Is there a reason why like 80% of the rooms in this game are Chinese?
Monster Hunter Generations
Probably because JP has its own servers, but the rest of the world is stuck together due to licensing issues with the crossover stuff and no 3DS version. China is a big place, so there are a lot of people playing.
They're all stuck indoors right now.
What are you guys working toward? I'm just making cats and getting through village with them myself. Coming up with cat builds is a lot of fun, the options really open up when you look past the crit boomerang meta
Hr8 diablos 2 hard for me
What level of armor is recommended for it?
Got a combined total of 500 atm
Whatever you can get with your best armor set, plus any Armorskin or whatever you have.
That Diablos is a low G Rank monster and will be hitting harder than anything your High Rank armor can really handle. The quest is basically a test for you to git gud and dodge.
For the Diablos itself, watch out for when he's going to charge and try to break his horn early if you can, a Pitfall trap will help with that. He does go to sleep when he's low on health, so you can bring Large Barrel Bombs+ to get some boosted damage on him.
Is GU worth getting?
I got through it by the skin of my teeth with aerial swaxe and my first high rank armor set upgraded as far as it would go. The damage it did was nuts, so I was probably a bit undergeared and should have been using a late high rank armor set.
>just ended a session featuring some chink making us fail G4 Hyper Pickle twice before everyone left, a jackass host who named their room Turns and tried to pick multiple times in a row, and finally another chink who immediately left after carting once to Hyper Gore Magala with the other person deciding to quit a moment later even though we were doing fine
I'm so fucking angry
Yes, it has a lot of content and it's surprisingly active. A number of people also recently got into it since it's had several sales in the past few months.
Quick!
What is:
>Your favorite monster
>Your main weapon
>Your current weapon
>The monster that gives you, most troubles hunting
>monster
Glavenus and Ahtal Ka for lore, but Valstrax is really fun to fight. He's like an actually decent Shagaru.
>weapon
Switch Sword all day
>current weapon
Trying to learn Valor Longsword, not having good luck with the parry.
>monster that gives the most trouble
Definitely Brachydios.
Cheers, I'll pick it up then.
>>Your favorite monster
Seltas/Seltas Queen, I love those mecha bugs and their fights are comfy. Looking forward to seeing the mantis in action too!
>>Your main weapon
I alternate every hunt. As long as it looks cool, I'll use it. Collecting all the cool gear has greatly impeded my progress and my box space, but it's worth it.
>>Your current weapon
Recently it's been Prowler since there's so much variety in what they can do. Bombs operating on the highest value between melee and ranged damage but still doing true damage that ignores hitzones makes them really useful. I wish gunlance worked like that.
>>The monster that gives you, most troubles hunting
This used to be Tetsucabra, but I've gotten used to it since 4U. In GU I guess it would be that one specific Diablos that was mentioned earlier. Overall, I'd say it was probably Zenith Khezu just because I never got a chance to finish learning it.
>Brachydios
Man, Bad Hair Day Brachy gave me so much trouble back in 4U. That monster taught me about delayed wakeups by comboing me to death when I got impatient. Ended up putting on a pair of Seltas drill fist dual blades and engaging it in fisticuffs to win. Feels a lot easier in GU.
ended up getting a couple of randoms to help me, but thanks for the replies.
Would anyone be willing to share their cats so I don't have to start one from scratch to play Prowler?
Rate my hunter
I would if I could, but I can't play for like 5 hours or so and I don't know if this thread is going to last that long.
On a somewhat related note, I had been posting this image the last few threads and have come to the realization that most of these builds are awful. They're just derivatives of the Collect Prowler's meta boomerang set with no regard to what each cat is actually good at. Protect cats specialize in melee and bombs and have terrible ranged stats, for example. If you want a safe boomerang cat, you could just make the bomb build and have better damage output or the healing one for comparable tankiness. They aren't optimized either; you could squeeze several more skills out of these sets if you just taught them the group A skills like Heal Horn from another cat instead of wasting precious pattern space on it. Emergency Retreat can be substituted for Soothing Roll to save on teaching space and Furbidden Acorn isn't really necessary unless you're aiming for time attacks, you're focusing your build around an expensive skill like Rath of Meow, or your cat sucks at gaining meter. If anybody took a build from this pic, I highly suggest you figure out your own build using it as a base instead.
Dark Souls/10, pretty nice knight look you've got going on there
frenzy virus
>Chaotic Gore weapons with Frenzy Fever
I love this gimmick. I kind of hope Frenzy comes back for real sometime, it was fun to overcome the virus and hunt more aggressive versions of all the monsters.
>Apex monsters
>Fun
I have still ptsd thanks to apex rajang/Deviljho
>Mizutsune
>Sword and Shield
>Heavy Bowgun
>Piscine wyverns besides Lavasioth
Apex can go and stay go, wystones are as bad as mantles. Regular Frenzy on the other hand was fine
Emergency Retreat is arguably better than Soothing Roll though, because with GFW you an spam ER for a 1-gauge full heal, while SR has a huge windup and cooldown.
Played this game for 300+ hours. Never got a Focus 6 ooo charm after farming brachy 500+ times. so I dropped the game.
I hate world's deco system but I hate classic's charm system much much more
This is true, plus it heals 30 HP compared to Soothing Roll's 20 HP and SP mode's cost lowering lets you get a bit more out of it even without GFW support. Soothing Roll does heals status though, which I imagine would be more useful if you're going to the trouble of packing Health Horn with it like all these builds do. Oh, and I might just be misremembering here, but can't you cancel Soothing Roll early with an attack?
just entered g-rank in GU, and the strongest charge blade i have does 200.
am i underprepared for this shit?
make the elder cb from farming g rank ore
I agree, but I also feel like it's not worth genning sets for charms you don't have for that exact reason. I'd say Frontier did that whole system the best since you could make any "charm" or deco you wanted from monster parts and armor pieces, respectively.
Yes Frenzied monsters where fine, sometimes was even easier to fight the frenzied version over the normal one... But fuck Apex monsters, they had the need to rise the bar in difficulty and chose the worse alternative... although the upgrades whit frenzy gems where quite good, notoriously the one that can heal you depending of the damage dealt.
does wolfs maw have a MV penality or is it really just straight up double damage?
That sounds about right, but pretty much any G rank gear is going to be stronger than high rank gear. You should be fine until you upgrade either way though, I was able to start killing G rank monsters with underleveled cats
Emergency Retreat heals status too, but Soothing Roll makes you immune to roars and tremors, while Emergency Retreat is vulnerable to both. Soothing Roll's cancel still takes a while, and its windup is long too, so it's situational.
Soothing roll can be cancelled early with a dodge or an attack. You also have full invincibility during it. Emergency retreat only has a neutral wake up, and you can get roared out of it.
