I GOT THAT REFERENCE
I KNOW WHAT THAT IS
I GOT THAT REFERENCE
I KNOW DARK SOULS!!!
I CLAPPED WHEN I SAW THE RED LETTER MEDIA MEME
I’M GONNA COME
The """criticism""" against Dark Souls 3 is so weak. If you can't use anything concrete against it, it tells you how good it is.
Dark Souls: Soul
Dark Souls 3: Soulless
OLD THING! I RECOGNIZE OLD THING!
You’re acting like rehashing old ideas is the only criticism DS3 gets. Besides, you’re in a joke thread, lighten up, not everything is about your weak penis size
>NOOOO REFERENCES ARE BAD
Yet this and tons of other references to Demon Souls gets a free pass
the tutorial also has the player follow a crevice of light, and to bank left after it just like things betwixt into majula
kek
>OLD THING! I RECOGNIZE OLD THING!
I WILL NOW BUY GAME BECAUSE OLD THING!
>the criticisms about PvP, rollspamming, humanoid bosses, linear progression, and dull environments aren't concrete because i say so
okay
>dark souls 3 has an item from dark souls 1 in it
ummm lmao kek? this is just nostalgia pandering, it's so cringe
>bloodborne has reference to demons' souls despite being a completely different universe
*boing boing boing* OH BOY OH BOY OH WOW
Dark Souls 3:
>Soul
Bloodborne:
>Soulless
Wait what? I don’t remember following a crevice of light in 3’s tutorial
Different IPs, spiritual sequel. And Patches is the exception because he's Miyazaki's stand-in guy, he's also in Bloodborne or fucking Armored Core.
what's wrong with humanoid bosses?
>bloodborne has reference to demons' souls despite being a completely different universe
>he doesn't know
So it's okay for spiritual sequels to have references even though they make even less sense, but a real sequel having references is lazy fanservice?
>criticisms about PvP, rollspamming, humanoid bosses, linear progression, and dull environments
ah yes, I too remember the release of DaS2 and the threads after all actual discussion died out
Yes, seems like you got it.
Seems like hypocrisy to me
You just give DS1 a pass because it was your first Souls game and you think it's perfect
>You’re acting like rehashing old ideas is the only criticism DS3 gets
This is true for every single Souls game except Demon's Souls and maybe Dark Souls 2. These games are iterative and build up on each other.
Dark Souls is straight up a remake of Demon's Souls in some ways and Bloodborne repeats so many scenarios from both Demon's Souls and Dark Souls.
Don't care about pvp
>rollspamming, humanoid bosses
These are meme criticisms. Rollspamming exists in every single souls cause it's the only true defensive option the player has.
Dark Souls 3 is about as linear Bloodborne i would say.
As for dull environments. That's just not true especially in comparison to the other games. The environment are by far the most varied than in any Souls and also fucking Irythyl.
It's not hypocrisy it's consistent inconsistency okkk?
You are so full of shit
Let's confuse the boomers
Sekiro>BB>DeS>=DS1>DS3>>>>DS2
DS3 has issues to be sure, but it's still worth playing again. In a way I think that's what stings the most with DS3, it really is a game that From got throttled on because Bamco wanted a yearly release schedule, and the great parts of the game that still stuck just make those shortcomings all the more bitter.
Of the Souls games, it's the one I like the least, but I still like it and regularly play it, which is more than what I can say for DS2
DS2 isn't "awful" per se, but it is the dictionary definition of a chore
Is this a reference to demon's souls i'm seeing? What a piece of this bloodborne is.
everything you say is true and there is no such thing as subjectivity, fellow faggot
I'm conflicted because Sekiro is obviously the best but Demon Souls is really fucking bad.
>Sekiro is obviously the best
>Demon Souls is really fucking bad.
KEK
reminder that american populace is literally taught and conditioned to think that understanding pop culture references is proof that you are smart
if you think I'm shitting you, just take a one small fucking look at reddit
Swap Demon Souls and DS3 and you have a perfect ranking
>opinions I disagree with are s o y
Sounds like you're the one drinking the s o y.
no u
>mfw finding out that the large crystal lizard was initially a Stray Demon to hammer it in even more
All of these games are based on Berserk and consist of 45% Berserk references you seething brainlet, so explain what the difference is between that and this
Oh, really?
Are you really going to confuse people older and wiser than you?
Man, you zoomers are amazing. We just don't stand a chance against these intellectual challenges. Truly the power of youth....
...or the bravery of ignorance.
Honestly I think Sekiro did what BB and DaS3 were trying to do better, while going back to a similar style of world design as DaS (though not quite as good).
Elden Ring needs to seriously re-examine the RPG elements and add actually meaningful choice and distinct mechanical differences between builds, otherwise it will just prove Sekiro's focused design philosophy right.
>the solaire statue covenant in DS2
What the fuck were they thinking
Rankings are gay you fucking faggots, get a personality
>dude remember dark souls 1???
That's retarded.
my post > your post
>crying
note how this little jew doesn't blink to make his eyes water
DS3:the lectric boogalo 2
why was Ornstein literally just in DS2 as himeself again?
>he's capable of liking some things more than others
>GET A PERSONALITY
me and your mom posting>shit>your post
Are you guys taking the piss out of the developer's that put a reference into the game or are you taking the piss out of mouthbreathers that exclaim as such
Of course he is, it's all over his Happy Meal
>EVERYONE EVERYONE LOOK AT MY TASTE!!!! IS GOOD YES WHO’S GOING TO JERK ME OFF???
