Nah.

What's there to discuss.txt
You will inevitably feel bored.txt

You will inevitably start to feel bored. You will walk from pointless conversation to pointless conversation. You will read and read and read while character models stare at each other lifelessly. You will do the same unchallenging fights hundreds of times over where enemies pose no threat. You will stare at cutscenes that play out in the slowest way possible. You'll tell yourself the story has gripped you while trying to ignore how badly written it is.
You will wonder why Yea Forums and various ecelebs hyped up this series, and begin telling yourself that YOU must be wrong, not them. You'll tell yourself it's good just to feel a part of something.

That's what you're in for.

It's repetitive, runs like shit and has worse writing than Yakuza. The additions to the Yakuza formula are all shallow and boring. The main character is stupid and goofy-looking.

These games are so fucdking comfy jesus christ

Attached: 1567291065867.jpg (1920x1080, 244K)

I mean I liked it alot OP.
But I'm a sucker for Yakuza games

At end of day though most of the new "detective" stuff was half baked at best. And the endless tailing missions were a downright boring slog.

Fire emblem was better for me overall at end of day.

Still good game though

like clockwork
But no, OP. Judgement is by far one of the most boring bland reskins you could ever buy. It's shit game that belongs to the trash just like this whole thread.
Just play Yakuza 0

I like Yakuza games. Been playing them since 2007.

Completely skipped Judgment. Zero interest.

is it really that simple? Not sure whether to try it or not

>yakuza 0
shit sux

kek

Judgment is genuinely the second best Yakuza game after Yakuza 0

I bet you didn't even play it and you've only played the mustard race ports.

>the second best Yakuza game after Yakuza 0
itt: bandwagon hoppers

>RGG game with no karaoke
It's shit.

I never understood how someone can enjoy this crap or the Yakuza games. The minigames are good but the rest is shit.

>every game is 90% filler
>a million useless conversations and bland "cutscenes" that serve no narrative purpose at all
>predictable and joyless plots
>funny meme characters that are as deep as cardboard
>mindless and rigid combat with infinite healing items
>switch styles like a retard for no reaso , this ain't no Nioh
>small, grid-like town that has no remarkable areas to explore or see
What the hell is the appeal of this series besides the minigames? I'm not surprised the best selling entry barely sold 400k units. But why the fuck do they keep making the trash? Do something else you hacks!

Got sick of it half way through after grinding out most of the substories/friendships.

Totally burnt me out on that type of game, shame since I had been waiting for RGG3 Remaster for so long...

Question before I even decide to respond to you: Did you think TLoU was a decent game?

Hey, I like the mindless combat. Feels good crushing dudes. Agree with much of the rest of that though.

Not that user, but I've never played TLoU. I like me some Yakuza but I will never shy away from giving it the trashtalk its due. The series started out pretty strong but then got to up its own ass (see: shitty meme characters given prominence) and started playing things way to god damn safe.

Playing through it for the first time just now and I don't think I could say it's good. Feels like there's less to do, the amount of fucking horrendous tailing missions is actually painful, and the combat is just shallower than mainline Yakuza and feels like shit due to the Dragon Engine. Also Tak's skinny jeans look silly and his leather jacket should be brown.

I dunno man, i liked Judgement but i feel like almost every other Yakuza game added more new content and ideas to the series. Lack of a playable area other than Kamurocho really hurts it.

Not him but I wouldn't mind only being in Kamurocho if they had fleshed out Kamurocho much more, but they didn't.

I've wanted them to expand Kamurocho ever since 3 added the 3rd Person camera and "hd" quality enabling us to get a good look at whats outside of the games borders. Its ridiculous how they've never gone beyond. And even when they expand its interior (Y4) the very next game they go and essentially cut all the stuff back out. I'm thrilled for 7's brand new town and hope not to see even a sliver of Kamurocho again.

>hope not to see even a sliver of Kamurocho again.
it's going to be in the game at the beginning, and probablty at the end, but it seems the majority of the game will be set in yokohama.

I do not understand why Kage the Florist isn't in this game.

Not untrue

Why is there so much criticism in this thread? I thought it was all just one guy who said Yakuza games were bad, and they were the same guy who said every other game I like is bad in other threads too.

PC port when?

I guess people realized that you can't trick everyone into thinking a shit/mediocre game is actually good by saying "comfy" and "GOTY" over and over and over

youtube.com/watch?v=XBcLs8EozCc

The music does a good job of reflecting the game's target audience
zoom zoom

>("lmao drones and smartphones xD")
I don't know what you expected a game set in 2019 to have mate. That's hardly pandering at this point, at least not for smart phones.

this is annoying shit. maybe you need to chug a gallon of shitty energy drinks first to like this.

b8, but music in Yakuza was always on the wub side if you ask me

So an IRC shitpost brigade is targeting yakuza now? Well, we had some good threads while it lasted.

