>want to show support for turn based crpgs >but also want to avoid showing support for 5th edition rules and lore Why must I constantly support things I hate to support less popular things I like.
Also I am just watching the reveal footage now and I notice the dude says body type instead of gender which is concerning, but at least it actually says male and female on the character creation screen itself, animal crossing doesn't even have that.
Kind of disappointing we didn't get to see more of the character creation since they are going with one of the premades although it is cool that they are voiced since they seem to be from your potential party members, I will probably still custom make something though.
Also does it have a rtwp mode tacked on or not? The screen shots I have seen that have the word turn based lead me to believe they do but with the sheer level of rage from real time fans over it I am not so sure, turn based fags seemed ecstatic just to have it tacked on in wrath so I would assume real time fags would also be happy just to have the option as well even if it's not the focus.
Oh and also that cutscene with the dragons and shit was super cool, makes me wonder if they are testing the waters for a proper movie set in a d&d setting.
Carson Lee
No rtwp.
>the dude Excuse me, do you have time to talk about our Lord and Savior, Swen?
Evan Miller
>No rtwp. A good reason I will buy it even though i'm not sure I really want to.
Elijah Mitchell
I just want dragons to fuck, I like larians gameplay and design philosophy and I like 5e
Oh I see, the turn based notice is for an out of combat turn based movement for stealth, those leaks were an excellent way to raise and then dash the hopes of real time fans.
Christian Allen
>>but also want to avoid showing support for 5th edition rules and lore Isn't 5th edition a return to form compared to 4th edition?
Asher Reyes
With the premade characters I wonder if we will be able to take certain parts from them for our custom characters, in particular I would like to make my own vampire spawn character and still get some of the bonus dialogue related to that. The legwork is already put in with the premade so it should be easy for them to add the ability for any character to have it.
Justin Roberts
Of course not. Either you play their characters or you miss out on content. Have fun!
Austin Richardson
Nigger calm your tits, it's not gonna have to do much with DnD and 5e. It's mainly divinity original sin 3 and therefore will be, unlike dnd, a fun and quality product with a lot of production value, amazing combat and motivating story.
Dylan Ross
This looks like shit Why are they calling it Baldurs Gate
Easton Fisher
The whole origin character thing with unique content is such a mistake. Made even more frustrating by how close they were to making them not only unnecessary, but getting everyone they did but better. And that's the tag system. Instead of unique origin characters, they should have unique story tags.
So instead of say, having a super special unique origin Red Prince character. They should have simply made Red Prince a tag and allow you to apply that to any red lizard.
Anthony Reyes
>Everyone shits on 4th edition >Been a few years since 5th edition launched >Checked prices on used 4th edition books, figure I can pick them up for like $5 each like I did with old 3rd edition books when 4th was coming out >They're all still expensive REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Surely I can't be the only guy who thinks that banner looks exactly like the DOS2 banner right? Was this game a repurposed sequel or something?
Blake Morales
Well yeah but still not as good as the other 3 editions Speaking of is grease flammable in 5e? I am pretty sure that was just a common houserule in 3e but it seems to be in this game.
Levi Foster
It does, yes. Swen needs to flog his art team.
Leo Wright
It's the poses and general color scheme. I honestly hate how "colorful" that game was. It felt way too cartoony somehow.
I tried so hard to like the divinity games. I just can't get into them. It's a shame I'll have to pass on this, I love Baldurs Gate not including Siege of Dragonspear.
>not including Siege of Dragonspear I find that odd, I actually love Dragonspear. The story's unneeded and stupid, and some of the general design feels too modern, but I was really pleasantly surprised with the encounter design. I actually thought it beat the shit out of the PoE games, honestly.
Aiden Bennett
What doesn't beat the shit out of PoE?
Evan Watson
You know thinking about it, it was inevitable WotC would give Baldur's Gate 3 to Larian. >Larian Coming of a large success and popularity. >Owlcat I've heard good things but they are still fresh off their very first game and too green. >Beamdog Has a huge negative reputation and image of ruining Baldur's Gate with their Enhanced Editions. >Obsidion A likely choice with their big name but hit with a string of unpopular and poorly received games. >Bethesda Does their own things and not likely interested.
And most all other choices like inXile would be way too small a studio.
Is there anyone else I may have forgotten?
Asher Gray
Hairbrained Schemes. I legit enjoyed the Shadowrun games and so far I think they captured a cyberpunk feel game than what 2077 has showed so far. A shame about their recent game and the SJW shit in it though
Benjamin Gutierrez
They probably would have the same deal as inXile and be passed for being too small.
Dominic Edwards
How about just not use the baldurs gate name, seems like a skeezy marketing ploy
Cooper Rivera
Probably most Bioware stuff. I'd still prefer the Bioware stuff for story but gameplay I'd say PoE's still better. Maybe Tyranny, that's probably worse. I liked some parts of it but I'm more likely to play PoE and just smash 1 through all the dialog.
PoE's not the absolute worst when it comes to party-based RPGs but it's still fairly low.
Joshua Gomez
Larian is the best pick for it, but like said I'd be happier if they just made a new Forgotten Realms RPG and didn't stick BG on there. BG name has two things going for it, brand recognition (Minor, but zoomers probably have heard their Youtubers talk about it and thus think it's good) and BG specifically fits Larian well since it tends to go heavier on the humor than most D&D things, much like Larian.
Wyatt Carter
I don't know how to describe it, PoE just feels too sanitary. Divinity also has a similar feel, I can't get into their worlds.
Jonathan Kelly
Well blame WotC for that I guess. I still stand that this game literally looks like a repurposed Original Sin 3 game.
Justin Mitchell
>Divinity also has a similar feel, I can't get into their worlds. It's actually "pretty"gory but due to the art direction, all the sick shit you see in the game ends up looking like an itchy and scratchy cartoon so you can't take it seriously.
Alexander Lee
It does, and that's a huge turn off. Seeing animations I'm getting Dragon Age 2 vibes from its characters
That's just most modern games in general. It's odd, but even though the old BG games were still big marquee games back in the day (They weren't lookers even at the time, but they were still a big fucking deal) they still have a more personal feel to them, even compared to most indie-games now. They tend to feel more uneven, more like you're playing D&D with another nerd across a table and sometimes there's humor and bad jokes, sometimes there's bad drama and romance, but it tends to shift quick enough that you don't get as much of a consistent tone.
Divinity wobbles between humor and seriousness more but it does it (In my opinion of course) in a more mechanical way. Main quest serious, side quest silly, essentially. And PoE slavishly tries to stick to tone because of the head autist running it, that postenago.
Levi White
I actually wouldn't be surprised if BG3 was a DivOS 3 game that was hastily repurposed as a D&D game. Because the other explanation is that Larian is very lazy and uninspired with their art design.
Landon Price
They don't call them jews of the coast for nothing