Oscar fucking dies in every single timeline, fucking cursed character
here come the brainlets
>berserk invented european history
I understood that reference, and then I took an arrow to the knee :P
Hmmm, yes. Berzerk, how did i never see that. And here i thought its from medival european history in general.
DeS>DaS2>>>>>>>>>>>DaS1>DaS3>>>>>>>>>Bloodborne>>>>>Sekiro
>*GAAASSSPPP* IS THAT ORNSTEIN!!!!!!!!?????
For that reaction
>implying the references are being taken from European history and not berserk
You disingenuous pos
You're genuinely retarded if you think Miyazaki was inspired by that rather than Berserk
>creature from European mythology, little other design similarities
>literally just dragons on towers, little other design similarities
>another creature from European mythology, considering this interpretation is already an archetype I'd say there are few similarities
If player char's plan (let's say midway through the game) was an age of dark, why bother killing the lords? And why were fire keeper eyes necessary?
Basically what you are trying to say, is that Miura is an unoriginal hack?
>only one picture
lol
cope
>A generic dragon, a monster with horns, snakepeople
Woah Hackazaki wtf how can you ripp off Berzerk's 100% original ideas like that????
>Generic dragon
>Generic minotaur creature
>Generic snake man
BERSERK REFERENCE LOOOOOL
Faggot, im too lazy to make fucking image compilations like you. My shitposting autism only goes this far.
dont even try you limpwristed faggot
why are berserkfags always so intolerable?
>Generic limpwristed faggot
MUST BE A (YOU) REFERENCE LOOOOOL
>berserk invented demons, dragons and snakemen
Oh my god why are Berserk fags like this
alright well this thread is gone to shit now ლ,ᔑ•ﺪ͟͠•ᔐ.ლ
Miyazaki himself said that he drew a strong inspiration from berserk. If you need further convincing watch this video: youtube.com
Imagine caring about the lore when DS3 has the best gameplay in the series
>inb4 muh infinite rolling and R1 spam
Nowhere near as bad as DS1's broken poise and OP magic
>inb4 muh linearity
DS3 has much better individual level design, the interconnected levels from DS1 are a meme they barely add anything to the game when so many levels are shit
>inb4 muh every boss is the same
DS3 has the best boss roster in the series, they're the most consistent in quality and difficulty, I'll take that over uniqueness any day
The worst bosses in 3(which are all the unique gimmick ones that people pretend to want) are nowhere near as bad as Bed of Chaos or the other 90% of DS1 bosses
why do people rank sekiro so high?
Haven't tried it, but maybe now I should....
>Miyazaki himself said that he drew a strong inspiration from berserk
That doesn't mean that every single generic or history influenced detail is taken straight from Berzerk.
Well, obviously...
This art is great but Lorian is standing lol
extremely polished, you can't summon
Dark Souls 1 esq level design with a new combat system and a more direct story.
Sekiro has the best combat, easily
It's a real action game and instead of an action RPG
NEVER FORGET WHEN THIS SINGLE MINIBOSS FILTERED 3/4 OF Yea Forums A YEAR AGO
i wish i could enjoy sekiro as i do souls, i know it's a great game but the fact it IS an action game and not an action rpg ruins it for me.
I think the idea is that you have to be the one to kill the soul of cinder to guarantee control over what happens: you could let the stagnation continue but someone might come and kill soul of cinder and reignite the first flame with their body, whereas if you're the one who does it you can for sure just snuff out the first flame
Yeah, I'm sure the genius conjured up the idea himself or he totally looked a historical objects. I'm sure.
The cope is unreal
>inb4 nooooo medieval tortures used wheels as weapons too
Those are criticisms about the series as a whole, not dark souls 3.
DO AMERICANS
REALLY
>He doesn't know medieval torturers used wheels as weapons
You are American though?
At least a game is using the imagery, unlike every attempt at a berserk video game.
You are right he must have been inspired by Miura's boundless creativity to include generic dragons and snake people into a fantasy setting. This is the only explanation.
...
You people act like you're above such behavior. What's something you like right now? Do you believe that thing won't get old and that someday you won't feel nostalgia for said thing?
Then how did i level up, dumbass
Whats the refrence? Is that the lordvessel?
>PvP
Has always been atrocious in souls, DS3's is at least playable after patches and is the only one that still has an active community.
>rollspamming
Semi-valid criticism, still nowhere near as much of a joke as DS1 poise.
>humanoid bosses
Almost all the best bosses in the series are humanoid, retard. They are frequent in 3 because they are fun and they work with the combat.
>Linear progression
I'll give you this one.
>Dull environments
Completely subjective. The game looks good, it strikes a balance between Bloodborne's gothic horror and the medieval fantasy of DeS/DaS. Look at the concept art, there is undeniably effort and detail put in, even if the ideas are derivative of earlier games.
>Guys everything is a Berserk reference!
Nigga we all know that DaS takes some influence from Berserk, but not everything has to reference your stupid series.
You're sounding a lot like Jojo fags tbqh
they're FirstFrommer kids, they started playing from Sekiro
Parrot.
Imagine being a stupid ass eurotrash faggot and not knowing that DS is explicitly stated to have drawn heavily from Berserk.
