what kind of stupid shit is this? why can't he just heal himself back into shape?

Because he's busy fending off the hordes of demons his faggot son let in

'cause he gay

Are the space marines literal sons (biological descendants) or figurative sons

more like grandchildren

is the emperor even alive/conscious anymore?

What happened to his sword after the heresy?

No he just keeps the Astronomican going with his psycker powers but his physical body long gone.

>why can't he just heal himself back into shape
The Emperor's soul is gestating in the warp as he is currently on the verge of death. The entire Imperium is feeding him their collective energy and he is gathering their souls to him and is becoming a human chaos god the same way slaanesh was created by the Eldar except he is in full control of the process. It's been strongly hinted at that the horus heresy was his plan all along and taking the fight to the warp was always his endgame, all the chaos gods did was up his timetable and force him to take extreme measures (like building the golden throne.)
Or to put it simply, you're talking a lot of shit for being on the kiekaku

propaganda

big if true

supposedly his mind has been fractured and are practically separate entities now
I think he had it with him on the throne, recently Robot Girlyman nicked it and uses it now.

why don't they get rid of his body then? can he not communicate with other psykers?

If this turns out to be true I'll never shit on WH40k writing ever again

it's probably some headcannon shit, dunno wtf he's talking about
>implying wh40k will ever move on from "emperor is a vegetable lol" status quo

It used to be vague and implied he was just dead by the original creators but he has full on conversations and nukes people with his powers from across the galaxy these days because the new writers are complete hacks

Attached: kirbydessert.jpg (840x560, 60K)

Primarchs: genetically engineered clone sons
Spess mehreens: random dudes who are implanted with a Primarch's genetic material (geneseed) as teenagers and gradually augmented into supersoldiers.

>why don't they get rid of his body then?
They simply lack any knowledge of what will happen if the emperor dies and since he's powering the most important thing in the history if mankind that would completely ruin destroy the imperium if it ever went out they just let him sit.

eventualy they will launch warhammer 50k user

>retconning a rich universe with a long history teeming with stories and heroes and villians and retconning it all into being one faggot mary sues master plan
I actually can't think of a worse direction to take 40k in

I think in dark imperium its said that hes basically is like a deafening lightbulb possibly even stronger than he was before or incapable of holding the many filters he held before to masquerade himself, which is hinted at in corus corvax works wherein corvus saw him as a man in a projection

half grandkids

this is so fucking bullshit that im realy sad is not real because is fucking brilhant

Heals wont be legit unless the Ultra Smurfs do it. That seems to be the direction of 40k these days

They kidnap children and give them surgery to turn them into soldiers. Part of this surgery is giving them genetic data from the primarchs, who the Emperor grew in a lab and considers his sons.

at first it was unknown by by the time of Inquisitor series it was known he is conscious though his mind his fractured and more recently he has been much more active possibly due to the warp fucking up everything more then usual

Some of them

Attached: 6867.jpg (966x438, 48K)

isnt the process voluntary?
they send their children to become space marines and having one of the suceed is considered a great honor to the family?

>a cool setting in which you create your own stories and characters fighting in the wreckage of an ancient dying empire, the real gods and heroes all dead, and only mortals with insane acts of heorism desperately holding off the darkness for just one more day
>DUDE WOULDN'T IT BE COOL IF ACTUALLY IT WAS JUST ABOUT ONE SPACE MARINE LOL AND HE WAS PERFECT AND SAW THE FUTURE
go read a marvel comic or something you faggot

The new event, Psychic Awakening, seems to be heading in that direction where more humans are awakening psyker powers, the various eldar factions are having a civil war, more tyranids are pouring into the galaxy, more necrons are waking up, the tau are looking to expand but are blindsided by the cicatrix maledictum and Mortarion, orkz are getting more brutally kunnin and gathering for a massive WAAGH, loyalist primarchs are slowly coming back while the chaos primarchs begin making their moves, but most importantly imperial forces are claiming that golden eagles and angelic warriors have been turning up to help them in combat.

Every marine chapter does their recruiting process differently. Some of them hold tournaments, some of them show up on tribal battlefields to scoop up the best fighters, others just straight up kidnap people.

it's an extremely subtle jesus allegory

They thought he was a vegetable but they gave him a TTS machine

If youre too go off of bullymans revelations in dark imperium plague ear the emperor is just humanities therapist trying to both fight chaos and affect humanity in a way that the spiritual malady is disspelled. This is all against the backdrop of the emperor burning a girls soul to smithereens as he banishes a field of plague spawn.

