can choose to finish the mission, at which point an extraction event which varies from mission to mission starts. Most of the time is involves a 5 minute timer to dash to the escape pod while an infinite wave of enemies is coming for you.
It's worth 15 yuros in my opinion, there's a good amount of content, the game is releasing this year and I really enjoy the emphasis on each class completing each other rather than individual performance. I also like the setting a lot and the community is pretty nice. New mission types are top priority for updates when the game releases so this will add some variety.
I'd also add that my personal experience was that I found the game just okay-ish when I started but getting to play each class with vital upgrades at a decent difficulty level (minimum hazard 3) slowly changed my opinion of the game.
There's also a fair amount of random special events that I was very pleased to find about when playing this game blind.
>Deep Nerf Online
It's good, but got really tired from their inability to make proper balance updates.
>b-b-but you're just IW shitter.
IW is shit, come up with a better excuse. 15 jadiz was deposited to your account.
Imagine if minecraft mining was actually fun and the combat was like l4d, that’s what you’re getting
they have a general for coop games on /vg/. They mostly talk about deep rock galactic so you can ask them anything
The first 5 or so posts ITT read like a fucking scripted ad. Try to be more subtle, you stupid shit, and get a real job.
I don't understand why everyone loves the BRT17. It's got shit for ammo, it does fuck all for damage and has crazy recoil unless you spec for good recoil. And when you do you miss out on more ammo and damage. I can't see why people prefer it over the bulldog.
just buy it you leaf lover
In case you missed the few dozen previous threads:
Yes, it is not only "Good". It is magnificent!
>It's a lootershooter right?
No.
It is more akin to... well, L4D + Minecraft ... + its very own thing.
Maps are procedurally generated and fully destructive, which keeps things fresh and fascinating.
I've recently seen some folks cry about "muh downtime!" when it's the combat that's the EXCEPTION to the core gameplay. Minan', exploran' and partying with your fellow dorfs is the main appeal, with bug swarms changing it to Starship Troopers shooter.
Bulldog with elephants and full ammo is better in any situation.
>I'm pretty sure it's a L4D clone with dorf
No, it is not.
L4D is just run & gun linear shooter.
Dorf is a cave exploration with some environmental "puzzle solving" and platforming first, swarm shooter second.
Got it last Fall.
Got almost 500h now clocked.
I usually get tired of co-op shooters way earlier, but somehow DRG is still fun as hell.
The community's friendly, and the in-game lore and designs encourage teamwork. And beer.
>It's a lootershooter right?
Fuck NO!
Stop buying early access.
some games in EA are beter than fully "finished" games, you just have to not be a retard and realize what is good or not
I generally do not, and DRG had other red flags I tend to avoid (indie, RNG maps, low-poly aesthetics...). However, I made the leap out of some trustworthy recommendations, and I was positively surprised.
Content and satibility-wise, DRG completely BTFO many "finished" games with twice higher price.
It's technically full release already, it's missing its final polish pass and pickaxe cosmetics. Not too much longer until 1.0. I'm more interested in the post release content at this point.
They need to make general buffs while increasing the difficulty.
Nerfs just feel unsatisfying, especially when they come one after another
This and Noita are better than most already released games.
Wait, people like it?
Bulldog with elephant with the auto cannon or AOE with the minigun is better every time