I didn’t like DS3 because it was too fast. I liked how poise worked in DS1 and how heavy armor entailed moving super slow. I also don’t like this thing that the devs did where all the enemies are bigger than you, makes it feel funny I guess. I found the second and third games obsession with fuck huge weapons to be kinda annoying.
Also the comedy was gone, there were funny little things in the first game like dancing with your trident, the audience had gotten so autistic by the third game that no one wanted to just mess around. The devs seemingly wanted people to screw around less, which was annoying.
I liked the world of DS2 a lot, that being crumbled forts and ruins. If we got more ruined cities I would have liked it a lot more. Should have been you work your way in from the coast, the hags live on the coast and then you go up from there. The forts and outlying towns, then the main city, then the castle. Then the mansion in the darker parts of the forest, the dragons in the mountains, and then smaller little communities.
DS3 just felt too much like Bloodborne, and I know that that alone will get you guys screeching, but it just felt like Miazaki was in massive damage control from 2 and just said fuck ito werr make brudborne with knight armor.
I am also constantly annoyed that DS is designed mainly for right handed people yet the protective armor for the knights arm is on the left arm.
Autism
I clapped when I saw Macaulay Culkin! Remember him?
dilate on those criticisms with substantial evidence.
But why is the Lord Vessel on the surface? Wasn't it placed several miles underground at the end of DS1?
>uh oh, this thing i used to like is being enjoyed by my normie peers, i'd better start hating it now.
you've been like this your whole life, why?
is there a mod that removes the desaturation from Das3
>a sequel has elements from a previous series installment
Woah
Who let them get away with this?
why do nipnop insects have no originality or creativity?
>russian chicken fucker propaganda made user and his friends use transsexual lingo
Imagine if your dad heard you saying that and figured out what it meant. He'd punch your lights out, and with good reason.
>inb4 slavic education
Maybe if I appease and be submissive enough people will finally accept me.
are you okay, retard? you seem to have a few loose wires.
Stop parroting shit to fit in with the other retards, you're embarrassing yourself.
DS1 happened who knows how long ago. Just get some slave fuck to carry it back up.
are you okay, retard? need a therapy dog?
Speaking of therapy, didn't they tell you this isn't healthy behavior, cockbreath?
>What's something you like
hunter x hunter
>Do you believe that thing won't get old and
it's over 20 years of age already
I don't think I ever opened my mouth wide and exhaled onions from every pore even when togashi announces 10 new chapters every leap year. the narrative that everyone is an onionsboy for their favorite media in secret is stupid, this is corelated to being a dumb consumer who bases his years/decade's/life's worth by the quality of the entertainment media he indulged during that time
there's no shame in asking for help, retard. don't keep it all in.
No, faget
Isn't it time for your ritalin, garbage boy? Are you getting bullied at school or something? you sound like not enough.
calm down, retard. you're babbling incoherently.
Is that a tear? Is daddy's little girl gonna cry?
>humanoid bosses
Currently playing DaS3 and it really doesn't feel like there's been a lot of these, and most of the ones you could call "humanoids" have their own different gimmicks that makes their fight stand out. I wouldn't say that Pontiff was particularly similar to the Dancer or Friede. I've only gotten up to the Archives and through the first DLC but it feels like there's been plenty of gimmick/non-humanoid fights already between the Greatwood, Wolnir, Aldritch, Yhorm, Oceiros, Vordt, and Gundyr turning into a big pus monster.
are you okay, retard?
It took you two minutes to post a reply. Are you having brain problems?
>and how heavy armor entailed moving super slow.
Nigger everyone in DS1 was flipping around at light speed.
Actually the main inspiration are tabletop RPGs Miyazaki used to play
Not me. I played slow and heavy a lot. Dex fags need not apply
n-n-no you can't just reference the previous game in the s-s-series. i c-c-clapped!
You're a dumb faggot.
everything okay, retard?
Go take your ritalin, fatso.
Out of all the things to bitch about dark souls 3 the references is the stupidest one. It's supposed to be the last fucking game in the series.
this game is too hard. why do they even have shields in this game when they only help against the weakest enemies?
Are you putting points into the shield stat?
I GOT THAT REFERENCE
ITS THE BONEFIRE FROM DARK SOULS
hahaha
Bloodborne:
>Echo
Dark Souls 3:
>Echoless
which one is that, Vitality?
Idk, I only played DS3 once on my brother's steam. The only shield I used was grass crest for stamina regen.
But easter eggs are fun
Disingenuous faggot. Recurring mascot character and 50% of the game being ‘member dark souls 1??? xd’ aren’t the same
Shut the fuck up all the bosses are BIG humanoid literal whos. The best fights are regular humanoids and relevant big humanoids. All shut the fuck up about the environments being good because everything is grey.
Senior isn’t even a Souls game and I have no clue why people keep putting it on these lists. It has more in common with fucking Assassin’s Creed than Dark Souls.
Yep, literally him. Not changed, at all, nope.
The entirety of DS3 is nothing but a fucking reference
Anyone else feel nostalgic after taking a big shit and looks down into your toilet bowl at it? I always think of Dark Souls Poo(2)
>there are people breathing right now in this very Earth that think like this
>Other sequels naturally have things from previous games, whether it be bosses, enemies, weapons, etc.
>Bayo2 and DMC5 both feature tons of references to prior games and is largely appreciated
>Dark Souls does it and now its a problem
Are Dark Souls fans the biggest niggers around?
>I am also constantly annoyed that DS is designed mainly for right handed people yet the protective armor for the knights arm is on the left arm.
