There are so many free game engines why doesn't Yea Forums collab to make a game?

too many conflicting opinions, and low self esteem
at least its not like Yea Forums

i think it would be interesting,if Yea Forums made game. it doesn't need to be a one solid idea it can just be an anthology of different ideas.

>like minded individuals from all over the world with little to no programming knowledge come together to create a full fledged video game
>just collab lol

Let me tell you about a little gem called Hunt Down the Freeman

Attached: 1555613171699.jpg (1280x720, 46K)

Yea Forumsaginas already made a game, and it's a visual novel about cripples.

it's a simple as just starting it doesn't have to be the next master piece it just needs to be fun.

There's been lots of attempts, and most of them are inevitably doomed to fail. Those that do succeed usually move off Yea Forums like Katawa Shoujo, which arguably mediocre vn despite the cult status it has achieved.

>visual novels a game
they barely count as one.

and you hope to do this using as a method?

That's the first cardnial rule of game design. You need focus. An "anthology of ideas" is the most amateur mistake you can make. I.E. Star Citizen.

because I'd like to work on something that I could then put on resume instead of being filled with the n-word, thanks

99% idea guys, 1 or 2 people that have leadership c apabilities would get sick of the idiocy and dip. It's what happened to the Yea Forumsgas, not even a month in to the initial planning and a couple cunts banned everyone who was being constructive (but disagreeing with them) and they shat out a mess. Go figure. The days of Yea Forums being able to come together under duress are long gone.

Would be fun.
What idea do you have in mind? Even if it ends up being crap it could still be insteresting. I think the biggest problem is if it's not crap. Then user would fight over who gets money for it.

Yea Forums has done that, there was a collab hack of Super Mario World a few months ago.

okay then what about picking a genre first or a single core interesting mechanic and working from there to revolve the game around that one mechanic or idea.

maybe make it a very interesting and weird and out there mechanic.

I'd like to make a game. It's about a kingdom (or queendom) about women with big tits and they have to defend themselves from monsters with big noses and purple hair that are trying to break into the citywalls to reduce their breast sizes.

It shou ld be like Mount and Blade.

Yea Forums wouldn't even agree on what platform to use to coordinate their efforts
>the purists who think it should be kept on Yea Forums
>the extremist purist who think threads should pop up randomly and organically and if you miss one you miss one
>the flexible purists who would keep a geenral on /vg/
>the discord fags
>the skype fags
>the twitter fags
>the jews who would want to make a kickstarter as soon as prototype was made
>the jews who would want to make a patreon
>the douches taking credit for other people's efforts
I could go on

>game about being a neet (maybe a rpg)
>maybe a silly physics based game about hording stuff.
>a game about releasing creatures
>a game about collecting video games.
>a 3d platformer and rpg mash up game (think mario odyssey combined with dragon quest)

i think the 3d platformer rpg might be the most interesting

Work on our show, you won't get "banned".

>why doesn't Yea Forums collab to make a game?
It did

Attached: super mario vorld title.png (256x224, 9K)

vn unironically would be the best choice for project like this

>>the jews who would want to make a kickstarter as soon as prototype was made
>>the jews who would want to make a patreon
>>the douches taking credit for other people's efforts
>the extremist purist who think threads should pop up randomly and organically and if you miss one you miss one

the others are not to bad but these are what will kill a collab project fast.

that's just remixing another persons ip

it needs to be a original idea.

because its fucking boring

Yea Forums is about gayming not developig

people with talent should go to crowdfunding and prove their skills

Yea Forums is just about video games, if people can post e-celeb threads why can't we get more dev threads.

e-celeb is the reason comic con is not about comics anymore

Would like to see The Legend of Cunny made by Yea Forums.

It was made by Yea Forums iirc.

That was Yea Forums, fag. Stop trying to plagerize you Yea Forumsermin.

What's a video game? We just argue over who's better, Sony or Nintendo.

