Better RPG than New Vegas

>better RPG than New Vegas
>no one makes threads about it anymore, but New Vegas gets one daily
Why? Did nu/v/ got filtered by its realistic mechanics?

god damnit if only they fixed everything insead of making a dlc

>can only play a fixed character
>literally no build or weapon variety
>linear story with one ending

It was a fine game but not really made for replayability.

like what?

combat is terrible

boring ass game for boring ass faggots

>roleplaying game
>can't change my role
Sorry, KCD is not an RPG.

This game would be a 10/10 if they just did standard 1st person melee combat instead of implementing a poorly executed lock-on "dueling" system. It was a good idea that should have been abandoned when it become apparent it wasn't going to work for combat with multiple combatants.

1st person melee combat can't be done well, it's impossible.

Bullshit

Runs like garbage and the intro takes far too long.

I love KCD but it's not an RPG. There's role playing elements, I'll give you that, but the sole purpose of the game is not to role a new character and play its story, you're Henry of Skalitz and that's all it ever will be.

>literally no build or weapon variety
Most people play sword builds, but the maces are actually much powerful, especially against armored enemies, despite having less combos. Not sure what kind of weapons they could add. Crossbows I guess? But I think they were banned by the pope in that time. Also polearms, but that can be modded in and they even have a hidden skill tree. I heard people complaining that they can't play as "stealth archers", but I think stealth is powerful enough in itself, stealth archer would make it broken plus it would be unrealistic, because arrows won't kill an armored dude immedietely.

Fixed character is not a problem. You can still be evil, good, neutral, a psycho etc. They did a good job at making Henry a blank state character, while still giving him some personality that can be modified to your liking. If you think about it the courier from New Vegas also had a past and a little bit of personality. Lonesome Road DLC was all about courier's past.

You can be a thief, a knight, a chad troubadour pussy slayer, a virgin (there's an achievement for finishing the game as a virgin). You can modify who Henry is to your liking, just like in any other RPG.

>swings a mace like an idiot
>1st person combat is bad

are there any plans to take the assets and make a new game?

I'm pretty sure a there is a sequel in the planning stages at this point.

I do hope they make a better combat system.
As it is the game is far more complex than people give it credit for.
It's like a Star Citizen in the medieval ages except the devs actually released a complete (yet buggy) game.

They really make Cloud Imperium Games look like shit if you think about it.

Starting the game is a pain in the ass.

They started making their next game in 2019. Before the last DLC was dropped it was in a planning stage, and now its in full development.

>somehow a small (back then) indie studio figured in out with a fucking source mod
>AAA devs cant figure this shit out to this day
I think its because they focus too much on defense and parrying shit when first person melee is at its best when its just unga bunga gibbing enemies with powerful charged attacks

Nu devs make the combat work with controllers first, this is why the entire first person genre be it shooter or melee suffer tremendously especially since they rely on lock-on shit.
Yes there is a xbox330 port of DM, and it plays absolutley terrible because it was not designed for controllers.

I'm trying my best to enjoy this game but the save system is fucking retarded.
>Do a line of sidequests
>for whatever retarded reason, doesn't create a checkpoint save after completing them
>some stupid environment shit or fight gone bad kills me
>lose hours of progress
GOD FUCKING RETARDED SHIT DAMNIT

It plays fine if you are against a single opponent
t. finished it a few days ago on 360

A lot of people got filtered by this game because it didn’t have quest markers. I can’t tell you how many “my game’s bugged” posts I’ve seen on steam and neogaf forums because they didn’t know how to read the quest description or listen to the game or think for themselves. They just heard the meme that the game is buggy and repeated it and got filtered. I know because at one point I thought the same thing after reading shit online about a quest I was having difficulty with (the one where you get sword parts from various blacksmiths), until I realized that I hadn’t talked to a specific blacksmith and then my quest progressed further. Meanwhile everyone online was saying it was a glitch and a “well known bug”. Fuck that noise. The game worked perfectly for me and was a blast. Some of the most fun I’ve had in an RPG. Nothing comes close to the feeling of getting drunk off save potions inside the monastery at night trying to steal the Necronomicon and get out before I get caught or pass out. The game is one of my favourites of all time because I gave it the effort to figure it out.

