I've never played Monster Hunter, but I see it on sale now. Base game is around 14-15 euros. Is the game strictly multiplayer, or can you play solo? If you can play solo, how fun/boring the game is?

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against multiplayer games. But I don't want another FF XIV where the game does not allow me to play solo dungeons (but they give double EXP to new players without the option to turn it off which is bullshit, especially if you want to play the game normally)

im going to assume you are talking about World. Go for it, the entire game can be soloed, especially world because of how casualized it is. its a great start for newcomers and thats its intention.

someone somehow got filtered. combats especially great in world, more fluid, less clunky, etc. game isnt artificial difficulty, but you are right about the grinding part. you kill monster, craft gear, fight stronger monster, repeat.

Well it definitely shouldnt be classified as a normal enemy. I guess it'd be a mini boss since its far stronger than any other enemy in the game, but its fairly irrelevant and doesnt even get its own healthbar.

MHW can be played entirely singleplayer, but the endgame might become a struggle for you if you dont get people.
Play solo up until you start struggling, and if you need help, go to the Quest Board -> Join a Quest -> Respond to SOS and find the quest you need to do

Combat being shallow entirely depends on the weapon.
As for the "artificial difficulty" the game has mechanics to where occasionally you will get stunned from taking heavy damage and your character wont be able to move for a few seconds, but this can be very easily avoided with certain skill sets
And the grind? Yeah, its horribly grindy but not if you are a PC user :)

The combat is great, and the enemies are mostly fun.
The only legitimately shit thing about it is the grind, if you are on console then prepare to suffer, if you are on PC then there are ways to ease the pain, like adding certain materials to one of the game's shops and then buying them with the money youve earned
