Permadeath in FE is fucking retarded. It's a fine mechanic, but you can't have all three of these at once.
Valkyria Chronicles has 1 and 2, but not 3 because you need to really play dumb for a character to die permanently. Xcom has 1 and 3, but not 2 because the characters aren't unique. And it's fine in both those. In FE it's just obnoxious.
