Can I play porn VR games with a google cardboard and keyboard+mouse?
Been playing GMOTA in GZDoom VR after learning today that there's a newer branch than Fishbiter's version by some guy named hh79. Good stuff.
Hopes are that Half Life: Alyx is good.
Good games to play (some have mixed reviews but those are mostly from pre-patched versions of some of these and they're fine now):
Star Shelter
Into The Radius VR
Espire 1: VR Operative
Until You Fall
Ultrawings
Elite: Dangerous
SURV1V3
Windlands
>Any hopes?
Well we're probably getting the first Alyx gameplay footage today
Yes but the visual quality is gonna be shit

This one?
How do you set up the controls for Index?
Yeah, that one. As for setting up controls for index, I'm working off default "legacy bindings for index controllers". They actually don't translate too poorly in my experience.
Ah ok.
How many of the mods/map packs work on it?
Pretty much any mod that doesn't require more than a secondary fire. You might run into issues with some mods that don't have proper world weapon sprites so the really nice "fat item" weapon option might not be viable "crossed" is shit, you'll quickly see why
Heck, I've even used it with standalone total conversion mods that use GZDoom as a base, like Brutal Doom 64 and Nocturne in Yellow. Basically all you have to do is get ZDL, run the VR sourceport through that the same way you run the non VR GZDoom, load the .pk3s and .wads, and you're good to go. It's basically regular GZDoom, but VR. The main limitation you will run into is the control scheme, Secondary fire needs to be manually bound. Aside from that and a few non intrusive visual bugs occasionally, I have run into very few compatibility issues.
Cool
When does VR finally become more than something for playing tech demos?
When the PSVR exclusives get ported
I'll have a better answer to that when you qualify when exactly a game stops being a tech demo and starts becoming an actual game
>Can I play porn VR games with a google cardboard and keyboard+mouse?
depends
I think virt-a-mate requires motion controllers
Beat Saber
Moss is pretty cute too but short
Have you played Audica?
I'm going through the Half-Life series in VR as prep for HL:A
march 23
I don't get why people do this.
Play the first Half Life sure, but why Half Life 2, Alyx is a prequel....
>why Half Life 2, Alyx is a prequel....
Valve still said you should make sure to play Episode 2 before Alyx so there might be more to it.
Really, where did they say this.
Shit, looks like I gotta1replay them if Gabe tells me to
They're all free until Alyx's launch so you don't have an excuse not to.
Hey fuck you, I'm Valves biggest fan boy and have completed them multiple times already.
>Any hopes?
Just Alyx, but I don't think it will suddenly make VR any less dead in the long run.
It'll start a wave of interest.
We already saw how headsets ran out of stock after the Alyx reveal
I'm willing to accept 2016-2020 was an early adopter phase if Valve fucking fixes their thumbsticks.
They fixed the clicking but the drift is still an issye
I'm never gonna comfortably click a thumbstick ever again thanks to Valve.
