Honestly one of the best games I played this generation, but I feel like it needed more to be a true masterpiece. More weapons and enemy variety maybe.

Both would have helped a lot.
When Kratos didn't pick up Magni's sword I was outraged.

That and while the ending fight was super cool it was a little repetitive. If they could keep the over the topness and vary it up a little more would be cool.

Also some of the hidden load times last like just SECOND to long which made it obvious and a little off putting. Like when they are in the giants hand at the end for example.

The enemy level system was clever. Each enemy felt very different to fight based on their health bar color strength indicator and they could use that to mix up encounters and gain a lot of mileage out of each enemy without having to create more art assets. For example two at-level enemy A's with one below-level enemy B felt like a totally different fight than two below-level enemy A's with one above-level enemy B.

Couldn't get into it at all after 2 hours.
What am I missing?

Not all games are for everyone. Instead of wasting more time trying to enjoy something that you don't like it's better to move on and find something else.

It was alright. Definitely my least favorite GoW.

It's trash

2 years of seething

played the first hour and it bored me

OP here, just kidding, it was shit

Does it really hurt you so badly you have to pretend to be another person to "set the record straight" because you can't accept someone elses opinion?

I don't understand the hype. The writing is above average, and it's well-paced storywise, but its gameplay is awkward with out of place RPG elements that only serve to bog down the experience. Had it been less cinematic, I doubt it would have garnered similar praise.

Just went through the first three games and now started playing this. I kind of get why people complained, Kratos is a completely different character and the setting is more generic. But I've been enjoying the fights more so far, especially fun when I encountered some level-6 enemies for example. Overall it feels more challenging then the previous games, which is better.
I was actually suprised how little there was considering how people complain. You get XP but it doesn't level up your character, you just buy out new skills so it's basically the same as in the last games. You upgrade weapons and armor though I feel that's mainly just because now the world is more open and this gives you some additional motivation (I hate how RDR2 for example basically gave you no motivation to explore and do side quests besides the story).

You're not really playing it until 5 hours in on Hard mode. That's when the game clicks.

I hated it.

It isn't *that* bad, but they nonetheless feel out of place. I suppose it's not as egregious as say, the game's reused bosses.

this series has always been a mediocre piece of shit that should have never existed past the ps2

And why shouldn't it exist? Plenty of people like it and it sells well enough. So what reason is there for it not to exist?

I don't know how one could find this one of the best games ever, everything about it aside from the graphics/voice acting is incredibly average and poorly executed.

I assume people newer to the medium who haven't played/experienced many games.

It's a boring game and an example of a needless revivial.

OP here. I've been playing games for about 24 years now and I still fully enjoyed it. Is it really so hard for you to understand that different people have different tastes?

It needed to cut the RPG elements completely they only exist to pad out the game time
Levels, armor, loot, side quests, it's all garbage
Also reusing most bosses multiple times felt very lazy, only the dragon and Magni and Modi were actually unique. Baldur and the valkyries were the only good bosses and they still lacked the presentation and visceral executions of the classic games.

I understand people have differing tastes, user. It just has a lot of fundamental problems with its gameplay, and its narrative isn't quite that profound to enjoy it on that basis alone. Then again, I am looking at this from the perspective of someone who has played thousands of games, and as a result, I probably am being biased.

OP here, I wish I could continue discussing this game with you guys but I need to take my wife's son to school now. Be back later.

ebin

Americans just love to inject their cuckold fetishes into everything. There's nothing you can do about it except to ignore it.

>Son of Wife
Looks like you haven't played many games this gen then.

It was at this moment I realized the game was shit

Ok lets see:
>shit camera. You rely on guide arrows constantly when fighting a crowd because its far too zoomed in.
>awful variety in enemies, especially bosses. You fight recolours of the same troll close to a dozen times.
>the most "spectacular" boss fight is right at the start and its basically a tutorial.
>the sense of scale is completely fucked. The entire game feels like it takes place in a tiny playground, it feels less adventurous than Resident evil 4 from fucking 2005.
>the whole "multiple worlds" aspect is a fucking joke. One of the "worlds" is literally just a fucking tube. The level design in general feels archaic with retarded obstacles and invisible walls everywhere. Kratos could jump over most things with ease, but, no, you must stick to the one singular path the developers thought was right
>the last hour is constant sequel baiting.
>MUH ONE CONTINOUS TAKE! .... is completely invalidated by the constant need to open menus to change/upgrade your gear, skills, etc. Cory Cumrag sacraficed playability for the sake of his retarded cinematic vision with the camera, but apparently had no qualms with the player constantly interrupting the game by opening menus. Also, these superficial rpg elements add fuck all to the game.
>literally ONE type of puzzle in the entire game. Are you fucking serious? The developers are so creatively bankrupt it actually hurts. It's either that or they aim for the lowest of the low retards.

but hey, it has nice graphics and Teal'c has a cool voice so i guess its amazing

Nothing. It's a game liked by low test beta males like OP

Yeah, I'm sure all those cuckold posters ITT are all very high test and not completely mentally retarded.

I find it hilarious that the developers were so lazy that they didn't just recolour the same troll boss 10 times, they also reused the exact same execution animation. It's kind of embarassing for a game that clearly aims to be the next coming of cinematic AAA garbage. Lol, dmc 5 which is infinitely more gameplay focused has far better and varied animation. And probably way less budget too.