Attached: 6aa.jpg (500x376, 32K)

i wish Yea Forums could be more constructive instead of always arguing all the time.

and are too close is the keyboard

There was literally that Super Mario World collab a little while back.

Remember that one time Yea Forums actually tried to make a simple RPG game with RPG maker where we can recruit a lot of characters, and some character can be upgraded depending on character(s) we already recruited? Whatever happened to that?

>Yea Forums
>making games instead of shitposting politics

Attached: a.jpg (1280x720, 85K)

>the purists who think it should be kept on Yea Forums
Absolutely.
>the extremist purist who think threads should pop up randomly and organically and if you miss one you miss one
I get where this idea comes from but it needs to be sacrificed for dev continuity, something like this would only really work once you have a core team and they're working together elsewhere already.
>the flexible purists who would keep a geenral on /vg/
Fuck /vg/.
>the discord fags
>the skype fags
>the twitter fags
My kneejerk reaction is to say fuck these niggers as well, but communication between people is incredibly important if you're actually planning on completing something.
>the jews who would want to make a kickstarter as soon as prototype was made
>the jews who would want to make a patreon
These are the people you boot first, no matter what kind of contributions they've made because this will kill community projects ASAP.
>the douches taking credit for other people's efforts
Stupid niggers acting like attentionwhores isn't anything new.

KS usually gets credited to either Yea Forums or /jp/

this user gets it.
especially
>These are the people you boot first, no matter what kind of contributions they've made because this will kill community projects ASAP.

the whole point should be that it's a project made out of passion not profit those are always the best games.

Engines are pointless.
As a game developer, let me tell you what's most important : Graphics. You want to make a successful game? Be an artist, not a game developer. Even a walking simulator will still do you good.

>b-but Dwarf Fortre..
You have been using this excuse of an exception for 6 years now. Wake up and smell the fucking coffee.

i see what you mean literally one of the most influential games is just a walking sim with some interactivity. some good visuals can really sell a game also an interesting mechanic also helps.

This is totally doable as long as nobody has any kind of high expectations. As long as people understand it's just for fun and the result is going to look like trash, and they're okay with that, even trash games can be fun to play

Why can't I find this?

this.

let's just make something fun, it doesn't have to be some grand spectacular game, it can juts be weird and fun to play.

Attached: 1575582003174.gif (256x224, 372K)

It has. There's also a general on /vg/ that produces very little. /vp/ has been making pokemon Sage for years now and it keeps stalling out because Yea Forums users can only namefag for so long before flipping the proverbial table for attention

Just make Warioware but with a bunch of user's games

The smartest thing to do would be move it off site once a team was established.

i think it should be moved off site only if the team can agree that it will be 100% be finished if they do so, other wise it's best it stays on site, so if the initial team doesn't deliver anyone else is free to continue the work.

if Yea Forums ever makes a game i hope its a racing game because it seems like no dev wants to try doing anything new with racing games

There's been a few attempts before. Usually what happens is people get excited initially from throwing a bunch of ideas around and a team does start to form but then it quickly dissipates from lack of motivation because game development takes a really fucking long time.

You would have to find a group of people willing to overcome the ideaguy/honeymoon phase. You might be able to circumvent this with really simple game ideas like flappy bird that can get shit out within a week but people here aren't going to be interested in fantasizing about that unless it's some meme shit.

Attached: olimarcoffe.png (300x300, 53K)

i think the simple approach is best, you just need a mechanic and then iterate on that mechanic in various new ways.

it's like how mario at it's core is just about jumping and then it just iterates on that core concept in various ways.

That one flash game on Newgrounds

Nigga, this is the absolute worst platform for a collaboration on the already shabby place for collaboration called the internet for a proyect that requires a lot focus, dedication and a lot of talent to even come out, even if it did come out it won't be good or it will be extremely simple, and even if THAT came out it wouldn't even be Yea Forums's game, it will be the work of 5 people at most and the ideas of 3 or 4 other people, AKA the only ones worth a shit/can be made, and Yea Forums isn't just 10 people

That's a good start. If we want long lasting community interest I think we need a game that can allow for very quick and flexible idea/asset contributions.