>but music in Yakuza was always on the wub side if you ask me
How many yakuza games have you played exactly? I can literally only think of one dubstep song being used and that was in Yakuza 6 when you fight that Korean mafia dude in Stardust

I seriously don't understand why idiots can't accept seeing other opinions and have to concoct some conspiracy theory to explain it.
>it's all just one guy! everyone on Yea Forums knows yakuza games are flawless! GOTY!
>wait, it's clearly not one guy... we must be getting raided!

Posts you don't agree with aren't automatically shitposts. This isn't a circlejerk. Go back to r/yakuza if that's what you want.

The only good thing about Yea Forumseddit Yakuza threads are the faceapp pics, I swear to god

There are proven copypastas in this thread man.

I played the demo and didnt finish I was so bored. It's a pretty long one too so you have plenty of time to be bored before deciding to pay to be bored

Fuck off cancer, this is what videogame discussion actually looks like.
>dude can't we just post KIRRUUUUUUU-CHAAAAAAN a million times lmao!?

Ignore them, they're most likely Yakuza 0-bots. I enjoy playing me some Yakuza but by god these games are asset flips that still have small arcane annoyances baked in from the very first game way back in 2005.

I wanna get into Yakuza. Should I bother with the originals on the PS2 or the remastered ones on PS4/PC? and which one should I start with? I'm honestly at a lost here, don't know the difference between Kiwami or 0

Don’t bother. It’s shit.

...

you can choose to start with 0, and move on to kiwami which is a remake of the first game in the series, then kiwami 2 which is a remake of 2, and then 3,4,5, and 6 (the ps4 ports for 3,4,5 will come out as a physical bundle next year, but you can buy it digitally and have access to 3 now, 4 in october, and 5 in febuary)
you could also go in release order and start with 1.

Kiwami is a bit shit of a remake. It has upsides and downsides compared the the PS2 original. Don't start with 0. Never start with prequels made 10+ years after the series debuted. It connects to literally nothing and more or less rehashes 1's storyline/set pieces. Its a filled end of generation game made to get one more use out of the existing engine/assets.

Yakuza 0 is the prequel of the Yakuza series and was released after Yakuza 5.
Just get Yakuza 0 to start. It's seen as the best game in the series and doesn't revolve around Haruka. Avoid Yakuza 6.

The plot is retarded across all games. Might as well pick whatever one you want first aside from 6.

>start with 0
>Don't start with 0
which one is it you faggots

Attached: Adachi.jpg (1280x1707, 549K)

Yakuza is the series of diminishing returns. Kiwami is shit, 3 is shit, 4 and 5 are okay but there is a lot of tedium and story bullshit in them, and then 6 is fucking terrible. It's really not worth playing so many games which are all so long only for so little payoff. They're only really suitable for players who have literally absolutely nothing else in their lives.

You're lucky if you manage to finish even just 0 without getting bored. But remember, the others are all far worse.

in my post i said you could choose which ever way you want.
the choice is yours and yours alone.

Are you dumb? Production order. Always production order.

0 winks and nods to the first 5 games. Wheres the enjoyment in coming across that shit if you haven't played said games?

Meanwhile 1-5 (and even 6 despite coming after) has literally nothing to do with 0.

I'd avoid Kiwami 1. It's quite honestly just pure torture. Majima Everywhere fucking ruined what could've been a good remake.

the enjoyment will come later when you play said games you autist

Attached: yakuza7.jpg (676x1018, 69K)

If you actually played judgment, you’d know this is the most story driven game by rgg studios yet. There is actually more regular story than side story in this game. The reason to switch combat in the game is crowd control or boss battles. Healing items aren’t as easily stored. They are limited to 4 of each kind. The grid town actually rewards you with items for crafting for exploration. The mini games are just ok this time.

Looking at all the other threads here. Yes you still can do that.

Style switching also ruined it. Oh, and how they gutted like a third of the originals substories and replaced them with a dozen fucking Mesuking ones. Oh and other filler such as dog quest. Oh and randomly adding a Majima "death" scene (in whats otherwise a shot for shot remake) that takes place moments before you go to fight him and his gang properly.

>Want to do a side case
>Remember it might have a trailing mission
>Continue with the main story

Attached: 1513418259604.jpg (500x213, 20K)

>next story segment shoves you into a tailing segment anyway

for everything I liked in judgment there would be twice as much bullshit. got pretty frustrated with it several times and can't say I enjoyed it overall.

