Why do tunnel dwelling dwarves use swinging axe and hammer weapons instead of pikes/halberds to take advantage of the narrow corridors and their low center of gravity? no one wants to be swinging next to each other in ranks in a cave, dwarves should be a pike and shot military.

ofc your main weapon would be bow, plus they arent into agriculture so they have to hunt for food. A weapon like a longbow would be perfect for hit and run against small adventuring parties and random monsters.

Because Dwarves are super stromg sble to shatter stone very easily. That's why they don'y use swords or wooden handled spears and halberds because they'd snap from their strength in a few swings. Axes and Hammers hold better to their strength by beong more durable and heavy.