That's because it's their shield arm you dumb dumb. If in a blocking stance they'd have the left foot in front of their body and their right arm behind the shield, think about it.
And while you're at it make him copy paste it around in different sizes, right?
DeS and DaS aren't the same series though
>retard that knows nothing about a game, played it once and didn't use the mechanic he's defending
So this are the kind of people that defend DS3
Honestly Souls fans are just really negative about the series in general.
souls trannies are rabid low IQ chest beating monkeys with loud inflated egos due to managing to attune to syncing the dodge button and it's oversized i-frames with enemy attacks.
>Surface level similarity such as a name
>Implying this isn't the exact same thing
Smough has more similarities to Tarkus than Iron Tarkus did. Stop trying to shoehorn JoJo shit into everything.
I'm already old, dumb zoomer
liking things is a pleb filter, normie
AHAHA OH MY GOD SAME YAAAS
>The """criticism""" against Dark Souls 3 is so weak
Why?
A new kind of retardation
No, they're both at fault, but at least in DS1 it seemed as a way to somewhat improve or build upon DeS, while in 3 it just feels like a lazy attempt to appease the fans who loved DS1 but didn't like DS2.
>Being an uneducated mutt who doesn't know what Dilate means and going off about Yea Forums vernacular being bad
Imagine dripping with ironic stupidity
It's almost like what the series was about radically changed to appease PvP trannies and normies
Do people really seethe this much over random easter eggs? Most people would pass this up without a second thought anyways.
Nuke this thread
NO NO NO NO NO NO NOT THE EASTER EGGERINO! NOT THE HECKIN' CALLBACKERINO YOU CAN'T JUST REFERENCE OLD BASED DARKIE SOULSIES LIKE THAT STOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP
There was always a heavy focus on pvp going back to Demon Souls you normalfag.
But how can it be bad if I clapped?!
I cried when I saw Anor Londo. And I cheered when I fought this random fuck I met 5 minutes ago and who I know nothing about and have no connection because he did the Artorias corpse throw, mention the Dark Soul™ and fought with a Broken Sword! Thanks Miyazaki!!!!1
Do you have the stats in the shield stat or not?
Still done more tastefully than DS3
Dark Souls 2: less than piss
>Demon's Souls
>((((heavy focus on PvP))))
Stop trying to rewrite history you hypocritical fuck
>those soulless eyes
goodness these people are fucking creepy
lmfao left the thread with the kind of retarded answer you idiots deserved and seems like you loved it.
Guess what? It's the kind of answer you wanted, because you're all a bunch of blind, disingenuous morons exactly like said that compare Patches or DeS to fucking Andre or Oscar being back a several dozen millennia after they were gone, or an exact fucking copy of Siegmeyer running around with the same face and VA, or the fucking Lordvessel appearing like four times throughout the game. "but muh time is convoluted", "but muh other sequels do it even though other franchise's sequels don't take place 10000+ years after each other". You all killed the Souls franchise in your search for w dumbed down DMC/Bloodborne wannabe and your "le difficulty" meme, and what we ended up with was a disgrace of a fucking sequel that people parade as the second coming of Miyazaki when he hasn't done a good game since 2015 and one that feels tight plot-wise since 2011. Enjoy your trash sequels, bunch of retards. Clap when you see Gwyn's statue in the Ringed City.
level design a shit
monster placement is always having a wall of mobs right before the bonfire
there is no strategy to it
Being able to wield the shield properly does fuck all when all enemies but the Grave Wardens have a Bloodborne fast 7 hit combo with infinite stamina. What's that, you started as a Knight and want to play the part? Too bad, hope you like rolling while in heavy armor because the game's designed with it in mind.
Because it's not tangible like the level design in Dark Souls shitting the bed after Anor Londo. It's completely abstracted stuff like "oh no they referenced Gwyn" which suddenly stops to be a problem when the other games do it.
>hunter x hunter
faggot
Agree. Souls was about exploring the unknown and the experience being enriched by the gameplay. Covenants were their first mistake and it only got worse, now we have a 2fast4u Bloodborne wannabe with a bunch of hallways painted in different shades of grey.
>which suddenly stops to be a problem when the other games do it.
As far as I'm aware the only other DS game is DS2, and it that is specifically mentioned that Gwyn's name has been forgotten and FORBIDDEN.
That's the problem with DS3, instead of trying to mantain consistency it just panders to DS1 fans without building an interesting identity doing so.
>poise bad, roll spam estus chug good
>best world design bad, hallways good
imagine being this retarded, do you think it knows?
>monster placement is always having a wall of mobs right before the bonfire
but this is a crock of shit. there's alot of bonfires with little to no mobs before them. even if considering, this is not really objective critique. As a matter of fact this critique heavily applies to DaS1, not 3. Every single bonfire in 1 has a huge obstacle winding up right before it. The depths bonfire, the blighttown bonfires, the undead burg bonfires, they all have high intensity mobs before them.
>Strategy
nice buzzword, care to provide some depth to these airheaded statements?
the actual environments are very nice but why the fuck is every encounter against a small army?
>t. random easter egg
shit taste you fag
This but unironically. DaSII is a mix between King's Field and DeS and I love both. Flames of Old is gonna make that game kino again.
the only game with a strong online/pvp focus is 2
Why were most of DS2 bosses just big humans.
yes
it removes the grey tint and the fog
>this critique heavily applies to DaS1
no it doesnt
mobs on ds1 have strategic placement, not 100 mobs jumping yu right before the bonfire
its fucking lazy and not fun at all, feels like an old budget ps2 game
Thats my biggest problem with the game
Whenever Gael's not on screen, all the other characters should be asking, "Where's Gael?"