>40K End Time
>rest of the Tyranids show up
>Ghaz becomes the avatar of Gork and Mork
>All of the Necrons wake up
>Eldar get eaten by Slaanesh but they're faggots so no one cares, anyway warp stuff
>Daemon Primarchs unite and invade physical realm
>Tau

the whole apeal of W40k is that your story is meaningless to the whole empire user
fuck your own stories and shit they mean nothing
your entire planet can be exterminatus and fuck you

so yeah having the entire fucking thing being a plan by the god emperor hinself would be great
because that would trully show that everything else was usuless

the TRUE 40k experience.
you mean nothing.

Depends on chapter. Not every chapter lets their battlebrothers return to their families and many, especially in crusading chapters like the Black Templars, must put behind their homes or tribes when they accept becoming a Spess Mehreen.

Meaningless because a fuckup of mythological proportions condemned the galaxy to death and meaningless because it's some anime master plan are two different kinds of meaningless

>Sly Marbo becomes a sphess muhreen

>various eldar factions are having a civil war
Why the fuck would the eldar fight each other? Dont they all get eaten and tortured by slannesh when they die why would they kill each other?

>Why the fuck would the eldar fight each other?
Same reason why humans IRL fight one another? It's not like death is pleasant for us either

Tell me about the Blood Ravens. Why has does nobody beats the shit out of them for being relic thiefs?

Because they're worst faction

Not when at present the emperor is characterized as being like an ai that's more a spiritual force than a person reaching fulfillment. In that scenario its just a presentation of collective will depreciating individual experiences in opposition to entropic forces. Its all elemental and as thus not human.

Why would people beat them up for accepting gifts?

Fuck Leandros.

>imperial guardsmen all become space marines
>space marines all become primaris marines
>primaris marines all become primarchs
>primarchs all become the Emperor
>the Emperor becomes the Emper-er

Same way no one knows Blood Angels lose their mind and drink blood, Space Wolves are literally furries, and that Dark Angels are actually traitors.

For the sake of the story.

eldar can deny slaanesh by putting their souls into spirit stones

Where did Morty fuck up because I’m reading this guy’s story and I’m getting pretty “did nothing wrong” vibes

That's the problem, the dumbass nu lore has him as a person reaching fulfillment rather than the core of a religion people have to have faith in without evidence, because it's all they've got.

Saying a prayer to the Emperor for safety and having the aquila on your uniform block a fatal bullet is religious kino, having the Emperor posses people so he can fling psychic nukes is just wizard shit, not Faith.

He fucked up by joining the side that was filled to the brim with shit he hated and later on thought he could control it, it was just asking to bite him and his legion in the ass which it did

Imagine it did have a sequel and three endings.
1. None Purer - You prove your loyalty to the Emperor and are gifted an Iron Halo
2. Faith Is Weak - Your actions are questionable and the Inquisition finds you wanting, get killed by an assassin
3. Death to The False Emperor - You go full heretic and join a Chaos warband

Mortarian is the saddest sack of shit on the entire traitor primarch team, he got absolutely cucked and upstaged by a regular captain and forcibly enslaved by chaos.

weren't marines suspected of corruption supposed to be handed to chaplins? why'd leandros call the inquisition

The Inqusition is fully within its authority to investigate and condemn Astartes

>no ARPG/TPS where you play as Garivel Loken fucking up non-compliant heretics with your Mournival bros

yeah but doesn't the codex say to hand corrupted marines to the chaplins?

If your boss is rogue, and his other troops still seem loyal to him, reporting him to one of his subordinates would hardly be effective

Oh no im referencing nulore. Thats the thing, Gulimans conversations painted the emperor even to him as being so inhumane that it was revolting, the only personal aspect that could be ascribed is more thar the emperor intended to be the solvent to remedy that fuckup. There's hardly even a sense of self interest, more the emperor seeing himself as a tool. Like i haven't read past dark imperium plague war so if there's been another retcon i apologize.

Because he's that big of a faggot and could have gotten them all killed.

They are but they usually avoid it due to how much power and prestige marines have especially with First Founding chapters which just makes the case even weirder since the Inquisition would probably never dare try interfere with the Ultramarine when they could do it themselves

sort of both, since they all have daddy emprah's DNA in some manner.

The Dark Eldar don't really give a shit and are fighting the Craftworlders and Ynnari for the prospect of more slaves and trophies. Their leadership however wants revenge on the Ynnari as their leader Yvraine unintentionally let in hordes of daemons into Comorragh.

Craftworlders don't trust the Ynnari who basically want to skip the whole prophecy and summon Ynnead on their terms, especially when the Ynnari are getting chummy with mon'keigh primitives. A lot of Craftworlders also left to join the Ynnari, deepening the rift between them and the Ynnari.

