There was, on the 64, and it was horrible.

The original batman animated series was only meant to be a tie in to burton's 89 movie, could of easily just been a shitty action figure commercial. Beyond had an even worse origin: Bruce Timm and his team got pulled into an executive's office and was told to make a "TEENAGE BATMAN" show. Something about the current animated series not having enough appeal to a young audience despite the fact the new batman adventures had a kid tim drake robin as one of the main characters.

Batman Beyond is almost always under order and surveillance of Bruce Wayne. It causes many conflict with Bruce. At the same time, Terry fears that he cannot meet the expectation of Bruce and cannot handle the duty and burden of being batman.
Perer Parker doesn’t have anyone on his back but doesn’t have much to fall to for advice and support. He’s mostly alone in his double life.

I think he's talking about what Justice League Unlimited did with Terry's character. In actuality he's an illegitimate child of Bruce as part of some secret project to ensure there'd always be a Batman. Lot of fans feel it undid the entire purpose of him becoming Batman in the first place.

Some of these are literally split timelines, and different characters entirely. Ashe/Grey can't really be called Megaman. Same as Zero. Either way though, the jump from Zero to ZX reminds me a lot of this, actually. I think a lot of people disliked the jump from Zero, to Vent/Aile using the souls of Zero/X to become a power ranger version of them.
