use herbs/scrap/iron to spam upgrade if you dont have an easy recipe to spam for levels, for weapons you need to have skill in that weapon to earn recipes from bread, yes its retarded, since you can still make any of them with the proper skill level

Small wools you can always just get from woolys outside of town. Scrap just as easily. What you want to save are medium sized materials because they are limited for every monster. After a short while all they give you is large. Medium is specifically required for a few recipes.

Items that are a bit out of your reach in the very beginning. The 3rd boss however is easier to get since you can throw an apple pie at it and those are relatively easy to get. I savescummed a couple times till I got her. Make sure you brush them until they stop making the music note icon and give them the item.

I think the ship for a Trio of Towns port has sailed by now unfortunately. They've put out 3 Bokujou games since Trio (2 main and the bamco doraemon game). Trio was the 20th anniversary game though, so if ports do eventually happen it has a better chance than some of the other older titles.

You could always emulate it. It runs just as good if not slightly better than 3ds last time I checked. Some occasional dips under 30 but nothing atrocious.

AI's sadly set in stone, most villager AI tends to either attack and run back or attack and keep attacking til the targets dead and run back, fortes sadly of the former variety.

Animals tend to follow how they behave on the field, so cows/chickens are pretty laid back/slow to attack if they do at all