Either or. You either start with 0 and start with the modern order Sega is expecting nowadays (0, K1, K2, 3R, 4R, 5R, 6, Judgment, 7) or you go by release order and see how the series added and subtracted on top of seeing all the nods throughout the years (1, 2, [Kenzan], 3, 4, [Dead Souls], 5, [Ishin], 0, K1, 6, K2, Judgment, 7).

If you just want to give the series a chance you could always download 1, just remember that it's a forced English dub and it's the first game of the entire series so it has some really clunky mechanics from time to time but it's still alright even now. The gameplay on a base level is how it is throughout the games (Minigames, substories, exploring a city, general main story structure although 1's was pretty barebones for the time). You could also get 0 on sale and see if you like it as a whole.

Every bit of the detective features is shit
I still don't understand what's the fucking point of the keyring

>Dragon Engine even makes pinball feel like shit
How the fuck did they manage it

they didn't even make it, it's a shitty pinball game that was already on steam. the game has to load up a different engine just to play pinball.

yakuza devs are honestly the most incompetent bunch of chancers in videogames. if any western studio was half as useless they'd be the biggest meme on the internet.

>game isn't even from a Japanese dev
What the fuck are they doing

Attached: maxresdefault (1).jpg (940x1059, 1.17M)

I was bored and stopped playing at around after he left the hospital (chapter 9 or so).

It has less exciting stuff than the first Yakuza on PS2 and is literally just bureau complex after bureau complex, at the very best and the detective stuff doesn't work well since you literally can't lose or make mistakes.

you don't even get to do any detective work. if you figure something out before the characters do, it doesn't matter. you don't get to solve anything and there's no point even thinking about it. it's the same experience as watching a detective movie, not a detective game. which is very disappointing and frustrating. especially when you're sitting there waiting for characters to figure out something you already have.

Yeah, playing through it I'm reminded a lot of modern Japanese and HK detective/cop movies, and that's not a good thing.

Tried to get into yakuza after all my favorite ecelebs told me to and none of them told me how boring they really were

fuck off

Attached: 021561053124563.webm (1280x720, 2.81M)

I mean, that's a reused animation from Yakuza.

unironically this
in fact Judgement is highly praised by Japanese who generally have lukewarm attitude to this series thats too much dragging for them. from observation of amazon jp, this game is rated at the second highest yakuza game next to Yakuza 0 whose the same senario writer

I put a lot of value into replayability.

how in the fuck is a smartphone pandering to zoomers when literally every person uses them...

>>ONE CHARACTER

Yakuza 4 and 5 was a mistake

Why do Snoys love movies so much?

I_hurt_myself_today.png

>Changing engine just to load up a shitty pinball game they ripped from steam
This was the most bizarre thing I've ever seen in a video game. Didn't think the Yakuza devs could get any lazier but there you go. It's also by far the worst pinball game I have ever played, which is probably why the score requirement is so low.

I think Yakuza 4 did a really good job with the multiple characters, each one felt like they brought something to the combat. 5 sucked with it though, Shinada was the laziest shit.
I don't mind Judgment only having Yagami but he can't do half of what Kiryu could so I can see why people would complain.

Why anyone thinks this is acceptable blows my mind. But retards are still calling it GOTY even though it runs like shit and the devs are now lifting OTHER broken as fuck games to put into their own broken as fuck game because they can't do the work themselves.

OP is being sarcastic. Even Yakuza die-hards have accepted Judgment was a let down by now. The series has been dying for a long time, with 0 being the one jolt of life that kept it being milked a little longer. That's why the devs are finally changing it with 7, but it's probably not enough to fix the real issues with the series. Hopefully the new main character will actually make the games feel different but I'm not optimistic. The devs have made very clear that they're actually fucking hopeless.

but it's comfy

but it's comfy

It's just specs braggers that started flooding everything after it got ported to Pee-Sea

Just watch some Japan IRL streamer on Twitch.

If you don't like 0, you won't like the others. But if you don't like the others, you might still like 0. So play 0 first.

Then how come literally nobody in the thread is complaining about how the games preform on PC, and are instead talking about shortcomings with the gameplay and writing? Hell the thread is about a game which isn't even out on PC so how exactly can they complain about the specs?

Ssshh, user... can't you see that poster is simply trying his best to COPE? Please don't make it harder for him.

>literally no posts of that kind in the thread
>it's PC specs braggers FLOODING the thread everyone!
so is this a flaseflag or are you delusional

That is literally 1 to 1 Yakuza animation
I like Yakuza series, but you cannot talk back to that user with this webm

>basic detective work
Is it possible to fail at this stuff, or is it all 'clicking on glowing thing' and 'choose from list until you pick the right one'?

It's a movie, user. You don't really do any detective work. You can't get a game over while watching a movie.

I agree

This is a PlayStation 4 game in 2019