Hey remember when you find the 8th Pigmy Lord right after getting to the Ringed City and he tells you the Red Hood is killing them but then you go through the entirety of the DLC, touch Fillianore's eggfu and find Gael in the future STILL killing the Pigmy Lords?
>mobs on ds1 have strategic placement, not 100 mobs jumping yu right before the bonfire
name 5 instances of this in dark souls 3.
I will present 5 from dark souls 1
>Depths bonfire
>Undead burg bonfire
>Catacombs bonfire
>Anor Londo bonfire (beyond the silver knights)
>blighttown bonfire (both of them)
That's not true. You are giving an infavorable interpretation. Gwyn's name doesn't pop up in DaS3 solely to pander to fans. He is a significant character in the Dark Souls world and there is justified reason why he is referenced. And it's funny you complain about inconsistency but what is DaS2 supposed to be an example of a game that maintains consistency?
>nice buzzword, care to provide some depth to these airheaded statements?
sure, take blighttown for example
mobs are distributed all across the level, you get the stat stackers at the top, the heavy hitters at the swamp at the bottom and some cheap motherfuckers if you tke the alternative route instead of fighting the spider girl right away but that is fine since you get the first greatshield there
its not so much strategy, not on your first run anyways, but if you go through that progression it feels great, you figure out how to get to the bottom, get fucked by the spider and go exploring, die a ffew times and get the shield that lets you tank most mobs there
thats some nice handholding, blightown is one of my favourite areas in the souls series
onnce you know what to do the strategy is running past the mobs at the start, lighting the bonfire and getting the shield
Who thinks Demon's Souls is bad? One of the greatest games ever made.
DaS3 has fantastic level design. Cathedral of the Deep and Lothric shit on all other Souls games except Bloodborne.
NEVER FORGET
PUS OF MAN'S RELEVANCE? GONE
ANGEL'S AND GERTRUDE'S RELVANCE? GONE, FORMER RETCONNED FOR THE SECOND DLC
CREATING YOUR OWN BONFIRES? GONE
SEEING ALL THE WEAPONS YOU HAVE EQUIPPED? GONE
>Berserk created Europe, minotaurs, dragons/drakes and snake men
I can't decide what's worse: JoJo fans, or Berserk fans.
man those taurus demons and the snake men are almost 1:1 ripoffs lmao
miyazaki more like miyahacki
>As far as I'm aware the only other DS game is DS2, and it that is specifically mentioned that Gwyn's name has been forgotten and FORBIDDEN.
Forgotten yes, but forbidden?
>(great) sunlight spear
>A miracle that launches a spear of lightning.
Said to be the legacy of an ancient clan whose leader was revered as the God of Sun.
The name of the clan has been lost to time, but the gross incandescence of our magnificent father shall never wane."
>sacred oath
>An ancient miracle said to have been devised by warriors who once served the God of Sun.
Where are you getting forbidden from?
What I meant is, they could have done the exact same thing they did but still keep consistency with DS2 and not mention Gwyn's name. Instead they mention it, because they wanted fans to cream themselves reading/hearing it.
>faggot
no u
One of the Old Iron King descriptions says that "he met the one whose name must not be repeated" and another miracle says explicitly that his name was forbidden, I don't remember which one but I think it's one of the spells you can trade with souls by straid.
Hey remember when the main plot of DaSIII was completely changed during development so now nothing makes sense? I 'member.
>inb4 noooooo all games change things during development ignore that some do it more than others and DaSIII has remnants of earlier drafts in-game
>DaSII
>Artorias' sword doesn't mention his name, meaning Alva did a good job
>DaSIII
>fanboys all over Artorias, meaning Alva and her covenant fucked up
Bonus points for Artorias' fanclub hating shields even though the only reason he didn't use one right before dying was because his arm was broken and they themselves fucking GIFT YOU A SHIELD FOR RANKING UP THE COVENANT
>Hey remember when the main plot of DaSIII was completely changed during development so now nothing makes sense? I 'member
provide evidence and substance to this.
Could have done what exactly?
>they wanted fans to cream themselves reading/hearing it
How is that a bad thing? Is Ludwig's transition cutscene a bad thing? Because clearly they play it up for the fans.
>How is that a bad thing?
Unlike Bloodborne, it's the only thing the game has going for it because it sucks at being a Dark Souls.
You're at a clear disadvantage if you try to argue with Yea Forums. You see, to you a point has to make sense. To Yea Forums nothing has to make coherent falsifiable sense.
They could have kept Gwyn's name forbidden/forgotten. They could have kept a lot of thing more vague and forgotten, so that when the references start popping up they're more meaningful and satisfying, which is what DS2 did.
Instead what is the significance of seeing Anor Londo again if the game has been fellating DS1 nonstop for the past 20 hours?
There are 4 years of research on it, look it up
>dude write an essay instead of me typing "ds3 cut content" on Google and spoonfeed me like the faggot I am
That'd make DS3 the easter egg hunt equivalent of opening an egg carton.
