People use much lower standards to rate them. So when you go in expecting the rating to be honest, you are sorely disappointed.
That's my experience with indies, anyway.

I've been playing Battle Brothers, Everspace and Amid Evil lately, they're all great games. Less so than in other recent years, but I've also had way less time to play games lately.