This game is pretty incredible from a scale and complexity point of view. I had fun with the combat for a good while, the dueling and archery is lots of fun and pretty much as realistic as it ever gets. Its great for HEMA guys. I did get bored of it after a while, I think because its so narrative driven and the narrative was just okay. Certainly no Saxon Tales. I wish the PC was a custom character and that it wasnt so narrative focused, because the sandbox elements are actually really cool and I love the more realistic take on the middle ages, even if its still a bit too grimdark compared to reality with regards to the human interactions.

The combat is shitty

If you have 80IQ

>no u
ok schizo

If efen a retard can't enjoy a tacticle element of an action game, then said element is garbage. Leave thinking games to the strategy realm, not first person, real time action peasant stabbing simulators.

Pretty sure this game inspired Rockstar Games to add those realistic mechanics like hunger, tiredness etc. to RDR2. And now there are rumours that Rockstar is making a medieval game.

It’s a cool environment but too boring for me to finish it

I love the game, but combat sucks.
It's pretty engaging when you're dueling but throw more people into the mix and it turns into spaghetti. Doesn't help that the large-scale battles are skyrim-tier.

I would've played it more if you could have created your own character

Because "realistic" mechanics doesn't translate into fun mechanics all the time, user.
Skyrim has you press button, swing sword.
Fallout has you press button, shoot gun.
This make you, press button, OOPS, dropped sword on the floor! Shoot arrow? OOPS, shot the fucking thing at a 45 degree angle!

No one wants a game made by fascists

maybe you are just a moron who likes streamlined experience. You might just go watch a movie you know.

>Hurr durr playing a character isn't a roleplaying game

I guess Planescape Torment isn't an RPG either then

The combat.
You can win literally every 1v1 fight in the game simply by pressing block at the right time, and the timing isn't even difficult, not in the slightest.

Mordhau did it, it's perfect there. If only it was a proper single player game...

No, I totally get what it's going for.
>Son of a blacksmith, no training of any kind, so he sucks at everything. Realistic!
But goddamn, the bastard feels like he's drunk off his ass, no matter how realistic you want to make your game, it needs to be enjoyable first, and it wasn't.
I'd rather play Dark Souls with my feet than tangle with that combat system.

theres literal just a sperg that makes a daily NV circlejerk thread.

>but throw more people into the mix and it turns into spaghetti
Try sword fighting multiple people in real life. You'll end up dead.

Most memorable experience I ever had with this game was going back to Skalitz about halfway through and finding it absolutely infested with bandits using the place as a camp. They surrounded me, I desperately fought 5 of them at the same time, killed them all, and barely survived. I had wounds all over and it took me a while to recover.

That was one of the most intense moments I've ever had in a game, it beat Dark Souls by a mile because I hadn't saved in ages and there was no convenient bonfire to return to.

I think the combat system is good because you'd have to be practically a fucking demigod to beat 5 guys at once IRL. In other games you can kill 5 enemies at once and it's just a normal situation. KC makes you appreciate tactics a lot more, like being outnumbered, managing to kill one or two with arrows before they get to sword range of you, etc.

You can though, you dumb faggot who never even played the game. There's even a potion you can make to reset your skill points.

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 145K)

Wish you had a clip, sounds awesome. You should have a recorder with instant replay, whether that be shadowplay or something else.

It doesn't matter you dumb faggot because you can get almost all perks not even halfway through.

By your shitty logic every game is an RPG because you can just pretend you're roleplaying as Mario or Batman.

Not him: Was that added in a patch? I don't recall ever coming across that when I played.
