in the other thread people were talking about a full on list of when stuff was released and the like for people to get into the series. As someone who did just that recently I actually made my own, way more autistic list that specifically had everything as close to original japanese release order as I could find, because I was curious to see how thought out they were about when this stuff was released and how it'd related to other installments (more than I expected) and just because I thought it'd be kinda neat to simulate what it was like. anime conventions around when GU came out were full of them but now they're full of ethots and people who use it to Build Their Brand because they'll definitely make it as some kind of model

having real life stuff affect your character in some way definitely seems like a very flavorful way to do the standard tabletop advantage/disadvantage system. I'm not sure how you could have "you can't log in" be a thing since that means you literally can't play the game anymore

Maybe some kind of between moments rest/cooldown system like a lot of games has but instead of your character being a farmer or whatever you're not playing video games and doing something meaningful with your life (or working your shitty wagie job like silver knight)

They need to make a new Dragon Ball game. Maybe an online one.

Or having to do work or have some family thing come up irl. Yeah thats the idea. I dont wanna go TOO in depth but the idea is the characters may have to investigate something irl or some shit or go to a convention and skills and background features may help add a flavoring. Or the DM can use them to add a wrench in the plans of extended campaigns. Like your dog ran away out a hole in the fence so you have to log out or work needs you sunday so you cant log in.

It's so grindy tho, I just hit the attack button over and over and the thing is dead, if the enemy is harder I sometimes use the menu. I love the game but the combat makes it hard to play

Im playing Wavemaster and its a lot more fun. Also playing with other people is more fun too.
Try playing on harder areas, danger breeds excitement.

I tmentioned this in one of the previous threads, but there's a game in development called Vital Hearts which basically seems to have been built to play .hack.
Or probably SAO honestly, but still.
Might be worth looking for a copy to see if there's anything worth lifting for ideas.

Look I've been with franchise since the start. I went balls deep in on the whole 'multimedia is the future'. All the fucking manga, all the shows/ova's, all the games. Fucking Yasashii yoake was my alarm clock for years.

But instead of a rich tapestry of interwoven tales, it's literally the same story repeated over and over. And when it's not a derivative of it, it's total shite. (Does anyone even think about Alcor?) Being multimedia focus doesn't mean your story should be filled with cliffhangers and on the nose "YOU GET IF IT YOU CONSUMED ALL OF IT".

Nothing else has captured half the magic of Sign. And when you realize that "the best part of the franchise" is a meandering mess of red herrings and plot holes, it's pretty clear sign that nothing good has come from it.

SAO sucks about at least Kawahara tries to get better.

I used to think so too, but then I played through Link and its sequels and read all the supplementary material. This sounds like a shitpost, but it's legitimately better than R:1. On the surface the stories might seem similar (like the entire plot of the movie) but there's a lot going on. The web novel especially, bullet, is god tier. I recommend reading it in Japanese if you can, the translation is pretty shoddy.

yes. the legend of the twilight manga first came out in fucking december 2001 in comptiq magazine, sign only started in april of the next year. there are constant references by the people making these things themselves that the manga is the first thing, even if that makes no fucking sense because it's set after. hack is made by crazy people.
for the third season. it's movie -> bullet -> versus. the theatrical relase of the movie was in janaury 2012, bullet's first chapter came out june 15th later that year, and then the home release of the movie which included versus came out shortly after on june 28th.

as I said, this is RELEASE ORDER. not timeline. the absolute earliest you could have possibly experienced any given installment

What the fuck are you talking about? You can literally get pretty much get the full picture just by watching the anime and games, like R1's Sign, IMOQ and Liminality,. Most of the materials are condensed on the games and are summarized by different characters (like the gal posting the poem of the legend found in the BBS, hell even you get summaries from Helba). It's almost like you didn't play at all.
The other materials are basically just supplements, like as to how Azure Knights came into being, the identity of the poster of the poem etc, (aka non essential, just tidbits expanding the lore).
