Maybe not the first but the second game is filled with with spriteart that probably have the same amount of detail as an entire street fighter game stretched over 7-ish hours. No wonder this series crashed and burned alongside Breath of Fire 4. The amount of work would have been insane.

I don't know why everyone gets so confused on this. The games explain it pretty simply. Everyone in Legends is a robot, Humans all died out back in the Mega Man X era, this is thousands of years after X, Z, and ZX they're not humans they're Carbons created by the Master System which were based on the now extinct humans from Classic Mega Man's era.

"Carbons" are like blade runner's replicants, they're artificial humans made out of mostly biological materials, the only difference is Carbons can interface easily with machinery, their nervous system can naturally accept robotic parts and apparently their biological parts can survive while detached from their core, so Mega Man can swap out his human looking flesh and blood body for a mostly machine body and swap back when he's not on mission.

Speaking of fucking, how do carbons reproduce? Did this master system just make x number of them and they're all immortals prepetually stuck at whatever age they were built at? This was Inafune's gamble. Publically announce a prototype to a cult classic is in development so that Capcom wouldn't have the balls to cancel it when he left.

They're robots built out of biological material instead of the normal nuts and bolts, they grow up, have sex, pop out babies, grow old, and die. They don't know they're robots, as far as they're concerned they're no different from any other living thing. If you lived in a world where popping off your arm and attaching a robot arm just worked and everything just synced up without worrying about your pesky nervous system getting in the way you probably wouldn't think too deeply about it either.

Robots don't have to be built out of metal and silicon, you can build them out flesh and blood, we are stupidly complex machine ourselves after-all.

That's not how limited run collectables work. They make a batch approximately the size they think they can sell, sell them through (you might be able to find a minor deal towards the end if they overestimated demand) and never do another batch unless they have overwhelming demand for it. After that initial batch sells out the price usually skyrockets on the resale market.
