The combat was unironically 10 times better than Skyrim's. At least Amalur went full action game and didn't spend time pretending to be an RPG.

>be EA
>solely base your games around being "the new X killer"
>failing miserably every single time

Wow I wonder why

Combat is probably the best in an action RPG, bar maybe Monster Hunter

Too bad the story was absolute shit, the maps were way too big, and there was no fast travel system

Literally just giving you a horse or sowmthing would have made the game 100X better

Plus having to watching that fucking animation of spiders appearing out of the ground in the haunted forest 20000000 times was unnecessary

The story, quest design and the art direction, in general, were it's biggest weak points. I imagine that a lot of people glanced over it because it looks like an uglier Fable.

Are there other singleplayer mmos?

why is the camera so fucking stupid and glued to the ground. Im really trying to enjoy the game aside from that, just why

Because they don't actually care and just want the good sounding marketing pull?

I still can't believe it nearly bankrupted Rhode Island.

It killed alright

Xenoblade games.

No need to make it into a question, you're right.

>Combat is probably the best in an action RPG,
It was just God Of War's combat but without jumping.

lmao, they sold it to THQ tho. I wonder if they will do anything with the IP.

excuse me what

game got way too easy at the end unfortunately. being a pure sorcerer was fun for awhile though

Bury it, with any luck.

360/PS3/Wii era was really, really fucking bad.

Final fantasy XII has MMO style combat. FF12 is also one of the best in the series

It was originally meant to be an MMO, which is why the quests and story are shit.

>FF12 is also one of the best in the series
lol
>It was originally meant to be an MMO
That was project Copernicus, when they found out that making a mmo was too fucking expensive they bought 38 Studios to make a separate singleplayer game based on that universe to get a cash flow.

The last two asscreeds totally feel like it

>toned midriff
HNNNNNNGGG!!!!

>move to a new area
>levels for monsters in the entire area are set to the one you are currently at
>remains that way for the rest of the game
Easy mode is literally exploring the entirety of the map as soon a you can, forcing all monsters to be at low level for the rest of the game.

That is most certainly not how it works. When I was playing, I've skipped one of the early areas without ever stepping into it, and then returned to it completely overlevelled.

But why would you do that?

>quest requires you to go in an other region
>go to other region to do the quest
Unless you play the game as a spring cleaner simulator, you are gonna fuck your exp gain in the long run.

There seem to be a level range for each region, but the level scaling definitely worked that way.

No it was the best era for some fun jank games.

I had more fun with this than with Skyrim and unlike Skyrim I actually finished this.

That is how it works, actually, there’s just a level cap for each area. So, each area has a level range that it can be. Once you enter an area, if you’re below that range or at its lowest level, it locks to that level. If you’re at the max or above its level, it locks to the max of that area.

It’s actually annoying early on because I prefer to have enemies in an area the highest possible level for better loot drops, so you have to grind a bit before moving on so you can over level and always be ahead of the area curve.

Late game you’re almost always over leveled.

Even on the hardest difficulty the game is nowhere near hard enough to require any kind of shit like this

I guess you could look at it that way. The way I look at it is that every game studio collectively forgot how the fuck to make video games for about 5-6 years.

Didn't some baseball player spend his fortune on this game and then it bombed and he had to liquidate his company to pay back his investors?

dragon age inq.

retard

Kenshi.

unironically a great game, still have it.

Dragon's Dogma. It's incredibly fun to boot.

>player can't wear skimpy armor or clothes
so that's why this game failed

There is fast travel though. Albeit you do need to walk a distance since the maps are enormous.

the best in the series.

Bretty gud game, kinda burnt myself out on all the quests halfway though. Maybe I'll do another playthrough and actually say "No" this time.

The game was genuinely interesting but the piss easy difficulty ruined it. The hard setting or whatever it was called was basically adventure mode.

It frustrates me though since there’s so much wasted potential. I loved the setting and how it played out in a “Traditional” Celtic fae fantasy world. You don’t see that kind of thing in games often, especially not as a primary story element.

The Greatsword in that game felt so good though. I love games that have weight but also have a “flow” to heavy weapons, which I think KoA nailed pretty damn well.

>"Wolves hunt in packs!"

I played greatsword mostly, probably why i have such fond memories of the game, I did a wizard run but you just nuke every area late game.

>Todd McFarlane
isn't that the Family Guy guy?

>isn't that the Family Guy guy?
No, the Spawn guy.

That’s Seth MacFarlane. Todd McFarlane made Spawn and very detailed nerd hummels in the 90s.

looks like scarlett johansson

>can't romance

>game advertises itself as [X killer]
>fail miserably
>not only it pales in comparison, but as a game alone it's pure garbage
It's always the same

By the way, THQ Nordic acquired this IP some time ago, and they are definitely doing something with it.

I liked Alyn Shir's ass.
Only memorable character of that game.

When was the "X killer" term ever been true ?

Hardmode : No mention of games that kill themselves ala WOW

>THQ nordic
Isn't that company literally Brazilian now (or is that just the gothic team) ?

>"Trips get you targeted by blacks!"
>"If only the mods on Yea Forums weren't so lax!"

>nordic
Yeah user, that phrase definitely comes from Brazil.

>thqnordicbarcelona.com/
I thought they aquired THQ nordic [and are the main team from Spain] and are now under "THQ Nordic™ (Barcelona)", and i fucked up its actually Spain not Brazil

>en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Embracer_Group
This is the owner.
They were first known as THQ Nordic AB.

Halo

>owner
So why the fuck is their main line game outsourced too Spaniards ?

That team just did a prototype and showed to thq.
And for worse they got greenlit after all that positive feedback of the demo.
Meanwhile Piranha Bytes is working on Elex 2.
Also worth mentioning that even PB can't to a Gothic remake justice because most of the old staff left a long time ago.

Just watched the GVMERS video on it. It sold like shit and the company created by a pro baseball player went under after it released.

Even if it sold well it would've been a flop. The money poured into it was ridiculous and the number of copies it needed to sell just to break even was unrealistic. All that money wasted and it bankrupt an entire state.

Actually it sold really well. Not well enough for the money it took to make it but still, it sold impressively well for a brand new IP.

>use cheat engine to make the game harder
Makes it much more enjoyable.

>most of the staff left a while ago
>PB
oh, i thought it was more of a Bethesda/Id Software relationship where PB and THQ nordic both work on the game but this makes more sense.
Also, who the fuck even really wants the new gothic ?
People who played gothic when it came out ?
I bet half the people who did are already pushing daisies and the other half are too busy wageslaving and playing simulators

Attached: tired_pepe.jpg (960x960, 75K)

Yeah. It only failed because of the outrageous investment it took to make it. It was basically impossible to recoup those costs on a new IP, outside of some Fortnite levels of memedom.

I just want a proper Gothic 3.

a red flag game that means the possessor has zero taste

>Gothic 1 : 2001
>Gothic 2 : 2002
dude, even if they make it then it will never be the same that was made in the golden age of pc games since everything was fresh and innovative
If they where going for Gothic 3 they should have made it in 2003-05

I played Gothics when they came out. I'm not even 30.

Just a little reminder that some beisebol star lost hsi entire fortune investing in this game.
I always start this game but never play it more than 2 hours for some reason. The start is really good but after that I kinda becomes boring. I might try it again tonight.