Patches is a goddamn real ass nigga
>spoonfeed me pls
Funny seeing this posted a few minutes before yours
>t. felt such nostalgia for Dark Souls 1 he clapped when he saw pic related and thought "Miyazaki, you did it again..."
you didn't even post the part with the actual bonfire in W3, poor effort
>the Artorias corpse throw
newfag
exquisite bait, though to be fair dks3 retards are some of the simplest fish around
Fuck man that giant wormKaathe and the blood sun looked so fucking cool, shame it was never in the game.
>yfw you'll never get to see this full video The Know did
FUCK ROOSTER TEETH
No they couldn't cause they were trying to flesh out the world of Dark Souls. This was the problem with Dark Souls 2, it was too detached from the first game that it could hardly justify itself as a sequel. I don't know what you mean by references popping up in a meaningful way in DaS2. Was Ornstein, the same character from the previous game suddenly showing up long after the events of DS1 without any explanation, meaningful and satisfying?
The reappearance of Anor Londo is to show how the world has gotten dilapidated. It is much more significant and impactful to see a familiar place that was once in relatively good state being corrupted and dying.
>humanoid bosses
I have seen this criticism levied more against DaS II than III.
People complained about "gimmick" bosses in 3
Dark Souls 1 was a self-contained story. It didn't need a direct sequel, and DS2 understood that which is why it's mostly detached. Miyazaky didnt' want to make a sequel to Dark Souls, he stepped in after finishing Bloodborne and changed the story (twice!) to fill it with direct references to DS1 to make sure the game would appease the fans. Otherwise, if he really wanted to tell those things, he would have asked for direction of DS3 from the get go, and would have given more precise instruction on the story for DS2, things he very clearly didn't do. So he didn't care to explore the themes we see in DS3, which is why a lot of people feel it's rather uninspired and soulless.
>they were trying to flesh out the world of Dark Souls
They sure fleshed out the world by bringing Astora, Catarina, Carim, the Great Swamp, Vinheim... etc. up again then doing absolutely nothing with them, just like the Way of White. Volgen is more explained in 2 than any of the aforementioned in 3.
>it was too detached from the first game
Which was great, Drangelic was a random kingdom X thousands of years after 1. And even then you had the four Lord Souls and the different Queens being shards of Manus to tie it together. It tried its own thing plot wise with the kingdoms and Aldia. 2's flaws lie elsewhere. Without 1, 3 is nothing.
And 95% of bosses having either a second or third phase. When everyone's super, no one is.
>DaSIII has remnants of earlier drafts in-game
So do Ds2 and Bloodborne and we don't know much about the other games yet because they lack leaked QA builds.
SOUL
Are DS2's remnants of an earlier story only the Aged Feather and the loli Shanalotte voice?
the tutorial prompt you get when fighting him is literally wrong, no wonder half the planet dies
>face ogre
>tutorial pops up: "DUDE SIDESTEP GRABS"
>ok
>ogre grabs
>side steps
>he instantly turns beside him mid grab and teleports in his hands
>turns out the lounge grab he does is ACTUALLY considered a *sweep* attack for some reason and jumping over it makes you dodge it ALL the time
tutorial prompts were a fucking mistake
>And even then you had the four Lord Souls and the different Queens being shards of Manus to tie it together.
The whole "reincarnating Lord Souls" felt like a really bad attempt to tie DaS II to I.
Even the very idea of four lord souls is kind of fucked lorewise when you think about it.
There's a difference between being nostalgic about something and deliberately hamming up your nostalgia for the camera for views.
As someone else already pointed out, notice how this little cretin barely blinks. He's doing that so that his eyes water and he can force the tears to come out. He blinks once in that 15 second webm. Nobody does that.
Well a lot of things were repurposed, but most stuff ends up making sense anyway. For example Shrine of Amana and Undead Crypt weren't supposed to be Nito's domain at first.
Does this Elden Ring concept art worry anyone else?
>humanoid taller than the player
>freak proportions for limbs
>grimdark theme with fire
This could be a Souls boss, I'm scared Elden Ring will be a souls rehash.
>don't care about pvp
what I'm reading is that you're bad at pvp. have you considered a focus attempt to git gud?
No, ds2 arguably had the most cut content
youtu.be
cringiest post on this website
That's why this games should've never been connected, DaSII's plot could've stood up on its own without the Dark Souls connection being there, and if reworked for a while so would DaSIII. I think hit the nail in the head.
oh no, a studio known for a very specific medieval art style and boss mechanic might continue a proven and winning formula!
>I'm scared Elden Ring will be a souls rehash.
wouldn't mind myself, always down for a bitta souls
show me where is the medieval art style in armored core, From isn't a one trick developer
>for 3 years everyone says the dragons are primordial serpents with wings
>they're just generic dragons
Why the fuck do people put so much faith in cut content and leaks?
>DaSII's plot could've stood up on its own without the Dark Souls connection being there, and if reworked for a while so would DaSIII
Except even the earlier concept art for 3 showed that 3 was always intended to be a more "true" sequel to DaS I in contrast to II.
I mean, they were going to unveil the snakes master plan for starters.
That's what I mean. Things being repurposed so their earlier use isn't even hinted at I'm good for, like Lucatiel and the Bell Keeper. It's stuff that very clearly doesn't belong yet it's there in the final product that I have a problem with, and the only ones I can think of in DS2 are the Aged Feather being given more importance than it ended up having and child Shanalotte's voice in that one conversation in the Dragon Aerie. The rest is repurposed, but by playing the game you wouldn't realize so. Bloodborne and DS3 are different in that there's stuff in the final game any player can see that if given a little bit of thought don't add up. Bloodborne gets away with it easier because of its structure of dreams and nightmares, but it's more apparent in DS3 I feel.
lol a dead series. they are a one trick pony when it comes to non-mech games.