Ynnari (including Harlequins and Corsairs) want to fully empower Ynnead and defeat Slaanesh, but are a new faction among the Eldar, so they recruit whoever they can among the Craftworlders and Dark Eldar. Their willingness to work with primitives also didn't grant them any favors with their hardline relatives.

Are there even normal people in the wh40k world? Or is it 100% soldier fanatics

Of course, their lives just generally suck.

There are agri-worlds and paradise worlds that aren't complete shit, but are still expected to send troops and food as tithes.
Eldar Exodites are Tree Elves in SPACE and have relatively peaceful lives, but don't hesitate to fight back against invaders with laser lancers on dinosaurs.

bump

There are trillions of normal people on agricultural medieval to cyberpunk techie worlds, it's just they're never the center of attention when it comes to wh40k story telling. Most of those worlds though - under the imperium - are chinese tier slums and everyone except the very wealthy/royals want to die.

Yes but not in realspace just in the immaterium

t. tzeentch

>the whole apeal of W40k is that your story is meaningless
the whole appeal of W40k is all about YOUR DUDES, the story is just a fucking backdrop.

Attached: 1482308987437.jpg (1659x1357, 323K)

Space marines are half clones of primarchs.
They are born like normal humans, but the upgrade process invloves overriding a large part of their DNA with primarch clone DNA.
Some aspects of their physical appearance will change to be similar to that of their associated primarch, while gaining 3ft in height and 300% muscle mass

Yes, there are even worlds comparable to ours with a democratically elected planetary governor. But you never hear about them because that's not interesting unless shit goes down like an ork invasion

Yes, but if the story becomes about how everything is just an irrelevant diversion to the Emperor saving the galaxy then the story is no longer a backdrop

There are penty of normal people. Trillions. Thing is that the imperiam owns 3/4s of the galaxy and is a big place.
Most normies live misrable lives in factories or arguably worse, filling out never ending pointless paperwork in the administration. However there are places better then others, if your wealthy or live in speific areas then its not so bad, earth, mars, ultramar and some others have pretty comfortable quaility of life for the normie of 40k.
There are also places nocture or nostromo, which are just gotham city on a planetary scale.

If that is his plan now, then it's a backup plan. Before the Heresy, the Emperor's plan was to use the Webway to replace Warp travel. Without the need for psyker Navigators and Astropaths, he would use blanks to breed Mankind into a soulless species. And the chaos gods would starve to death.

Cawl is litetarly just mechanicus doctor who.

Slasneesh and nurgle would still exist, slasneesh is equally tied to the eldar, and nurgle will exist because entropy, everything eventually dies or breaks

Attached: 1582764835370.jpg (857x933, 151K)

Nocturne is mostly fine because you have the most bro tier Astartes stationed there, barring the terrible heat, constant volcanic eruptions and giant salamanders.
Nostromo was such a cesspit that Kurze hated it and everyone of his men who were recruited from it, and finally exterminatus'd it in the Horus Heresy.

Yes but it makes me laugh so I saved it

They'll throw a battlebarge full of astartes and melta charges at it.

That dude's art is great.

Makes me wonder how many of them would actually be able to make it as Chaos gods.

Attached: D5WTra2XsAA6Vbs.jpg (859x1200, 99K)

can you fucking imagine if the admechs got a hold of one
now that's something I'd pay to see

They killed the World Engine so they could probably manage it again at significant cost

Chaos gods come from emotion, and entropy isn't and emotion user. Without the fear of disease and decay Nurgle will be gone.

Depends on how they'd do with reverse engineering it.

Also depending on if they had something like Star Dream also inside it. It could travel through the Warp with literal no risk and could spawn so much useful shit that it'd instantly give anyone who used it a really fucking unfair advantage. If Haltmann was abusing it just to make money, imagine what actual fucking waring factions can use with it.

Attached: StarDreamSoulOS.PNG.png (767x869, 775K)

About four quadrillion imperial citizens
Several hundred trillion guardsman
About a million spess mehreens
Can anyone explain me this shit? How the fuck are they going to make a difference?

Yes, the problem is that even if you find yourself on a peaceful world and live a happy life eventually some Ork, Tyranid, Dark Elf or Chaos thing will turn up and kill you then your spend eternity as some demons toy because the warp is fucked.

Chaos gods always existed as concepts. Emotions only power them and give them form, so starving them of emotion is either going to diminish their power back to primitive times or force them to fuck off to a different universe if you go by certain fluff.