I think it's just one user samefagging.

Sorry, by your retarded logic he represents all of you.

Nevermind, you don't need anyone else to represent you as low test / low iq spastic. You're doing it yourself already.

Unironically based. I have no idea why people ate this shit up. It's such a basic ass game with so many things missing.

lmao

You don't play many games, do you? Buy a PC and a Switch and start actually finding good games to play. GoW is derivative blandness.

Why would I need 2 PCs and 2 switches just to find out that barely anything else this gen was as good as gow. One of each is enough to tell me that already.

nothing really. i dont get the hype, the story wasn't good, the gameplay was mediocre at best, it had like 4 enemies total

What about Bloodborne?

What about it?

It's significantly better in terms of game design and is an overall very memorable experience. However, I assume you're more into narrative-driven games.

>It's significantly better in terms of game design and is an overall very memorable experience
Okay, and? What is the point you are trying to make here?
>However, I assume you're more into narrative-driven games.
Actually nevermind, I see you are making up your own reality as you go so I feel like I've already wasted too much time talking to you.

Then start playing more games. GoW does nothing all that great. The best parts of that game are all on Youtube anyway. You are super close minded and/or have shit taste if you seriously think GoW is the best game this gen. It wasn't even the best game of 2018.

I was merely asking a question, no reason to be holier than thou. I'm only trying to understand your perspective. Although, I suppose I did go on a pointless tangent.

Same thing happened to me, but then I hit a point where I got super invested, right after the light/dark elf thing. Although I think it was just because I found that area kinda boring.

>Then start playing more games
I have beaten almost everything I wanted this gen, my backlog is mostly full of stuff I don't really wanna play.
>GoW does nothing all that great
That's your opinion and it got nothing to do with me.
>The best parts of that game are all on Youtube anyway
Are you preemptively making an excuse because you haven't played it or something?
>You are super close minded and/or have shit taste if you seriously think GoW is the best game this gen
Who are you even talking to right now? I don't see a single person in this thread that claimed this.

>I was merely asking a question
Your question made no sense whatsoever. I can like god of war and bloodborne exists. Even if I didn't like god of war bloodborne would exist.

>hear of this really strong and dangerous bridge keeper
>get excited to fight him
>he's just another troll
The non-existent boss variety is the only major gripe i have with this game.

I haven't slept and realized that in retrospect.

I'll be more specific then. What to you makes God War one of the best games you've played this generation? Be it, personally speaking, objectively, etc.

The overall polish of the game. Not a single thing felt like it didn't belong, it hit the sweet spot for length and combat depth, it had some nice extra content in form of 2 challenge worlds and some of the bosses were amazing. I liked the world design aswell, giving you a central hub with optional stuff around it was a nice change of pace for a god of war game. It still needs more weapon and enemy variety compared to the older entries. What would've been great would be a valkyrie weapon, all 9 of them having completely different move sets and more different midstage bosses instead of just trolls.

name good games

You are not suppose to be rational on Yea Forums bro

>we have to scatter your mother ashes on top of the mountain
>you don't climb the mountain
>you fucking teleport to the top
if it was full trek there i would respect that game more, but any escort game where your companion can't die are trash by default to me, just like the last of us and bioshock infinite

Attached: 1538878333852.jpg (265x329, 10K)

the point of the game was to hype up the kid if he died what would happen? angry kratos bumfucks everything part 20?

Literally my favorite game of all time, nothing else comes close in terms of story telling and raw emotion. 10/10, I wish I could experience it for the first time all over again

I bet he won't take Myolnir in the sequel too.

I think it just needed more unique bosses

sadly they had to scrap game development fairly early on because they realised they were developing a trilogy in one game

still a top tier action game, enjoyed it a lot

>valkyries
I hated some of their fights. Why the fuck you could block attack when fighting Valkyrie A and when fighting Valkyrie B that same attack had red flash and was unblockable. Queen fight was alright, but her moveset was fucking bloated.

>>shit camera. You rely on guide arrows constantly when fighting a crowd because its far too zoomed in.
It kind of needs to be like that for the axe aiming.

>GoW does nothing all that great. The best parts of that game are all on Youtube anyway
The best parts are the valkyries and the side stuff. You can talk shit about the main game bosses and story all you like, but your argument all comes tumbling down when you say that about the game as a whole.

Although I didn't find it impressive, I'd agree that it is quite polished. It's definitely well-paced and doesn't try to waste your time outside of the walk and talk segments, that are admittedly more a pet peeve than a criticism.

My grievances came with the camera and lock-on system not being conducive of multiple enemy encounters (it's cumbersome to crowd control than it necessarily should), the scarce boss variety and the repurposing of trolls there-in, as well as the RPG elements which felt out of place but at the same time never too much of a hindrance on the experience.

Narratively I wasn't a fan, but I can be hard to please in that regard. I still see its merits and the fact that it's well-told, I just never personally found it too captivating.

>It wasn't even the best game of 2018.
What would you say was? Honestly feels like it was rather a weak year.

>And probably way less budget too
No probably about it the devs even said that Capcom were a bit tight with the budget.

It wasn't that bad.
>RDR2
>HITMAN 2
>Celeste
>SMASH
>MHW
>Spiderman for the cape shitter

Well I haven't played Spiderman and MHW and felt God of Water was a better game than the rest, even though I don't really think it was that great. Liked Bladed Fury even more, but that's pretty niche.