>Awful level design
>Infinite rolling that makes fights trivial all the time
>Nostalgia writing that adds nothing to the old characters that came back
>Absolutely 0 replayability
>No armor upgrades
>Useless sorcery/miracles
>Less armor/weapons than previous games
>Ashen Estusflask
>No poise
>Etc, etc
Its a cool game but its far from solid and the worst entry of the trilogy,
You can roll like 3 times consecutively at sl 120 unless you've been putting literally all points into stamina and have cloranthy ring +999 or something in ds2, come on now
The only problem I see with that pic is the wannabe-coiled sword.
I know, I mean that if we take the final games as we ended up getting them and reworked all the references and connections to DaS it woudln't be *that* hard to make DaSII about a series of kingdoms that fell because of their evil Queens of the same origins; and DaSIII to be about a random world that's about to end and the only one that could stop that being a frail prince on top of his kingdom that refuses to do so. If they had been self-contained and not connected to Dark Souls at all they would've been way better and I feel people wouldn't have the problem of DaSIII being more Bloodborne than Dark Souls.
>doesn't know how to roll catch
>mfw
Chloanne's design doesn't look like a stone trader at all and more like a fantasy surgeon/scientist with the apron, cutting equipment and the fact that we never see her handling stones but various bones.
Some people assume that she was originally meant to be in Aldia's Keep or that Frankenstein-esque character that got cut early in development with the only traces remaining bein the Artificial Undead enemy (and probably nearly every other stitched together/disfigured enemy).
I wouldn't say Sekiro follows their "very specific medieval art style"
>Spiritual Successor
yeah but there's no mistaking it as a natural evolution of the Soulsborne games. And yeah, there are plenty of large humanoid enemies. Just because they changed it to medieval Japan doesn't change the point. You're trying hard, and I'll give you credit, but Elden Ring is going to be Soulsy and you really should, for your own wellbeing, start the coping process now if it is going to leave you so bum-befuddled.
>You're trying hard
But I'm a different user from and my first post to you was
You can't roll catch if the connection is too bad
>damage control
yeah whatever. The existence of Sekiro doesn't refute my point in the least.
Retard
so turn off cross-region play dipshit. Did you just install the game during the last Steam sale or some shit?
well, not at all because it's fanart
>it woudln't be *that* hard to make DaSII about a series of kingdoms that fell because of their evil Queens of the same origins
Except only one of them is really responsible for the fall of her respective kingdom.
Which kind of fits with the idea of the Dark not really being evil, just weird and different.
IN
THE
LEAST
cross-region doesn't do anything if you're not in japan
Tfw I discovered Berserk due to Dark Souls
>Go seek the dragon
ok
>Dragon: reverse toilet flushing sound
ok
>Go into memories for some reason
ok, but where are they?
>I don't know google it
ok
>Kill the Giant Lord for some reason and get his giants kinship whatever the fuck that is
ok
Well you got what I meant. You could have it like the actual DaSII where the main game would be about Nashandra then the DLCs about all these other kingdoms
it will prevent you from playing with anyone in Japan, which will help. And if your connection is bad, just R1 spam for an easy W
>"The magic of the ancient dragon allows one to delve into the memories of the withered"
It's magic I ain't gotta explain shit
>ok, but where are they?
Don't you walk in front of them during the game as some sort of foreshadowing? At least in FOFG I remember so.
>and get his giants kinship whatever the fuck that is
Something Vendrick and Aldia had before Drangleic went to ruin but now our only chance to get it is in the past
this. I played a ton of DS2 because I love invading but goddamn that story is so obviously patchwork. Contrary to DS and DeS, where the story is obscure but all pointing in the same direction, DS2 is scattershot because they built the game for a different story. I wish they'd kept it original.
But I work for a big corporation and I know how fucking retarded DVPs in Marketing can be about project scope change at the last minute to chase theoretical sales targets.
>go in memory
>somehow alter the past despite you technically never actually been there
Yeah, it really is a shame. If done well I think I would've liked the time travel storyline but the chances of them doing it well especially under Shibuya were slim. It was far too ambitious for its own good, like ffs it had a "Past" and "Future" version of every. single. map. What Tanimura did with DaSII is nothing short of amazing.
>not enjoying the ludo that is realizing the Giant Lord and the Last Giant are one and the same
Lol if you think this game has no replayability then you're retarded.
>You people act like you're above such behavior.
I am very much above such behavior. There are many things I'm nostalgic for, but this isn't nostalgia, this is a complete disconnect from reality.
you're behind, we've already established it's because he's bad at PvP.
Wex dust has made me love DaS3 all over again.
oh please expound on that. itemize it, if you would be so kind
i never played sekiro or know anything about it, but what is its original language? japanese?
my first guess is that the instructions got lost in translation, and maybe it says "avoid" in japanese, but the english version says "sidestep" or dodge or anything that refers to using a game mechanic rather than performing an action inside the game
i.e it says avoid, so you automatically think of actions that imply running away, jumping or dodging, whichever you think is the best choice in that moment
if it says dodge, you don't think about anything else but using the dodge button
I believe in elden ring. Miyazaki is pouring everything he got into this game. It should be better than bloodborne
>get hyped for sekiro
>it's still 60 bucks on steam
m-maybe next month, bros...
