Swapping roles for the sake of it is just stupid. To take 3 characters with established personality and flip them around doesn't work. Their motivations would have to change so much that they're pretty much different characters with the same name.

Because that's not a gameplay idea and basing a game's premise off inocuous roleswapping is a terrible way to start designing a game. It's such a nothing idea and nintendo is not Bioware to do shit like that. It's not the kind of mistakes they should be proud to commit.

Tbh, playable Zelda is something I’d never want. Co-op, maybe if she’s a competent AI partner, but I’d much rather her oversee the rebuilding of Hyrule from Hyrule castle like the royalty she is in BOTW 2

With the Switch pushing multiplayer and Monolith developing this one I wouldn't be surprised if Zelda were playable in some way.

Odyssey is literally that. The whole theme of the game is “looking through other people’s perspectives” with the hat mechanic, leading up to Bowser, and you find out he really likes Peach and it kind of paints Mario as an asshole.

I think this is terrible for a Mario game desu.

It'd be fantastic if she was kind of like Quiet and like the Palico cooks in MH. She'd be your sniper who can make banquets or sleep bonuses should you ever let her take over the cooking. Perhaps have her keep watch for you in areas with patrolling enemies. Maybe for situations like the Yiga Clan stealth mission she'd give you a scapegoat by shooting nearby and distracting ninjas.

I mean, the god’s name is Lucifer, and if you still have hangups about homosexuality I can see why you’d think that.

Each part of the triforce, in their common incarnations, follow a trend, where the user of one trait seeks a second trait even though they would be arguably better off balancing themselves out with the third, which they tend to lack.

Zelda has Wisdom, lacks Power, and seeks Courage.
Ganon has Power, lacks Courage, and seeks Wisdom.
Link has Courage, lacks Wisdom, and seeks Power.

All you would need to do to mix up the story would be to flip the directions and let the characters play out from there. As opposed to the Lorule versions that lack their base triforce trait, simply create a third set that, while having their base triforce trait, changes which one they seek out. A horselord Ganondorf who wants to conquer the world through physical means rather than magical, waging 'honorable' war to prove his martial superiority. A politically cunning Zelda who is willing to give concessions to the enemy in exchange for her people's safety and her own. A Link with a more historical and magical focus, who delved dungeons for their mystery rather than because NPC told him to, and is perhaps more concerned with changing Hyrule from within rather than from without.