Drachenfels predates the chaos gods, Slaanesh was literally birthed by a sentient race. I'm sure this "certain fluff" isn't from some splatbook from the 80's only one person bought.

>Wall-name: Adorable

Attached: oldon.png (500x500, 135K)

Even if he did get a healthy body there's no one else qualified to man the Astronomican.

nulore horus heresy stuff says slaanesh was born before the eldar and is actually eternal because non linear time or some retarded nonsense

There's Magnus, but Emps would just have to beat his daemon prince ass and turn him into a constantly suffering living battery.

>rich universe with a long history teeming with stories and heroes and villians
lmfao

Think of it as their births meaning 'gaining sentience', but ultimately the gods have always existed.

I thought the webway was meant to be co-opted so the astronomican isn't required, since you only need it for warp travel

The human part of the webway was flooded with demon dicks due to Magnus's fuckery, so it's worthless right now. Unless they changed that in the lore recently or something.

It was, until Magnus fucked it up and the Emperor was forced to sit on the Golden Throne to stop daemons from overrunning the imperial palace. Also the reason why Malcador had to take his place when the Emperor headed off to fight Horus in the Vengeful Spirit, though Malcador couldn't handle the strain and crumbled to dust when the battle was over.

the grey knigths and custodes are quite a rare thing tho, since they technically dont have the geneseed of any primarch
it is said that their geneseed is from the emperor himself, so they are closer to being primarch than space marines

The horus heresy writers don't really know what they're doing and keep retconning stuff

Yes actually, the odds of being born in a desolated dump is actually quite low and if you are born there, the only thing you need to be wary of are gangs and mutants, and that's only if you are dumb enough to venture in a underhive or unlucky enough to be born there. Life as a middle class imperial which are the majority in hive worlds is often plain and simple if boring and repetitive with your average wage, average working job and with your average necessities in life such as TV or food, and since there is always a demand for workers at some level, unemployment ratios would actually be quite small. while the Imperium looks like a merciless and oppressive empire it is in fact a confederation of several powerful organizations and a million planets. It occupies a strange place in between libertarian paradise as planets have a fair bit of autonomy, and oppressive theocracy as the imperium's main policy for what a world does under their control is pay the tithe, send your psykers over when the black ships show up, and don't make me come over there. Each normal planet in the Imperium besides specially classified planets like forge worlds, fortress worlds, death worlds etc. has its own laws, government, culture and social order that can differ from one another by a lot. Just like today's countries some have merciless dictators and some have democracy to an extent where citizens can choose their own head of government. each planet itself is actually quite independent to the extent where they can have their own armed forces and even wage their own civil wars. Due to this, the Imperium only cares when some serious shit happens like xenos invasion, corruption by eldritch horrors from beyond space and time, or when a planetary governor decided to declare himself independent of the Imperium, and given that this is the Imperium, these kinds of things vary from happening by on a regular basis to not seeing an actual war for multiple millennia.

>has many minds absorved into his own
that sounds more like the master of fallout

Amazing how cawl still keeps his fapping arm

>what is tzeench?
fucking casual

he would probably return to his original form tho
the chaos gods were once more purer versions of themselves that werent really sentient, just natural forces

imagine beating tzeench in his own game
now thats some really 2000000000+IQ move right there

This, the emperor probably had the backup plan since he knew the primarchs had a chance of turning to chaos after the chaos forces kidnaped them when they were still gestating
he didnt wanted to believe it at first thought, at least, not that his favored son Horus of all would fall like that (maybe angron, lorgar or that nerd magnus, but not horus, that was a low blow for him)

pls rspond

The chaos gods are linked to the thoughts and emotions of *all* sapient forms of life, not just humans.
Turning all of humanity into blanks will, at best, only make dealing with humans way more trouble than its worth, causing the denizens of the warp to avoid interacting with them.
However, as long as there are other thinking, feeling lifeforms populating the galaxy the Immaterial will be sustained.

>civil war
that could be enough for the imperium to give a look tho, at least the inquisition would definitely would check out if its not because of chaos corruption

care to reformulate your question? i didnt get what you are actually asking

Of course they would keep tabs on it, they just won't interfere if the result is just a new imperial planetary governor

its funny cause it almost look like the chaos gods we know only mess with the species of the milky way galaxy, what about the other galaxies?

>subordinates
I don't think a chaplin was a subordinate to non heretic man

100 space marines can make a difference because you can only fit so many bad guys on a planet. If there was a pitched battle between all good and bad guys they wouldn't do much, but there's not location big enough.

On Armageddon, there was probably only enough space for armies of 40 million or so, and 1 space marine can probably kill about about 100 orcs a day, so they start to make a difference.

