Other good western artists I wish modern devs would pull from: Frank Frazetta, Luis Royo, Romulo Royo, Victoria Frances.

I posted the western art you didn't like. Personally, while I enjoy western art, there are great eastern artists out there. I don't take your example to be one of them, but that's neither here nor there, given I don't feel eastern art would fit a western RPG, especially when modern western devs already seem keen to ignore some of the great western artists they could be pulling from to create truly, visually striking games.

My hope for the future of western RPGs is that a western studio looks at one of the greats seriously, takes inspiration from their work, and reveals a western RPG that look like one of the old paintings brought to life in game. Perhaps we aren't quite there, hardware-wise, yet, but I do hope to see it just once, at least, before I die.