The SMW hack collab was successful recently because it didn't ask for too much effort from someone for too long and had a dedicated team lead keeping it updated.

The animation/art style is going to have to be flexible for anyone to contribute their own style. A Warioware styled game as suggested would work wonderfully for this but I do think there's a lot of potential to think of something new too.

Attached: luigiimhome.jpg (231x240, 25K)

>That one user that has to link all the shitty spaghetti games together

literally the only fucking successful collab i've seen Yea Forums pull off is translating AA2 because dongfire said it take months even up to a year for them to do

>working for free

Attached: what a shitload of fuck.jpg (1200x800, 70K)

jannies do it all the time, your point?

that job is way easier

To add to this the game absolutely should be created for web browsers as by far it's going to be the easiest way to have people test/play it here.

smwcentral.net/?p=section&a=details&id=22081

This brings back memories

wasn't Yea Forums making a Yume Nikki fangame? I got no idea how that turned out, I stopped following the threads after a while

Attached: 1548763971146.jpg (1343x1267, 879K)

So it will be Wario Ware on HTML5 with added mod support?

>start making game on Yea Forums
>code is put up on github do everyone can access it easil-
>NIGGERSNIGGERSNIGGERS

>okay time to get some artwork for th-
>shitty meme anime drawings
>dicks
>pepes
>racist drawings of literally anyone and everything
>anti-semitism in general all over the shop

ends up being a shitty platformer or rpg maker game that all of 3 people play because it turns out more than 15 minute if racist /pol/ memes is not actually a fun game to play.

You people can't go one thread without bringing up Jews, women or anime, as a joke or otherwise. You might have your artist, programmer and musician be over the age of 25 but all it takes is one 18 year old shitposter to run the whole thing into the ground because its "funny"

Yea Forums will never make anything of substance, as it should be. The closest you'll get is if you can lock down some participants from the not-insane general threads of niche RTS games from /vg/.

Coming to this place for anything other than news and creative threads is a fucking fool's game.

woah coool it with the antisemitism bro

Can it be a school shooter sim instead?

that's not a bad idea.
nice going user.

because a team that lacks in a unified vision towards their game will result in a shit game. Look up what the development process was for Final Fantasy XIII

Gonna compile some ideas here

>Warioware where people can add in their own microgames, would need something to filter out the unplayable shit

>Simple RPG Battles where people add in their own character through an image and fight each other online. Maybe like Pokemon Battles?

>You just shoot at actual schools

Something multiplayer/user created seems important for this but coding multiplayer even for something simple is a huge undertaking but would pay off wonderfully.

>Yea Forumsgas
what the fuck is that

Also Yea Forums have already made a video game. Pic related

Attached: header.jpg (460x215, 41K)

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO STOP REDDIT SPACING GREENTEXT

Multiplayer isn't that hard if you use UE or Unity, as long as you don't expect esports tier netcode.

>What is Yume Shikki

what about combining the warioware and rpg where people add in their own character into one idea???

like a warioware rpg.

Yea Forums did make a game

Attached: Capturar (1).png (538x177, 34K)

Its too hard and i dont work for free

none of you can program, talent or write anything beyond a shitpost
gl hf with ur game

Some guys are already working on a game called Yume Shikki. They want people who are seriously able to contribute, though.

So an RPG but the enemy encounters are kind of like microgames people make?

What if there's a tiny hub area that works like a simplified animal crossing where you can customize your character and room with clothing/furniture people create that you win from the microgames?

this sounds pretty dope not going to lie.

i think this is the winning idea.

the smw collab was really convenient to work on because the tools were easy to pick up but also allowed more experienced rom hackers to do some cool shit too. flexibility AND accessibility are very important things in a collab like that, and i'm happy to see it got as much recognition as it did
t. an user who contributed a few levels