It's also a matter of tactics, space marines are used to go after critical infrastructure, like commando teams in wwii.

That's not really got anything to do with the fact that Nurgle comes from the fear of death and decay, not the actual death and decay. Therefore not eternal.

Already eaten by Tyranids, the Milky Way is all that's left

There's literally billions of trained guardsman and trillions of humans per space marine. How are they in any capacity to make a big difference at all?

sci fi writers have no sense of scale

kinda convoulted plan to have been his original plan, i think that was a backup just in case

because space marines can do things that guardsmen can't. Space marines aren't meant to be the main imperial army, they're and elite force. Space marines are a scalpel, the guard is a hammer

make a big difference in what? who? the space marines? they are specialists, they make shit done better than anyone
the common human soldiers are just meat for the meat grinder and drown their enemies with their own blood and corpses

this, space marines are special forces, more like the navy seals in real life, though during certain crusades, old and new, they could field a large number of units and make shit done even faster than the guardsmen

i would say the marines are more like a piercing bullet, and the scalpel are the assasins

>i would say the marines are more like a piercing bullet, and the scalpel are the assasins

Attached: 1576530480374.jpg (418x475, 34K)

Nerds online trying to rationalize 40k talk about space marines as the scalpel but all their depictions in the fiction and tabletop and videogames have them fighting pitched battles with big armies

>Already eaten by Tyranids, the Milky Way is all that's left
that... would make 40k universe even more bleak than what it looks at first sight
to think the species fighting for survival in the milky way galaxy are the only species left in the whole universe aside from tyranids
i dont quite buy it, is there a place where this is stated as official?

It's a problem of scale, while 200 smurfs are duking it out trying to assassinate a warboss for example there may very well be 200 MILLION guardsmen trying to stem the tide of the rest of the greenskins invading.

>tau are the "smart" army and fight at a distance
>always shown fighting at spitting distance

Attached: 1039103.jpg (1280x916, 253K)

big is a relative term

You're free to imagine the guardsmen offscreen in your tabletop games but the books just flat out don't mention anyone but the marines most of the time and they somehow pacify planets of billions of people on their own, or stand toe to toe with tyranid swarms.

>big armies
armies that look big but are really small compared to any other, remember that guardsmen send literal millions if not billions to battle, while the marines just sent less than 1000 because chapters are only 1000 men only now

that's because space marines are overpowered. Plus, you could probably cripple an entire planet by killing about 1000 people. It really wouldn't be that hard for a few hundred space marines to subjugate a planet

>tfw no Enslaver Plague horror vidya
Just give me money and a studio, I'll do it.

Attached: 1496489455527.jpg (619x453, 28K)

What vidya races do you guys think would fit perfectly in Warhammer? My nomination goes for pic related.

>literally infinite in number, and have an entire universe filled with them
>military is filled with monsters that know only hate for non-seraphim life
>scouting force into our universe involved several thousand bombers, each the size of a small continent (Ahwassa tier experimentals)
>genocided trillions of lives from every other faction
>most recognizable experimental (aka the ythotha) is even more powerful than an imperial titan, and can be mass produced laughably easy

These guys are basically the numbers of the tyranids, mixed with the fighting bloodshed of the orcs, and the religious fanaticism of the tau.

Attached: Seth-Iavow.jpg (1024x1335, 344K)

No, I'm just making shit up. But the space between galaxies is to much for any sort of travel, even warp travel, afaik the Tyranids go into hibernation for billions of years to get to the Milky Way from where they are now.

I don't know why people imply WH40K is dead.

There has unironically been more writing in the last twenty years than was before those twenty years.

Anyone born in the 80s and 90s could tell you updates rarely happened to the story.

I mean fuck Dark Imperium literally just came out in 2017.
Ultramarines are back.
First major crusade in over 10k years is happening.

It's been thirty fucking years since we've seen that kind of development.
Fuckoff newfags.

Only newfags and smurfs like it.

Story updates and development are bad, expanding new corners of the galaxy into entire settings of their own like FFG did was the best way to handle 40k.

>any picture of them "fighting" would be just them shooting off screen
>why do people always try to get within melee range of them?

How can you *finally* see something new when you just got here?

>never mentioned
>guardsmen books exist
Depends on what books you are reading. I've seen books jump between different fronts in the same war. Some wars are specifically stated to span the whole planet especially when they are fighting chaos or cults.

You ought to read the Forges of Mars series, they're pretty good at depicting the imperial forces working together. Also it's a great series in general you should read it

They sent out a probe or some satellite to some of the other galaxies, the only response they got was WAAAGH or something like that IIRC
