He was literally running windows through a VM running linux to host his shit which caused ungodly lag sometimes. y'vvel here. my server is laggy because of my build, not my connection. im running what is essentially a server built purely for TF2 and gmod at their absolute bare minimum and nothing else. before i lost access to my old xeon rig, i used to have no problems with hosting, but most of the games i host on variety night simply generally just don't cooperate with my zen server all too well. older games don't like modern processers, and that's a bulk of what i host. the source engine is also incredibly unoptimized for large multiplayer servers and struggles beyond 24 players on a majority of games. i am also not on broadband and have been using fiber optics for about 7+ years now. i appreciate that you want to make me look like a retard on the internet, means a lot, but im the closest thing the van has to an actual dedicated server host with no actual limitations on what we can play/host.

Sappy was hosting using a really unorthodox setup. He was hosting a Linux virtual machine on a windows server. Windows server isn't exactly a well oiled computing machine and has a lot of issues with VMs

32/32 servers shouldn't have this issue. I played Sven Coop for years upon years and servers usually ran fine. This wasn't. People were seeing two particular pings that boosted past 1000 outside of the usual 400-700. That's fucking bunkers.
Kudos to Chug hosting, but I'm not going to sit around and say "yeah, everything is fine!" while input lag is so bad that it makes Brazilian dialup blush.

so, fun fact. goldsrc is an ancient engine and it, in order to run at max efficiency, would need of era hardware that used to be top tier. most early era id tech origin engine games, q3 and early valve titles, really struggle with newer tech. its like an elderly person trying to use the internet efficiently, it just doesn't fucking happen. iirc chug is running a pretty high end modern rig and there's bound to be a lot of issues. i know when I've tried to host quake 3 myself that the server flat out fails to recognize my cpu correctly and just assumes its something else from the era.

server fucking sucked, but thats the SOUL of it to be honest.
Besides, we only have 2 nigga's who can actively host and chug's done a fine job hosting so far, but some games like sven and gmod are naturally laggy with a fuckton of people. Theres no way to avoid it (gmod literally cant go above 40 players without lagging to high hell unless you have a super computer dedicated to hosting it)

Blue Shift is horrible to coop. Tiny fucking maps and about 10 second intervals before loading a new one. It desperately needs someone to combine them now that Sven supports much larger entity and brush limits.