Elden Ring is Tanimura's project though.
So if it wasn't changed, it would be Ocarina of Time: Dark Sousl edition?
Except you start off in the future, and in most cases have the really cool set pieces be in the past?
I guess its also continuing the storyline of Dark Souls well. Land is overran with Undeads, so we are further into the apocalypse than in DaS.
But there is more demons now, since Chaos is now a competing factor.
Thank you kind user for linking.
I agree.
Especially when FROM has these really short dev cycles.
Dark Souls 3 is better than most mainstream games in the last 5 years
It should not be controversial to say this
So long we get the famed Gay Bulg and Chu Chulain, and whatever not there is?
Its going to be fantastic.
where did you get that? Its directed by miyazaki
it's a great game
Yeah understanding the description of the ashen mist hear is a bit of a far fetch, but the giant kinship is essentially just something that allows the golem in the Throne of Want to react to your presence.
Once Elden Ring eternally BTFOs Sekiro, it'll leave no question that Tanimura > Miyazaki
We are talking about DS3 not DS2
I'm so tired of lanky enemies that have higher reach than what you'd assume. BB, DS3 and Sekiro were full of them. they're not even enjoyable in terms of gameplay for the most part.
Armors in this game are so damn cool and realistic.
>Except even the earlier concept art for 3 showed that 3 was always intended to be a more "true" sequel to DaS I in contrast to II.
DS3 started with Tanimura at the helm and we don't know what the story would have been. The Miyazaky came in and changed it to the one about Sulyvhan and the Dark Lords. Then he changed it again for some reason, but it ended up making less sense.
That armor's from DS2 though
Ok bro
>the Dark Lords
That's a reddit theory with zero evidence backing it up, pure speculation
kill yourself
I'm impressed at how rabidly you can all argue over a shit normalfag series.
dark souls has always been "dude remember older game?"
>this whole post
I know, right? You should stop posting before you look worse than you already do.
sail the high seas
I wish but I'm pretty sure he's not very involved. I actually believe he was more involved in Sekiro.
Tanimura didn't appear in Sekiro's credits at all.
Yes there's, it's been talked to death in the past. The original story had Sulyvhan ring the bell to summon the lords of dark or something.
best girl trapped in second best/worst DaS
More like you rang the bell at the end to summon him. We know in one draft the "Lords of Cinder" or whatever they were called back then were:
>King of the Storm (Nameless King)
>Wolf of the Eclipse (Abyss Watchers + Wolf of Farron)
>The Gathering of Cardinals (Aldrich? + Deacons)
>brought to you by the people that scream OLD GOOD NEW BAD
Faggot parrot.
It's almost like that gained traction because it's true in most cases.
To be fair on the shields one, the "hating shields" bit was only in the translated versions, the Japanese version doesn't mention the Watchers hating shields anywhere
nostalgia about... corporations?
I like your style.
This. Dark Souls 3 is creatively bankrupt, every corner of the game is a "reference" or a nod to something from the previous games. Even the last boss is like this, it was sad that they could not do better.
Half of the levels and NPC models in DS2 were made under a different director before he got booted and Tanimura stepped in. Tanimura wanted to make his own idea of DS2, but they didn't have the time and money to make a whole new game from scratch, so they reused as much of those previous assets as possible, causing some shit to not make sense
We want the plin plin plon audience
I have no desire to play elden ring
If DaS3 was called Dragon Souls or Demolished Souls or whatever it would be fine then? What about the countless other franchises in all media that reference previous entries because that's how sequels fucking work?
But you haven't seen any gameplay.
eat shit faggot, get gassed faggot. Do you think anybody fucking cares about your childish banal opinions on this series or its games? Fucking narcissistic worthless retard
>Souls games are probably some of the most disconnected sequels in sequel history
>barely have any relation at all to one-another either plot or character wise
>yet the few times they do reference one-another you shit on them as if they were as pandering as the Star Wars sequels
You guys are fucking retards.
>DS1 brings back Patches
>DS2 doesn't bring back Patches, instead there are multiple familiar but different characters who trick or trap the player
>DS3 brings back Patches and has him do his bit not once, not twice, but three different time and say "A fine Dark Soul to you"
These are meaningful differences to people with taste and intelligence, disqualifying DS3fags.
Why are you talking about Dark Souls 2? We're talking about Dark Souls 3.
>what is its original language? japanese?
yes, the translation was done by fucking activision so half the names and item descriptions are completely botched, I'm guessing the tutorials are also fucked
People really like ds3 this much?
>t. only played ds1 and bloodborne
kek
>it would be fine then?
If it was patches, yes. If it was a single DaS easter egg like a bonfire off to the side, that's what eastr eggs are. If it was Oscar or Andre, no.
>What about the countless other franchises in all media that reference previous entries
Do they take place several dozen millenia after the previous entries?
>Souls games are probably some of the most disconnected sequels in sequel history
>barely have any relation at all to one-another either plot or character wise
Only true for DS2. You're fucking blind if you think DS3 "barely has any relation" to DS1.
I honestly think it's Stockholm Syndrome by this point. Don't play either Dark Souls sequel, don't taint your feelings of the game. At most try out 2.
>GRU viral skullfucking is now "Yea Forums lingo"
No, fatass, fuck off back to your containment board.
