Yeah I don't trust Activision with a new game either but there's no way they can be worse than Universal and give us garbage like EtD and the mediocrity that was Hero's Tail.

Was TLoS actually good as actual games, ignore that they're spyro games. I remember liking them a lot as a kid, especially the 3rd game.

Not him, but "Zera" was originally titled "Myths Awakened" (or something like that). It was an actual Spyro fangame, but it got a cease and desist order from Activision, so the creator reworked it to not be Spyro related.
A lot of people are salty about it, not only did that game get shut down, but also the other fangame (Spring Savannah), which was arguably the better of the two.
The creator of Zera wasn't too good with opsec, so Activision was able to track him down. He also relished the attention a bit too much, so people often put some of the blame on him.

1 and 2 are mediocre at best, 3 is the only decent game in TLoS, there's a reason why furfags/scalies love cynder, having the villain from the first game as your partner and waifu was very interesting

I literally never heard of the fanbase but not a surprise. Most things I liked as a kid has been forgotten by most people so the people who are still around talking about it in their fanbase are just the cringiest fucking people to exist.

because the art isn't even that great. the other fan games looked better. that spyro 1 inspired game looked fantastic, but we won't ever get to see that now.

As someone who followed the development of both, it was obvious Spring Savannah was the more professional operation of the two. They even went to the trouble of getting (somewhat) similar voice actord for the characters. Some of the later videos (may be removed now), you'd be forgiven for thinking it was an actual time period accurate Spyro 4. They also planned to release a demo right before the C&D debacle which builded on Spyro 1.

Also, the code used for the engine/mechanics in Zera was taken from Spring Savannah (they shared some code/assets with them behind the scenes).

Disregarding the fact that the game would be shit anyway, when has a AAA remake of an old beloved game/series EVER directly led to a new sequel? Some people buy into them under the guise of the company using the remake to "gauge interest in the series", but in reality its just to make a quick buck by exploiting nostalgia. In fact, while we're on the topic of old vidya mascots, the only one who HAS gotten a new and competent sequel is Rayman, and they didn't need a trilogy remake to "gauge interest", they just made a good game.

The fangames getting canned was entirely their own fault for practically throwing up neon signs everywhere going "Hey, check us out!" People have had years to learn that companies generally aren't okay with that shit, excluding Sega. I'm 99% certain the Zera faggots did it on purpose so they would get the C&D and then have an excuse to rip out the Spyro elements and commercially release it as an original indie game.

Those first two Legend of Spyro games were the most boring, repetitive, unfun things I've ever had the misfortune of playing. The visuals are so murky and unpleasant you can barely see shit, 9/10 of the enemies you fight are identical and only palette swaps, the melee combat you'll be using most of the time is basic as fuck and unsatisfying. By the end of each I was using the electrical attacks to throw enemies off of ledges just so I wouldn't have to fight them.

Seeing as the third game was still only like a 6/10, I'm convinced the only reason anybody gives a shit about TLoS is because they just liked the characters or the face value presentation shit.
