Skyward Sword Link was actually secretly furious with Hylia/Zelda when she revealed she had been manipulating him into deadly situations to train him to be her weapon against Demise, playing on his feelings for his missing friend. However, he sucked up his growing frustration in order to persevere and save Zelda and put an end to all this nonsense.
However, his pent-up rage was finally unleashed when Ghirahim kidnapped Zelda and used her in his rite to resurrect Demise, and through his wrath and learned skill cut down Ghirahim and tore through Demise with such ferocity that even Demise was impressed and his ability, but ultimately couldn't stand up to Link. So seeing his opportunity, he bound his soul to Link's maddening fury, so that whenever the Spirit of the Hero should get angry, Demise's soul would reincarnate into the world and start the cycle of violence anew.
Henceforth all of Demise's further reincarnations are a result of a future incarnation of Link getting mad or frustrated for some trifling and inconsequential reason prior to the game's start, and the curse laid upon him brings forth the monster he must later slay himself.

Also, Caine was a real person and the story we see of him is simply the Abrahamic interpretation of his real story. He is cursed, as are all vampires, though this is most likely due to some kind of wizard bullshit, rather than actual God. The Cab Driver is also Caine.
