The singleplayer campaign is essentially a glorified tutorial for gyro aim, go play it with gyro to get used to it.

The two big tips are :
>start by trying them some in the 1p campaign. That offers some lower intensity situations to try them out.
>just start playing with them a lot, starting in turf war. You'll start out bad like everyone does but it really feels nice once you get accommodated.

Honestly I think the gameplay, modes and customisation is already near-ideal. The biggest complaint I have is instead that the general lobby area is too impersonal.

If I could have whatever I wanted, I'd want Splatoon 3 to let you have a little customisable apartment. Getting certain ranks/playing in certain events/beating the single player/using specific weapons etc. would unlock decorations for the room, including literal trophies you can put on your shelves. Or even figures/merch of your favourite squid idols.

The game is already heavily into the being stylish and customising thing, and I'd love to see them go the extra mile for that and give you a way to make a little corner of the world itself a little more personalised.

While I feel that 2 is a better game over all, I also feel like the personality is much different.

Splatoon 1 def feels like a Nickelodian show. All the losing/victory animations both in game and in the plaza feel much more happy childish. Same with the locations too, most of them take place in places where kids would play in. The plaza is much brighter and the coloring in general is more lighter colors and more use of white.

Splatoon 2 feels much more mature. It almost feels like the early 2000 skater boy/X-games style. All the squids do cool poses when they win, and when they loose you can really feel that they are disapointed. The plaza is much darker, all the colors are darker, lots of oranges, purples. All the stages too are places like indoor super gyms, off road biking, and even a theme park known for it's extreme and crazy rides.

Multiplayer maps built around grind rails. Score more points for consistent speed and tricks.

A "War Zone" area where players drop in to a large area for daily bonuses based on how much they contributed. Have the sides just be competing groups of fans of one of the two idols.

Coop, mini raids where players group up to storm Crab Cove for loot guarded by a boss. Have the map change with the tide so that certain strategies for moving forward are required.

Have the Inklings reverse engineer some of the octomechs for a game mode where the teams compete to grab octoling scientists to build a giant mech the team combines to man and go on a rampage. Winning team does the most damage to the other team's turf.

I'd kind of like Splatoon to get some spinoffs to be honest. The setting and character designs are great but I can't see a 3rd game on the same console without a ton of new stuff to justify it. 1 and 2 were supported for like three years, tops. 1 was understandable because it was on shit hardware, but 2 should still be getting Splatfests to this day. There's no reason not to. This is why, if I start drawing for commissions, I'll keep my day job. Nothing wrong with a side hustle, but when you make it your only hustle, you're bound to fall tot he wayside of sleazy porn. I heard from someone who knows JTveemo that most of the reason she draws what she draws now i because it's her main source of income, and South Korean jobs pay like shit. Whether she enjoys the material she produces on others' behest is unknown; I never asked, but either way, it goes to show what happens when you put all your eggs in one basket.

Speaking for myself, if I'm gonna be paid for what I draw for people (o write, as I'm more active as a writefag), I want to be able to have discretion and not be forced to draw/write ugly bastard/corruption shit. I want enough freedom to pay my rent without having to do anything I don't want to and whore myself out. The world of creative content and the patrons you find therein get more and more homogeneous the fatter the checks get. Degenerates and other subhuman filth tend to get the most material because their income, consisting mostly of parents' money and welfare checks, is the most disposable. That's why most sfw commissions are for garbage OCs, self inserts, and other nonsense and most nsfw commissions are repulsive shit like vore and raceplay. I know what I want to draw/write and what I don't want to draw/write. I'm keeping my day job so I can keep it that way.

I think that's why a lot of artists I see make commission price images. They detail what kind of prices they are willing to work with, and what kind of stuff they will be willing to draw. Also, yeah I think the pay is pretty bad. Last time I checked, she earns like, at most 10x the average pay from South Korea

I made myself a promise to keep my art relatively anonymous. Much of my work doesn't even have my name, and the stuff that does usually has it hidden or integrated within the image (such as books having it as the author name). I don't really have a centralized collection of it either (though I am building a personal website) and have only ever posted them to Yea Forums either as drawthread contributions or as "just another image".
Though I worry all this could change once I become competent enough to monitize it, though I'm usually pretty good about sticking to principles (I didn't buy Splatoon 1 due to concerns over its content, despite my incredible enthusiasm for the concept)

Hmm, well my principles could change in the future. At one point I said I would /never/ put my name on any of my pieces, but someone made a compelling argument against that, so my compromise was to employ steganography tactics to hide it without ruining the overall composition. And I do plan on coding and self-hosting a website with my stuff on it one of these days. That will give me more control over how I organize drawings (such as if a drawing has multiple versions, or differentiating between Sketches, full drawings, and after dark stuff).

But I already have a domain name and a functioning website. Not for art, for game servers; I list IP addresses and modpack downloads, but the point is that it's there. And building a website is fun. Drive could be a good backup though.
Also I use Krita. Entirely because it's free. It works well enough.
